| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/19/2005 11:58:39 PM | Adam and Eve sinned, therefore all humanity must be punished.... That really sucks!!!What kind of fair GOd is that???Think about it??You have 2 kids..One is really good in school, doesn't do drugs, stay away from troubles, and the other one gets into trouble all the time, skips school, does drugs, robs an old lady,.....etc.... Would you punish the good kid????I don't think so...so why in the hell does God punish the rest of us for something Adam and Eve did??That is crappy!!!! | |

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 2:20:30 AM | Unfortunately that’s both the ugliness and the sorrow of sin. When we choose to do something wrong, it not only affects us individually, but also others around us, and sometimes even the next generation. Adam and Eve were the first two humans in the world at the time. When they made the choice to sin, it forever altered the course of humanity by the consequences of their actions to do so. God told them specifically not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil citing- “For in the day that you do so, you shall surely die.” A simple truth, the wages of sin is death. When this happened, there were no other humans alive, and Eve was made from Adam. They shared the same genetics. If there were other humans alive at the time, they would have not been affected by the sin. And only Adam and Eve would have been kicked out of the Garden of Eden. The remaining untainted humans would still be there today. They were the first humans committing the first sin, thus transforming them from grace. And all the humans that they created were born into that same transformation, up to now.
Rember always, the choices that you make in life not only affect you, but others as well. Hope that this helps ;)

|
| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 2:48:04 AM | And an all knowing God would have known that Adam and Eve would take from the ‘Tree of Life’. Think about it, God (according to the Bible), was playing with them, like some naughty child would misuse his toys... it is fairy story my friend... a scary fairy story. Once you get suckered into it (usually at a very young age) through reparation, it's very difficult to ignore and the main part of the brainwashing process (get 'em young and vulnerable). It is still used in Sunday schools as a form of discipline method... but it's time to grow up and smell the SCIENCE!
So-called Christians can espouse the scriptures all they like but none of it is fact… believe what you want to and, good luck.

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 6:46:26 AM | Many think that the Bible claims that people are condemned to hell on the basis of Adam and Eve's sin - the original sin of mankind. The doctrine of original sin comes primarily from Paul's letter to the Romans. In this letter, Paul makes the statement that "through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men..." Taken out of context, Paul seems to imply that all people are condemned because of Adam's sin. This page will examine what Paul said in context and how that fits with the remainder of biblical theology.
What was the original sin?God created Adam and Eve and placed them in a garden of numerous fruit treesthat He had designed, from which they could eat anything, except the fruit from one tree.Although Adam and Eve had no concept of good and evil, they obviously did know about disobedience, since Eve told the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'" (Genesis 3:3) From her statement, it is clear that Eve knew that she shouldn't eat the fruit. In fact she even added to God's command with the words "or touch it," which was not in God's original command. So, the original sin was disobedience, mistrust, and disloyalty against God.
Romans chapter fiveIn chapter 5 of Romans, Paul describes how We are justified before God on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ who came to earth to die for the sins of mankind. The chapter takes us back to how we got into the current mess we are in - back to our original parents, who committed the first sins. Paul's point in doing this is to compare the transgression by the transgressor to the redemption offered through the Redeemer. In this chapter, Paul makes it clear that, although Adam and Eve committed the first sin, we are guilty on the basis of our own sin:
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned-- (Romans 5:12)
What the original sin did was to cause the human race to fall into the practice of sin. We are born to imperfect parents, whose sin negatively influences us. We become accustomed to committing "minor" sins without regard to their negative impact on our lives and the lives of others. However, God, in His love provided the means by which all people could become completely righteous before Him,10 thus inheriting eternal life.
ConclusionThe Bible says that God has created people to be upright, but they have chosen to do evil.We are not condemned on the basis of Adam and Eve's original sin, but our own. Our condemnation is rightly deserved due to our rebellion and disobedience of God's laws. God is not responsible for our sin, but we are, because of our own lusts. However, God, in His love, has provided a way of escape for those who recognize their own inability to live up to God's holy standards. Jesus Christ died for our sins to reconcile us to God.

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 10:45:24 AM | | My favourite take on this paradox comes from the Cathars in the 13th century. They looked at the Genesis story and realised a few things: "God" told Adam that if they ate the fruit they would die; the serpent said they wouldn't die but would know good and evil. They ate the fruit, didn't die and knew good and evil. God wouldn't lie, but He seemingly did. Therefore our Creator, in whose image we are made, is not the true God, but God appeared in the form of the serpent. All of our desires are therefore sinful and to achieve true salvation we must follow Jesus who is the creation of the true God, not the one who created us. It makes a lot of sense considering the profoundly different Gods of the Old and New Testaments. Naturally they were all killed in the first Christian crusade and it's this crusade where the Bishop said in response to a slaughter of all the people in a city - "Kill them all, God will know his own." | |

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 3:18:48 PM | FOR GOD TO INTERFERE WITH WHAT WE CHOOSE WOULD BE TO NEGATE THE CHOICE!!!
Free will does not exist if God forces us to do right
Your original anaology does not count that even if on the surface one kid seems perfect in comparison to his brother he is still not perfect in comparison to God. Meaning he has still sinned and should suffer the fate of a sinner. All sin is equal in the eyes of God.

"God" told Adam that if they ate the fruit they would die; the serpent said they wouldn't die but would know good and evil. They ate the fruit, didn't die and knew good and evil
Um, I don't see Adam and Eve running around today...
That's because they are DEAD!!!
Like a small child, Adam and Eve had no frame of reference for death. After eating the fruit (physcedelics) Adam and Eve relized that they would die.
If I tell you that smoking cigarettes will kill you, am I lying????

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 4:34:11 PM | | The Adam and Eve story is filled with symbolism. Understand the symbols is the key to understanding what the myth is trying to explain. In the Caananite religion there was a chief god, El, and his consort Ashterah (a.k.a. Ishtar, Asherah). In the Jewish religion God's name is YHWH. This actually comes from a verb, HWH, which means to be. The Y is part of a prefix, ya-, which means he. Yahweh literally means "he creates." The name Eve is also based on the verb HWH. As it happens Ashterah also went by the name Eve. Hardly surprising that her name would be similar YHWH's. Ashterah had two symols that are particularly important to the Garden of Eden story. Her symbols were the date palm tree and the serpent. The "original sin" was taking part in Ashterah worship! This is a sin that plagued the Jews for most of their history. | |

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 7:55:46 PM | I find that we ask so many questions because we are faithless. We have doubt to confuse us.Even the choosen people of Isreal had doubt.God punished His own choosen people because they doubted God all the time. When Moses lead His people out of Egypt they could have very easily went straight to the promise land God promised them.Instead they decided to rebel and not trust God's word.It took them 40 years to get to this land when it could've taken them weeks. We tend to do the same thing.Every time we doubt or have disbelief we are punished for it.We are stripped of or promised land(treasures)until we redeem ourselves and trust God whole heartedly. Some of us believe other men rather than believe God.Why we do this I have no idea.I would like to think it's because people have more faith in a foolish man that they can see, then have faith in a wise and loving God.I have found that anytime I want to know something God will show the way if your willing to listen.
God bless and take care, Jimmy

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/20/2005 8:48:20 PM | Maybe we should stop blaming God for our troubles.Maybe we should accept the fact that we cause everything that happens. You reap what you sow.
I think we get angry at the Bible because it ponts out our wrongs,I mean who really likes getting chastised.I have learned to accept the fact that I commited many sins.I made my bed now I have to lye in it. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.I thank God for the things that happened to me.Through my hardships I have learned that I went through these things to get ready for the next test.Every time I pass one test another even harder one is given.I thank God for these tests. My faith has become strong because. In fact it has become so strong that I would be willing to die for it.I have been put to this test before and I'm still here so I obviously passed. We all see hard times. It's not up for us to decide whether we deserve them or not.All we are to decide is what are we gonna do with these times.I used to be the worlds worst at complaining about what's happening to me.All the time we spend complaining we could actually spend figuring out what we are gonna do.Are we gonna let this defeat us or are we gonna fight the good fight until the end. Be thankful for what you do have. When we complain,God can show us that we really have nothing to complain about. He can show us something to really complain about.I thank God my life isn't as bad as it could be.I mean I grew up in a ruff life so I would hate to see how bad it can get. Just remember- EVERY FLOWER HAS TO GROW THRU DIRT GOD BLESS AND TAKE CARE, Jimmy

| Unfair God!!! Posted: 8/21/2005 7:10:58 AM | We are taught the good and evil of our time and it is the individuals chance to redeem them selves..to reconcile with the true maker. We all sin and we all suffer-it may have began in temptation -but we are shown the differences through society and GOD's word. EVeryone will fall to the devil's advocate but to know the difference is a blessing. Your children will make mistakes and learn from them-all children are God's children. I do not support punishment of children on behalf of good or bad conduct-I would ratehr try to direct them to do good. and accept the fact that what is done has been done. and eventually "THY WILL BE DONE" I too realize that in todays by-laws that "spare the rod spoile the child" has drawn some hevy concern..just look at it this way-if your child were to grow up and rule a kingdom-what would it be like? | |
