| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 6:59:23 AM | Well what do you think? As a christian i don't believe there is life on other planets for the simple reason that Jesus came to EARTH and died for us on THIS planet, not on Mars. If there was to be other life "out there" then there would have to be another Jesus but the bible says "God so loved the world that he gave his ONLY Son that who so believeth shall not perish but have everlasting life" so it would be imposible!!!! What do you think? Come on chalenge my theory (or Gods truth?) xxxxxxx

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 7:34:14 AM | Sorry luv, I'm agnostic you know, and I do believe in extraterrestrial life forms. It will soon become fact, blowing open your belief. But there will still be some religions that will say: Hey, we knew it all the time... 'cause, of course, somewhere in the Bible there will be an answer to give for it.
I love your title choice of thread by the way... it will be long and successful... enjoy!

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 8:29:26 AM | Ok, IF we go with the bible. It does say he gave his only son.
BUT:
What's to say we weren't a proto type, and at the time Jesus was his only son. God watched for a bit, said, ok I know what I have to change here. These humans are just to warrior like, they want to kill and destroy all I gave them.
So I think I will make the next world minus humans, we will let the dolphins be the top creature, after all they are very smart.
And he only made one human, that could live forever and tend his wonderful *ant farm*
Yes I believe there is life on other planets, and would be real curious to meet them.
As long as we really aren't the food source for those aliens.

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 9:28:23 AM | As far as I am concerned, the numbers are just too staggering for there NOT to be life on other planets..
It was very eloquently put in a bit of dialogue from the move "Contact"
"If only 1 in a million stars had planets... And if 1 in a million of those planets could sustain life.. And if 1 in a million of those planets had life... And if 1 in a million of those had intelligent life... There would be literally MILLIONS of civilizations out there!"
Paraphrased of course..
The SECOND that extra-terrestrial life is found, it will finally disprove the bible and all the nonsense contained therein..

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 9:35:29 AM | | Of course there is life on other planets. There are bacterial traces on Mars, although they are open to interpretation, and thats from a very small scale investigation of the place. Given the variety of life found on Earth in what we would consider extremely inhospitable environments its practically a certainty that life will develop wherever it can. As permagrin put it there are so many out there there must be planets similar to Earth and they will no doubt have simialr lifeforms. It shouldnt really affect anyones religious views, unless they are so small minded as to take the Bible literally. | |

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 9:54:01 AM | Life has been found in conditions that would go beyond all belife were it not for the fact that it WAS there. It has been found in solid ice growing hapily in the south pole. It has been found in boiling hot geyers, where temperature of the water can reach boiling point, yet life survives. It has been found in cave systems cut off from light altogther, living off sulfur instead of light. It has been found deep in the earth, in bedrock two miles deep, eating away at the very rock itself. It dosent mater what the terain, life will find a way.
And there is most definately life in space, we know that for certain, as its clining to the surfaces of our satalites. (one of the reasons we have not yet sent a probe to the moon titan is that we do not wish to contanimnate it with earth bateria if there is any chance of life there)
As for life on other planets, well the building blocks of life are found floating freely in space, amino acids, sugars, carbohydrates, alkines and other such chemicals have been found in stelar gas clouds ad commet tails.
If there isnt life on other planets, I would want to know why not. It seems imposible to belive that amongst the billions of planets that could sustain inteligent earth like lifeforms (remember that life dose not have to be like we are, it may not even be carbon based).
The bible also dose not specificaly preclude the posability of life on other planets. It dose not state anywhere in the bible that god created only one inhabited planet amongst billions of posible ones. If you recon that god sending his only son to earth is proof that this is the only planet, well what of the posibility that he couldnt send a son to any other planet as they dont have a seperate male gender? Or even that our planet is the first planet to recive gods son so at the time of the bible it was true that god had only one son. Or EVEN that god sent his only son to several difrent planets reborn the same on each one? The bibel dose not rule out the posibility of life on other planetes. It is concerned solely with life on this one.

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 11:14:32 AM | | Isn't it funny how alot of people seem to percieve the possibility of e.t. life forms being more than a single cell based life form... Personally yes i believe and i believe there is (last time i bothered to check it was still considered questionable) proof, that there is evidence of etlife. | |

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 11:18:22 AM | who is to say that they are ET? perhaps they figured the time cntinuem and jumped back and forth Ourselves to say hey and hit over our own heads?
Or it's the russians and their secret Midgets.....LOL

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 11:20:26 AM | Maybe there is other forms of life. How would this disprove the Bible? The Bible never states that we are the only living planet. It just talks about this one.Only because it was written by men on this planet. So how does the Bible disprove other life and how would other life disprove the Bible?

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 11:34:42 AM | It depends what in your perception is an alian... i wanna go to the states so i can be an alian but seriously, there are bacterial and virul life forms that don't do the sci fi stuff you have mis understood the rationally post's owners' to be meaning... ie single cellular organisms | |

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 12:24:25 PM | Why is that such a stretch Jimmy,
Those that don't believe in God, can very easily believe in life on other planets. They keep saying that we are an accident of nature. That the componets were right and life was formed.
That happening on other planets is completely comprehensable without the interaction of a divine force.
I find it funny that people that believe in God don't believe in the Goddess.
|
| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 12:34:41 PM | I find it hard to believe that this universe with all it galaxys were formed by an explosion.I find it hard to believe that there is no divine force that did not create all this.
As far as there being a Godess I do not know. Therefore since I do not know then I can not say if there is or isn't one.
God bless and take care, Jimmy

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/23/2005 4:20:41 PM | A personal friend of mine, who happens to be non other that Nick Pope, and an ex-Minister of Defence for HM Government (amusingly termed X-Files Minister) of the UK and author of "Open Skies, Closed Minds" keeps me well informed of many things. Those of you who are interested in current UFO events (and the obvious implications of these things) might like to take a look here:

| Is there Life on other Planets? Posted: 8/24/2005 1:24:30 AM | | Just because there is only one Jesus Christ doesn't mean that there arn't any life forms on other planets. I believe very strongly in my God, but not once in the Bible does it mention that there are no other life anywhere. I find it hard to believe with all the love and compassion that God has to give that he would limit it to our small world. Even though we were saved from our sins, whos to say that that didn't happen on another planet? God does not reveal all of his plans or purposes on other topics in the Bible, why is this any different? If we knew everything then we wouldn't need him. | |
