LOL

Ok, so you can block cheaters, block drug users (which in most places is an illegal activity) and in the same mix is smokers!!! ,

interesting indeed..

Suggestion...How bout we add ignorant, obese, rude, alcohol dependant and "icky" to that list?

heres my question, how many of you would pass up on someone that fit ALL of your criteria except for one thing (ie..smoking)

Well since you mentioned smoking - that's definitely a deal breaker for me. I don't care how gorgeous the woman is, tobacco breath is a hardon killer every time.

Okay then you would block half of the world cause you are looking with they eyes first and then the mind.

I understand the drugs and alcohol thing ... ( sorry but some of these people that have a problem with that are instable and need help )

lmao ... but define the freak thing ...

a tatoo and piercing can be freaky to some ...

all adults here choose your criteria and move on ...

-Yes , I've quit for someone I really liked . It takes someone to encourage you , not b*tch about it .

Jonezy, you are correct, not all married people cheat and that is not at all what i was insinuating.. that comment was used in the context of this sight and the block feature....... selecting to block "married" blocks answers of "married, living together or prefer not to say". Since this is a DATING site, the assumption by many (NOT necessarily speaking for all or even for myself) is that if a married person has a profile on here, they are here to have some extra curricular fun (again..and i can NOT stress this enough, i am not talking about EVERYONE that lists married or living together or prefer not to say...just a generalization, and I base that on emails i have received, posts I have read, and other people who have talked about "friends with benefits" or "dipping their pole in another pond"

Hey Hollyberry...as to your question about whether we'd pass up someone just because they smoked, I wouldn't pass up on them but it would definately be a turn off. I think I would try to see at least if that person would be willing to give up smoking or at least try not to smoke as much when I am around them. Since I have quit smoking I think it would be fair to ask them this. I think you would have to find a trade off because I know how hard it is to quit smoking. Anyway just my 2cents.

Im far from fat or obese, but thats not really nice. you cant put smoking and all the other things and being overweight in the same category. people choose to smoke, and or use drugs, but some cant help being overwieght. i know plenty of overweight people that happen to be good people.

ok.. i think maybe i should clarify.. the "obese/rude/icky" etc comment, was intended to point out that there are a lot of things that are considered undesirable, but we are left to weed through that ourselves, yet we segregate the ones that are politically correct to segregate (ie. smoking), and not others

people choose to smoke but do not choose to be overweight?? i'm sorry, i'm throwing the b/s flag down on this. Agreed there are certain individuals with a predisposition to be overweight, and agreed that it is very difficult to lose weight (ever tried to quit smoking???)
But if obesity was an incurable disease there would be no southbeach, jenny craig or jared from subway

If the one thing is smoking, then yes, I'd pass. It doesn't matter how suitable she is otherwise, if I can't stand to be in the same room with her because of the tobacco stench.

I personally wouldn't block anyone for not meeting one of my criteria if I was looking for a date but if I wanted more than someone to date (I do) then yes I would block her but only for basic differences in what we want in life not so bad habit. Habits can be changed I know. 21 years ago I quit my 3 pack a day habit. I once drank everynight did drugs and weighed nearly 400 lbs. Now drug free approaching 16 years and currently weigh 250 lbs and working to get it even lower. I have changed the way I drink to 2-3 drinks about once a week. If you want to know what I mean by wants in life see the list in my profile. NO NOT what I need for sex that ones a JOKE!

BTW if I found someone who wanted to be with me and have a future with me including a family I would think she would want to life a long and healthy life to spend as much time with me and our kids that she would change "bad" habits. I know I would.

I tend to agree with the obesity ideal.. definitly b.s. flagged.. some people have problems, yes, but laziness towards unhealty living has got to be one thing that bugs me, put down the mcdees burger. smoking, drugs, yea they can be dealt with if you care about someone.. but the freaky, geeky thing.. hmm some would say sitting in front of your computer and talking in chat rooms pretty geeky... but hey, I'm not one to judge.. I'm here too...

I had to comment on this thread. ;) I am one of those on again off again smokers. At times I do and other times I can quit for months. Personally, I would not rule out anyone because they smoke. I realize there are many people out there that don't smoke and if I go out with someone who does not, I will not smoke around them. When it comes down to it ...it is all a personal preference and if one chooses not to date someone because of one thing (i.e. smoking) that is their loss and/or gain depending how they view it.

As for the rest...well if you are married...take a hike...not getting into all the drama of that. Dating has enough freaking drama please let us not add to it by having one of the parties involved be married.

Drugs...well lets face it pretty much all of us have done them at one time or another, so again I think this is more of a personal preference. Now if you have to live next to a crack pipe in order to get through a day...well I would have to pass on you, but those that do drugs here and there, I would not rule out.

Now as my darling sista put the icky people....oh you bet your sweet a*** I will run and hide if you are icky. lmao ;)

Blocking anyone on e-mail is almost pointless because if someone doesn't put the truth in their profile they'll still get through. In my post I was refering to real life. the only real reason to block e-mail for me would be if I knew I only wanted serious dating possibilities to e-mail me. So for example people overseas would be out. I dont see a point in blocking because as a guy we dont get nearly the amount of unwanted mail that women get.

BTW I'd think that sooner or later women would figure out it's not them who should be competeing for guys but just the opposite.

also agree about married....if you're married or married and lieing about it stick to swingers sites.

I would exlude someone as a possible mate because he was a smoker, most certainly. As for quiting for someone else, I think that unless you are quitting an adiction for your own reasons, and unless they are strong enough reasons, you will have a difficult time. I too dislike disapointing people, but if you ask me to quit something that is an integral part of my life, and an adiction, I had better really want to for my own reasons or I will won't do it.

what if you OK with thin people who smoke but who are only thin because they smoke?

what do you do when they quit and gain a bunch of weight?

would you rather have a gf/bf who is thin but does coke?

seems to me there are much more important things to consider.

I didnt mean that I would ask her to quit for me but that she would want to quit for her family thus being her reason.

oh and I could never date a person who uses the word "thus" ewwew! LOL
