I am doubting not much here. Not much in the general population either. I only listen to classical, opera and gospel. No one else I know does.

oh dear. if phantom of the opera - classical than shakira probably diva of la scala opera house.
by the way. tchaikovsky wasn't shakespear. composer only and did his nutcracker as a ballet. that's mean there no lyric to sing :)

Wozzeck by Alban Berg:

A simple soldier is chewed up and destroyed by the oppressiveness of "the system."

writ in 1820 considered modern opera.

last i saw it was in Seattle, done professionally

our university's drama department did a fabulous time with it,
it was a play adapted to modern opera.

heh.

i loved college.

WELL,
I like oppera and classical, i even like other kind of stuff, but rap, it upsets me i don't know why, but well, coming back to the subject, as long as the music has a moderate sound, i will like it, also it has to make sence,

Not huge on opera, but I really like Carmen. I think the film adaptation done in the 80's with Placido Domingo and Julia Migenes was excellent.

Finally - another opera fan! Those are great operas. They must have opera in the Cleveland area. I know they have a great orchestra. I still love the old Cleveland Orchestra recordings that George Szell made.

Yes i like some opera, i like that little guy who sings from the 3 tennars, forgot his name, i like Sarah Brightman, and if any body remembers Malcolm Mclarren, you dont hear of him no more he was what ppl called modern opera back 15 years ago or so. Cant find him at amazon now.

If i hear some new opera i ll probably like it, i like most opera id say.

And yes Phantom of the opera also.

Some classical is also fine.

Is it Jose Carreras you are thinking of bilady? He kind of got lost between Pavorrati and Domingo. I still like a lot of the old singers. Tebaldi and Leontine Price were the best. Robert Merrill had the best baritone voice.

If you're in Vancouver, their current production of Mozart's Don Giovanni is extremely good.

I have heard good things about Vancouver. They have a good symphony orchestra too, right? How many operas do you get every year? Here in Vermont we usually only get two. They bring in travelling opera companies. Sometimes we get the NY city opera. Two per year is not enough though, so I have been going to NY and NH for satisfaction. Vancouver is a bit far to go though.

The Vancouver Opera does 4 or 5 major operas a year. I havn't been to the Vancouver Symphony much in the past few years, but in the past they have been alright.

You are lucky perclady. 4 or 5 operas seems like a lot to me. If I lived in NY City I would be broke from going to the opera all the time. Do you get the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts out there on Saturdays?
