I don't know. But I was watching this show on A&e called inked and they had a older woman get one on her hip or just a little higher.

It all depends on your pain tolerance to tell you the truth..

Sure it's going to hurt closer to the bone.. that's normal!

Anytime you bump a spot on your body that is close to the bone it hurts..
Doesn't hurt near as much to bounce your arm on the edge of a table as it does your elbow.

I could easily sleep thru a tattoo.. but I am a freak..

I made the mistake of waiting a day or so to get the coloring done on mine and it had started to heal now that hurt a little.

Your tattooist went back into the tattoo only a couple days later??
Are they freaking nuts?

That will only wreck the outline and scar ya!

Mine waits at least two weeks.. usually a month so that the colour isn't pulled out when going back in to add more.

Sheesh!

I had one done on my right side, just above my waist, about a year ago. It was all black work (chinese characters) but I *knew* about 2 weeks later that they would need to be colored in again....but DAMN that was a painful spot!!! I'm not sure how long I had to bend over that chair....but I felt sliced and diced once it was over with!

Thinking about getting them recolored, (or maybe outlined again or something) They look "Ok", but if you look really closely...it's almost like a dark grey instead of a black....

As for the "where does a 43 year old woman get a tattoo".....I don't know that age is really an issue?
That said, I have a friend that's 41, and she is currently sporting a 1/2 daisy just above her shoulderblade.....her 3 best friends each have matching ones. Kind of cute!

"Where does a 43 year old woman get a tattoo?"
Anywhere she wants. It doesn't matter what others think, only what you think. Tats are supposed to be about personal expression. I just had the heart on my right calf touched up today, right after I had my nose pierced. I love the feeling of being tattooed and pierced. So pick a spot where you can see and admire it without the need for a mirror, and Git R Done.

a 43 yr old woman can get a tatoo anywhere... from what i've found , 90% of all tatooists are very professional in the way they handle new cleints, whoever tattoos you should be able to make you feel right at ease...IF they are a tattooist worth anything.

Above the ankle Hon.. about an inch or two up.. it's not bad at all..

I watched a girl get one done on her back and the Tattooist had just barely started and she felt sick from the pain..
It's all about your tolerance really.. My cousin had her lower back done.. UGLY Eyes with Wings.. BLEECH.. and she said it didn't hurt.. she's skinny as a rail..

No Offense to anyone!!!

So where should I go in Calgary? Anybody have a fav place for piercings and tattoos.. My kid wants her lip done and she is bugging me to get the tat the same day...
Is a dragonfly too odd? I think thats what I want.. or maybe a daisy.. I like the daisy idea.

Thanks I will check it out.
Thank goodness I go back to work soon, this rain is making me nuts...
If my holidays went any longer, I would end up pierced and tattoed.
