yeah, I play as much as I can. I just started playing last year and have been hooked ever since. I dont have the same problem about getting to a course as you do. There are 3 courses within about 20 miles of where I live.

Hey...I play Disc Golf, in fact i own a disc golf company in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area.
We are sponsoring a disc golf tournament at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids on May 19th 2007.
This Tournament is being sponsored by Innova Champion Discs...and is to benefit the American Red Cross.
As far as genearl play..I have been playhing for over 20 years, and have had the opportunity to play a few courses around the country.

Please, any questions about discs, courses, or the tournament, feel free to contact me.

Looking forward to hearing from anybody and everybody !!

Throw to Win.

I love disk golf. I've played it in Alberta and BC. There is a course in Rundle Park Edmonton that is nice but very wide open. It looks like a miniture golf course. The courses I've played in Victoria BC are much more challenging. You have to thow a straight drive or your are looking in the trees. I wish there were more courses. They are not hard to make. Some sheet metal wrapped around a post works just as good as the fancier cages.

I've not gotten to play it much but have a few times and it was rather enjoyable. We have a couple of courses in the area, as well as there being a couple at home when I head back there after finals this week so I should be able to play more.

Yeah, if you have a chance to watch someone really good, it's amazing how far and straight they can throw. We have several long par 3's but for me they play more like par 4's. I've seen people drive them though. At least 130 yards.

I'm not a nut for it, but I try to get out a few time a year to play. It's fun, relaxing, gets you a bit of exercise, and at least around here is free as well. Plus, unlike "real" golf, I can actually go more than 20 feet at a time
It's becoming pretty popular out here (to the point where the courses can sometimes be overcrowded on the weekends) but mostly with "under 30" crowd it seems like.

Might sound like a stupid question...but I have no clue what disc golf is, I take it instead of driving a ball you hit something resembling a frisbee?

I'm from Scotland and have never heard of it.

Pretty much - the rules are very similar to "ball golf," but rather than getting a ball into a hole, you get a Frisbee-like disk into a basket.

Its a fun game. I have played it all over Missouri. I only know of one course in Arizona, and whenever I am in that town I play it when I can. Its really relaxing and a great way to meet friendly people.

Don't laugh at me cause I play frolf.... lol

Where I live, there are a few courses. I just played it last week in the Blue Mountain area course.

I'm not the best at it, but, you get good excercise when your disc goes flying off the side of a mountain (it happened to me several times).

Very fun...

I guess I'm what you call a fanatic...i live for discgolf in the summer! as a matter of fact, I just played one of the toughest courses in Michigan sunday...Hudson Mills, 48 holes of pure discgolf bliss! I'm sunburned to a crisp, I'm still really sore from all the walking and throwing, but it was a grand day!

my fave discs are...
Innova 150gr champion Firebird
Innova 177gr champion Beast
Innova 168gr XD dx series...great midrange and putter

I'm not a total Innova fan, I do like Discraft also. but until I find some discs that do me as well as my Innovas...I wont switch!

hudson mills eh? thats by my parents house in brighton. i havent played that course but ive played kensington and cass benton (which i love). ive also played TONS of courses on in grand rapids cause my sisters fiance lives out there so i go out and visit him and play a different course each time pretty much. im in kalamazoo right now though. the course in knollwood is short and easy, the course in oshtemo is alright. robert morris park out here has a good front 9 but the back 9 is pretty much all open and boring.
my fav discs are:
innova star Wraith 175
innova star TeeRex 175
innova star SL 175
innova archangel 175
innova star TL 175 (all-time fav)
discraft elite Z buzz 175

I mostly throw forehand, but I've been practicing my sidearm shot, one day I'll be too old to crush the long holes with a forehand shot, so I'll have my sidearm on point!

if im not mistaken, forehand/sidearm are the same thing. backhand is where u throw it like a frisbee. so u throw backhand like me?
