The very first Beatles Tune I heard freshly released on Radio and knew exactly what the song was called was 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' [White Album 1968]

| What was the very first Beatles Tune you heard released on the Radio? Posted: 11/13/2004 9:50:55 PM | Now, I know alot of people are going to say I'm crazy here...because this is in complete conflict with the "Beatle History" we've been seeing and hearing in the media for the last 40 years...but "Please Please Me" and "From Me to You" was actually released as a single and hit number 24 on the local (San Francisco) top 40 at least as far back as 1961...may have even been earlier. I remember being in a certain place at a certain time when I first heard it, and that's not a place I would have been at any other time.
Another song that was a hit long before the performers were known was "Days", by The Davies... in 1962, who later became The Kinks... Ray and Dave Davies. When this record was released, everyone thought the name of the group was "The Babies". Nobody had ever heard anything like this song and it still remains one of the strangest sounding, yet catchiest tune/songs I've EVER heard.

Cigs were a nickel a pack there was such a thing as penny candy and you could get five “Jaw Breakers” for a penny, you remember the ones with the Caraway seed center. Your parents actual bought you candy cigarettes and thought you looked “Cute” pretending to smoke them. But just remember that was in my past life, hey women don’t tell and neither will I. Also this was west coast Canadian prices. WaaaaaHoooo 40+ rocks babe, and it ain't got moss

They were: Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You on October 5, 1962, followed by Please Please Me/ Ask Me Why on January 11, 1963
In the U.S., Vee-Jay Records had released these as a single earlier, but they felt it was not necessary to include them on "Introducing The Beatles, Englands No.1 Vocal Group."

I grew up with the Beatles. Still a Beatlemaniac. I have all my old Beatle albums from that time period, and have renewed them all on CD. The best group and most influential group ever. They were the first to do so many things that were never done before. I still love all the 60's music. Still a hippie at heart I am.
