Im a 20-m, and i have this girl whos just a friend she 18. and i like her alot....but i know she doesnt make as much as me....cuz she has to pay for her rent, and phone bill, etc.......well i try to do my best at makin us havin fun 2gether....and all she does is complain on how much she pretty much doesnt have any money to return the favor.....and buy us a few nights out......like i pay for movies, bowlin.concerts. and dinner...and etc....but she keeps tellin me she appreciates me doin this but she would like to do at least a few times in the future and pay for a few HANGOUTS.....but im not doin this to spoil her to prob have a RELATIONSHIP WITH HER AND HAVE HER AS MY GF...im doin this cuz i jus want us to have fun 2gether....i like her alot....and im doin this cuz we both have crappy lives....my parents pretty much hate me and she hasnt seen her parents in 12 yrs and she makes crappy money but she likes where she works............what shouls i do.....

y do ppl have to be judgemental, cuz ive pretty much been tellin coworkers on our lil thing and the majority of the coworkers i work with...pretty much the guys think shes a gold digga, etc.....but they dont know what her life wa slike and i do (ive known her for 3 yrs off and on, and weve been hangin out latelky the past few months, and they think cuz what im doin...she s a gold digga)

Posted: 8/14/2005 1:36:59 AM | Maybe she's a gold digger, maybe she isn't. The only one that can tell that is you. It's difficult at 18 to make ends meet. The jobs you all get straight out of high school don't exactly pay very well. At 20 it doesn't get much better. But from what you've said, it doesn't sound to me like she's a gold digger. She says she wants to pay for some of your "hang outs". Whether or not she's sincere is another question though.
I think the big point here is that you're offering to pay for these things. She's not demanding them. If she were telling you she wanted to go to a particular place, or she wanted you to buy her clothes,jewelry, etc... that is more like what a gold digger is. | |

If you think you know her well enough and decide she's not after your money, don't mind what the co-workers are saying. Have a good time.
Maybe there are things she could do to return the favour. She could cook you a nice dinner from time to time, and rent a dvd. Doesn't have to be expensive. There may be other things like that that she could organise / pay for that wouldn't be too expensive, or would be free. When you don't have the petrol, you need ideas.

Posted: 8/14/2005 2:36:23 AM | I agree that I don't think your friend is a gold digger....she sounds like a female friend who is sharing some of her problems with you...as any friend would. I don't think girls hate being spoiled...it just sounds like your friend would like to pay her own way and is upset that she can't afford to. I liked the idea mentioned that she could cook you dinner and you two could watch a movie instead of going out....but maybe she can't cook or wouldn't know what to cook...she is really young after all and if she had a crappy upbringing, chances are no one taught her how to cook. So maybe you could offer to bring the pizza and she could rent a movie...if she has a dvd player.... if not,tell her not to worry about it cuz you know she can't afford it and reassure her that you like hanging out with her and don't mind paying.
People who judge others are usually insecure about themselves, they pick apart ppl to make themselves feel superior....don't pay any attention to them....they are usually losers.
my secret turn on...is finding a man like Dog the Bounty hunter...rough and tough on the outside but a teddy bear inside who isn't afraid to show his emotions.

He couldn't afford it.
I just told him that I would rather pay and enjoy his company than wait forever for him to afford to take us out.
