I was remember some fit women here saying something how you don't care if the guy you're dating is as fit as you are.

I saw this personal ad of a woman in my area, talk about washboard abs (omg!) Very nice looking, one picture of her in a tanktop, and a set of abs that looks like the ones on that bo-flex commercial.

Also, another of her "Running" and a piece of paper and a set of numbers (obviously partaks in competitions and such)

I got into a debate (on another forum) about "to what degree" is this woman looking for in a "fit" man.

I said I had no real interest in that kind of "Triathlete" lifestyle...however I do go to the gym, say to keep in shape, do the most "Basic" routine to stay toned, just enough to get by.

But then you have those that are so hardcore, I've seen pictures of women all "Geared" up in a spandex outfit, and helmet on a 12-speed, with a "Sponsor" on their back. lol

You start to think, "Hm, is this woman really for me? Sure, I go to the gym to stay in shape, and don't mind hiking and canoeing on occasion, but MAN.....this woman could run 20-miles in 30 minutes, like it's nothing. LOL!

I'd be dating an olympiad! lol

Anyhow, I got some view points of people who were personal trainers and such, but some thought indeed this COULD be a hinderance to a relationship.

Now my arguement is, well....see I live the deep south, and I have friends that are typical "Southerners" do the huntin' fishin, NASCAR, etc.

However, there are definately wives that don't touch that...they stay home, or do crocheting, or scrapbooking, or whatever, however, their marriage is doing well, or the relatoinship or whatever, but I do recall people having had different "Hobbies"

HEck, I"ve met women who won't date a man unless does nothing but ride on no more than 2-wheels (a biker or a Harley lover)

But apparently this can be a hardship, if someone doesn't share the kind of DEGREE of fitness l ifestyle as the other.

To what DEGREE would you date or not date someone that's fit?

Believe it or not, I have met woman, at the gym, locally, that have dated guys that were skinny dudes that didn't work out at all, they just loved their perosnality, and the fact they were treated right, and got along so well....The gym thing was optional.

She'd be rather buff, but him....probably a bit soft, but not fat...or even overweight for that matter.

Fox might be able to answer this one :)

LOL...LMAO! I just about blew my hot chocolate when I read that last line!! Too funny

For me, a man doesn't need to be a gym rat. I am actually MORE likely to date someone who isn't really fit than I am to date a musclehead as I care a lot more about personality than I do about bicep size. I don't like fat or really skinny (like marathoners), so I guess I am into the "average joe".

I have serious problems with couch potatoes, but I don't expect a man to be training 3-4 hours a day. All I need is someone who is willing to actually DO stuff....a walk, go for a drive, a picnic, the beach or whatever. I have spent too many years with men who think it is a big effort to move from the bed to the couch to the fridge to the couch......

btw: I don't always eat "clean"....am a serious eater and love my grits, sausage gravy, chicken fried steak and french fries, too

Who the fox...wish you were here, you're a few and far between. hehe.

I am also glad you dont mind dating younger men either ;-) You'r epretty rare, but some women want their "Idenitical twin" when it comes to fitness....ride bikes for 50 miles togehter, afte rthat, go kayaking for a 30...etc...all together.

I'm glad yo ulike the average joe...score one for the average joe! Thanks to Fox :)

I never thought of myself as fussy when it came to fitness until I posted a POF profile and got a lot of messages from not-so-fit people who perceived themselves to be fit (or said they were) but weren't. That doesn't work for me. Fitness is a lifestyle, not a body type. It's about caring for yourself. I don't expect a partner to participate in the same activities that I do or to participate at the same level I do, but I want her to share the same values. I can't respect someone who doesn't respect themselves or is too lazy to make the effort. The ancient Greeks believed mind, body and spirit have to come together to make a person well-rounded. I agree.

you want to be fit it,s this simple

do some pushups
do some situps
pick up a set of dumbells
if you can get motivated to do it go for a run. ( it can be a real pain in the ass to get motivated for a good run)

you may not get washboard abs.
or a huge chest

but everything will improve

work out on a steady scheduale for a month

you,ll feel better about yourself and wont want to stop.

it takes about a month to start to see results so dont get discouraged.

Hambone, that decision probably won't be yours to make. When you try to email her, she'll ignore you, just like the rest of them do. (Not you in particular, I'm talking about the trend of not answering emails).

"women who don't date men unless they ride on nothing more than 2 wheels?"

I was being a bit embellishing, but yeah....there's women who will NOT date someone who doesn't ride a motorcycle like they do.

They have Bikefest here, Daytona Bike week, so yeah, move to FL lol

BUt I find this "Bike" thing even more absurd.

How restrict myself to only dating women who are into paintball?

the "bike thing" isn't just a thing, it's a lifestyle, like fitness, is a belief and lifestyle, as a vet I can verify its like the military "lifestyle", etc.
