| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/24/2005 8:41:33 AM | Ottawa Senators general manager John Muckler today announced the club has acquired right-winger Dany Heatley from the Atlanta Thrashers for right-winger Marian Hossa and defenceman Greg de Vries. The Senators have also signed Heatley to a three-year contract.
Any Comments?

yea, he should be in jail.
GO AVS GO!!!
Heatley pleaded guilty to four of six of the charges he faced, including: second-degree vehicular homicide, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane and speeding, and was sentenced to three years probation.
Heatley must also give 150 speeches about the dangers of speeding and is forbidden from driving except to work, the grocery story, for medical purposes, or to attend the speeches.
The car he drives must be approved by the court, the judge said, and will have a mechanism preventing it from going over 112 km/h.
The plea also keeps Heatley from being deported from the United States and ensures he can return to play in the NHL when the lockout ends.
District attorney Paul Howard said he thought the sentencing was fair.
So guess what...He's Not in Jail, and He's gonna have a good hand in whoopin' some Avalanche ASS!

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/24/2005 10:05:13 AM | Anyways ....This is not why I posted tyhe thread.../\ /\ /\ .....what I'm looking for is the Pros and Cons of losing Hossa/DeVries and gaining Heatley | |
|
| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/24/2005 10:23:17 AM | Pros for the Sens
-They clear cap space to resign Chara/Redeen and leaves space to pick up players at the trade deadline. -Heatly produced on an average team with only one other player that was really talented...coming to Ottawa he'll be surrounded by good players and he has so much potential being a hard working big Canadian forward. He can also start to move on with his life and not have the constant reminders of his accident. -Hossa was asking way more then he was worth and he never really produced in the playoffs (well not many Sens did)
For Atl -Hossa/De Vries are good solid players who'll help their franchise become more stable -losing Heatly will hurt Kovalchuck at first until he learns to play with Hossa
On an aside...AVS rule and will kick Ottawa a$$ when ever they play...

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/24/2005 6:21:41 PM | eh Sens maybe gave up a bit too much but they need the cap space so in that regard it was good
the real test will be in the playoffs.....we know Hossa is a bust so Heatly can't do any worse
|
| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/24/2005 11:51:01 PM | u gotta admit though, this trade wouldnt have happened under normal circumstance.
And what about kovalchuk, he said heatley goes so do i. or will he be happy with hossa???
|
| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/25/2005 10:10:50 AM | Smart trade by Muckler.....Hossa, although a great hockey player, became too big for his britches wanting big dollars....and let's face it Ottawa needs some fresh blood....I'm not sure how well Hossa would have produced this season without Bonk by his side anyways....don't get me wrong...I do believe Hossa is a great hockey player who will only get better and continue to develop in the next few years.....Heatley is agile, quick, skilled, brave and determined....all important traits for an up and coming superstar....the change, I'm sure, will benefit both organizations as both are strong offensive hockey players.
This trade opened a lot of eyes....both players and fans....don't think anyone expected to see someone of such caliber traded.
It thrills me the most because the MAKEBELEAF lovers absolutely hate that we got Heatley and that makes me smile the most.
Regardless to the trades and signings teams have made....this season will prove to be exciting and interesting....all teams are now on the same playing field....no stacking of teams no buying Stanley Cups.
Let the season begin!!!

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/25/2005 9:44:46 PM | | I really don't care how this move works out for the sens but I think it's a good one for Heatley. He definitely needed to get out of Atlanta. He wasn't even happy there BEFORE the accident. disliked playing in a city where hockey isn't even on the radar... | |

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 8/28/2005 6:44:41 PM | | heatley is not the player he once was he will have to work hard to get back to getting neer the platform he once was on. his eye injury in europe really meesed him up also. i think that playing in ottawa wil be good for him. maybein a year or 2 he will start to rise up again. or just maybe he might be that same heatley ottawa is hoping theregetting. | |

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 11/6/2005 8:45:56 AM | Now that we are 13 games into the Season, I thought we should resurect this forum. This was an awesome trade. Hossa has only gotten 6 goals and 10 assists as of last nights game and Heatly has 11 goals and 13 assists. Heatly is on the Hottest line in the NHL right now. The Spezza/Heatly/Alfredson line has 30 points this week alone. Every team in the league is talking about this line. The Sens are the 3rd best team (point wise) in the league right now (with 2 games less played). The teams above the Sens are Detroit and Montreal (We have beaten Montreal already twice). The Thrashers are 4th from the bottom. I don't think this is even a question that has to be answered any more.
GREAT TRADE......

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 1/8/2006 1:24:05 PM | I'd like to say also that having Heatly with the Ottawa Senators has been a treat. Even though as of late with Spezza and Afli out of the line up he's been a great trade. Let's hope that even with out Spezza and Afli he can be the go to man game in and out. Maybe a line with Schaef and Fish or something. The Ottawa Senators are unforuntenly down right now with Alfi Havlat, Spezz, and Bochenski ont he IR ( Injury Reserve) and though we're in a slump if some of the other player the likes of Fish, Shaef, Neil, Redden Chara and Vol step it up and dont' make the costley mistakes that have given the oposition odd man rushes we could be back to the Sens we were. Obviously we are not the same with the players out, however we can get through this.
Lets go Ottawa!!! | |

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 1/8/2006 5:49:51 PM | Heatley was an awesome trade but he hasn't done anything without Alfie and Spezza. Hopefully Alfie and Spezza will be back by the end of the week. Sens fans have to expect that we were going to lose some games especially with 3 of our top 4 goal scorers gone. I know I did and I was fine with that. I would much rather lose a few now then at the end of the season when it really counts.

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 1/10/2006 8:23:51 AM | WHOOO HOOO!!!!
Ottawa's Line will be back!!!! WHOOP there it is...
I can't wait to see the line its sad to say personally I think Heatly was NOT the same with out the likes of Alfi and Spezza with him... I think Heatley plays well when he's with GOOD players, Spezza Alif and Heatley have some sort of a connection that no other players have, they find each other and the net.
Can't wait to see the trio back scoring some goals
Let's go boys

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 1/10/2006 6:20:13 PM | Spezza is suppose to be back on Thursday. I am going to Thursday's game. It is going to be awesome to have the top line together again. They can beat Thorton's a*s*s. Hopefully Thorton will last longer then 5.5 minutes like he did tonight in Boston.

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 1/12/2006 8:02:59 PM | All right All right so tonight we got bit by the Sharks, and lost 2-0, i've heard different stories from different fans, Dean and Shawn on the Team1200 post game show said that that Senators played a good game and just couldn't get the job done, Brian Murray while doing his Live from the Lockerroom with Lee Versage, also mentioned the power play really lacked tonight.
A lot of emailers and callers are now worried about the Ottawa Senators due to the losing going on right now, I am a huge Ottawa Senators Fan and do not like watching them lose however don't lose faith in the orginization, we can still come around, we still have opporuntiries to show our selves off. Spezza hopefully will be in the line up Saturday I think is the next game and we'll see how things go from there.
Believe in your Ottawa Senators folks

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 1/13/2006 4:25:31 AM | Couldn't agree more HTC. This is no time to push the panic button. We will be just fine. The sens came up against a very hot goalie last night and give the Sharks credit they played well. They smothered us on the power play. If you noticed they put 4 guys on the blue line and we couldn't get thru. So hang in there this team is going to win just have patience...go sens go.... | |

| HEATLEY to SENS Posted: 1/13/2006 4:46:32 PM | Never give up on the SENS. Every team goes through a tough spot. IT is better that they get it out of their system now then right before the playoffs.
I was at the game last night and from what I saw, they SENS didn't play as hard as the SHARKS did. The score would have been a lot higher if it wouldn't have been for HASEK.
