| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 9/13/2005 12:30:59 PM | Hiya mates and uh.. ok Hi everybody
I know video games are still played by alot of you. Men and woman all over enjoy to log online and kick some virtual butt now and again.
And those of you who do also have aggrivations about this as alot of kids play video games. However unlike alot of us they have not perfected the ole rant then backspace to moderate the amount of anger that may appear on your monitor. Some games have built in voice over IP engines so you get a 12 year old cussing in your living room. sigh.
Well I do a bit of game reviews for some web sites and alot of game promotions online and probably just as many LAN events with friends ( the oldest gamer I know is 63) If you are looking for fun games, or want to know about games that exsist that adults will find entertaining just post. the most popular game types are MMORPG ( Massive multy player role playing game) FPS First person shooter) Simulation action fantasy. All very fun stuff. I have played all of these types of games and have favorites in each catagory. If you have a game that does not work well on your system, it could be any number of configuration problems. But not really a PC issue. so ask away. I got alot of tip and tricks to. No cheats tho. I never cheat at a game lol So i cant help ya in that department.
Ok back to my MMORPG final fantasy :P one of my favs
damn I love that dancing banana

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 9/13/2005 5:59:36 PM | I like the post,
Just to start the topic off, what do you think about the recent MMORPG vs Reality issues that are being brought up in the media now adays.
Such as this mugging issue: link=http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4165880.stm
Or the murder case of the dragon saber: link=http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8143073/
On another topic, I've recently just finished Halo 2 and I am in repreive on any xbox games, is this the best? Or can you offer some alternatives?

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 9/14/2005 9:05:50 AM | OK as far as Xbox games or any console game goes your kinda at the mercy of big corporations and what they decide to let game makers make. Sad but its all abou tmoney. Not much as far ass freedom in dev dept. However PC games have alot more freeedom and configurability to them and the PC audieance al;so contributes to expsansion packs and MOD game types for alot of your favorite games. Try Halo for PC and you will see a defiante differance in players and the game itself.
PC games normally have CLANS which are up to date on any changes for the game that may be downloaded. Halo is currantly on the top listings for playability and community.
Games and vilent acts coming to real life. MMORPG and FPS are th ebigggest to get blamed. Ive been gaming since 88 and let me tell you this. Games do not influence kids or anyone else to commit crimes. The thought to do things to harm another person is already a part of them. The game does not bring it out of anyone it is part of who they are. We are alll old enuff to to know we are responsable for our actions. And if you PLAY games (not watch them being played.. HUGE differance) you would know a video game can not make anyone turn into a mass murder. Just because the last thing a adult seen a kid do was play Grand theft auto and he was found later to be cara jacking.. he was doing hte car jacking anyway as the parents failed to instill the porper amountof fear into their child to keep him off the streets ( I was raised with firm whuppins) Not that I would pratcie that type of behavor lol But I played game for long enuff that if it was going to turn me into a criminal killer or what ever Im sure I have had enuff exsposer that would of happend already. But really this isnt the place to discuss gameas and viloence :) Just games to have fun. (really games being blamed for kids doing crap on the street is not even logical. ) I have found gam,es distastefull but I cannot go and blame a video game for the actions of Real life events. ( these crimes were happening log before the game. they used to blame it on pot smokers. Come to find out pot smokers are to unmotivated to do crtimes.) So dont blame the game. Blame the player.
MMORPG are some the best games to get tho as they take forever to complete and offer more of a escape.
Halo for PC .. Try it I know youll love it. Lots of MODifications to try on that one too.
( we can discuss MODifications later. ( MODS)
Thnks.. Great openers!

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 9/14/2005 5:52:01 PM | Well I kind of misworded that wrong, I do understand your point about games not being a direct link to youth violence/crime.
What I was mainly trying to bring up was the fact that games are leeching into a common place now, as you can see with the 2 articles, they are speaking about game equipment, money experience etc, is it possession and if it is stolen does it count as theft in the court of law?
As well, with the extent that gamers are instilled with these games; somebody has died as a direct corrolation to selling somebody's sword. This again is still just a marvel of programming code, can you comment on it? I asked you specifically simply because you showed huge interest in MMORPG and I wanted to hear a view from the other side.
To give a little background knowledge: I was a huge fan of the diablo series, while I was addicted nonetheless I don't think I could have brought myself to filing a claim at the local police station for somebody going hostile and ripping me to shreads with whatever spell/sword they had. I too, couldn't imagine stabbing anybody if they sold even my entire account.
If this message makes any sense, simply another useless rant by the beloved me :D

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 9/15/2005 5:31:07 AM | Hmmm It is no doubt that MMORPG games are more addicitve than any other type game. The only thing that compares is, uh, chat forums lol. However any wrong doings in the game stay in game. Or they should. The first rule about Virtual friends and enemies. They are virtual. The game and the player do releate and the layer and his true personality do come out in the wash. But, it is still a virtual landscape and no court of law can really deal with someone selling a sword they stole form another oplayer. Even tho it does cost ( gold gil ) or what ever currancy the mmorpg may be using. Hmm.. I play Final fantasy so I see quite a bit of this. (Gil sellers and gil buyers) People who sell game currancy to reallife players for real money so they can use it in game to buy supplies weapons and armor. For players wo do not partake in the buying of game currancy they feel totoally wripped off and call the buyers cheaters. The gil sellers monopolize specific monster spots to get high priced items to sell to have the gill to sell to real worldplayers inthe firstplace. This is defiantly game meets real world. It really has no place in the real world as it is a GAME. But the addicition, which even i felt my first years involved with MMORPG ( diablo as well)
Death and video games? Yes it has happend. at least 5 documanted cases. It has to do with a seizure type effect after spending ( in the cases so far over 46 hours of non stop gameplay) It is when htey leave the monitor they fall over. I have gamed in game tournies for 36 to 40 hours. But many breaks the whole time. Im still here. SO i figure no water or food nor a pee break may of lead to those players demise. Uh .. ok im late for work lol sorry for the typos.

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 12/20/2005 9:25:53 AM | Well it has been a while since my last post, Just wanted to pass out some more game knowledge as some of you have kids and some of you play.
Well, now that the game industry is competeing directly with the Movie industry you shuold fasten your seatbelts. Games are going to be a main form of entertainment and even more so into 2006, to 2007. By 2008 games and movies will be pretty much inseperatable. Already has movies like fantastic four and Kong have had games released almost as soon or before Movie even hits theeaters. First tip. DO NOT play game before seeing movie!
In any future case .. do not play game before movie. It will totally ruin the movie for you as the game is so much based on the movie story that you are essentually playin ghte movie. In the past when a movie and game had been released the game would use the same characters but gave you a slightly diff storyline .. But you did have to see the movie to get game clues. Nowadays they are totaly abusing one script.
But.... near the mid of 2006 I figure they will make games and movies only slightly differant and will not stik to the movie story so tightly.
( which makes for a better game as it wont be a duplicate but an exstension of the movie)
As well.. take note of the movie rating.. the game will be even more graphic than the movie if it is a gore shootem up type move ( see Doom)
As well, keep in mind not all movie games are for kids. For example... people think Grand theft auto types games are bad.. and for young adults.. they are.. the impressions the game promotes of human behaovr are for people who really really know it is not a good thing to rape a hooker.(uh yes.. hookers are really people too)
But that game is for adults.. But some games like MANHUNT ... ohmy goodness.. even as a game player and competitor even I found that game to be in poor poor taste. Getting bonus points for smothing aperson with a plastic bag was not my idea of a goo dtime passing game.. I actaully had to uninstall it and I play ALOT of game.. but found that just plain distastefull.. BUT .... it was not any differant to a rob zombie movie.... so uh... if movies liek that are published.. a game like Manslughter cant be stopped. So if Rob Zombie is one of your favorite writers of messed up gore.. Manhunt is a game you would probably like. and if so.. I would not feel comfortable hanging around you as we prob dont share the same life morals lol
Video games and movies are totally feeding off each other and inthe end movies will feed off the game... If you do not want totally screwd up mental games.. adults need to make sure movies dont get out of hand.. they will only code a game to be .. Uh aggressive if the public allows..... Put restrictions on movies ( only a few as of today) and the game .. which is currantly leeching off of that crowd will not escalate beyond what the public will endure. If movies can get anymore gory......it will only be natural for a gmae to be as gory as the movie. and... that.. is whgen kids must be censord. we may think :so what" to certain types of material.. but a 12 year old boy or girl can total;ly get the wrong information out of somehting.
Okay... and after all of that.. Im going to play some final fantasy online.. one of the more benine games I play.
again sorry for the typos !
Now a GREAT game that is NOT a movie yet is F.E.A.R WOW scary game. (not sik and twisted) but scary ! scary liek uh.... Signs (movie) or The Ring scary.. great game.. Uh if your chil dis under 16 it MAY give nightmares as it is a pretty trippy game.. lots of bullets flying but the story itself.. .. creeeeepppyyy.. great game awsome story awsoem effects.

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 12/29/2005 11:17:59 AM | I just felt like posting and explaining about the different genres of games as well as a handful of other things that may have been discussed. (I have nothing else to do right now and I know quite a bit about video games and the video game industry.)
As time goes on video games are becoming a more widely accepted as a form of entertainment as apposed to the early 90's. The video game industry is now on par with the film industry at roughly $11 Billion dollars a year and is slowly passing them up (Unless you count popcorn sales and the extra revenue from DVDs and such in which case the video game industry has a long ways to go).
One of the reasons video games are becoming more and more popular is the way video game stories are told. YES! The stories in a video game do make a huge difference. Anyone who has played a Role Playing Game (RPG) can tell you that the stories in those types of games rival Hollywood scripts and even books such as "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings". I don't know about you, but I don't mind paying $50 for a 50+ hour game over $20 for a 2 hour movie. As the new generation of video game consoles come out, Xbox 360 was just released and the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Revolution are just on the horizon, the quality of games will be top notch and will attract new people to the medium.
The Video Game industry is moving forward and i'll be following to await the day video games take the place of movies as the #1 entertainment medium in every household.
As for Genres, nearly every video game genre can be likened to a film genre, and this may give you a good idea as to what you want to play if you are considering trying video games for the first time. I will list similar movies as well as the top games for you.
Action - Action games are fast paced, nonstop and just plain fun. The controls are simplistic and the games run about 10 hours (max). Although they are short, game designers are coming up with new ways to make the games longer or at least add some things. God of War, for one, takes place in ancient Greece. Ares, the God of War, attacks the city of his sister Athena, it is up to you, Kratos, whom was given the power of a god to stop him once and for all. I beat the game in roughly 6 hours, but when I did, there was much more. Levels that were dropped from the main game become playable as well as a music video and a "Making Of" feature make the game more than worth the money.
Similar Movies (by Genre) - Face-Off, The Matrix, and Men In Black Games - God of War, The Matrix: Path of Neo, and Dynasty Warriors
Role-Playing Games - Personally, my favorite Genre. There aren't a lot of movies like these games, but how could there be? RPGs run around 60 hours (I've played some as long as 150 hours) The primarily involve a protagonist exploring the world and gaining allies along the way to help save the world (or country or even the universe). The story in an RPG is it's strong point, and if the story is crap, the game usually bombs. The games usually take place in a fantasy setting (Although the Shadow Hearts series takes place in the early 1900's) and involve swords and sorcery. The music in RPGs is another strong point, some RPGs have scores that could blow movie scores out of the water. A recent convention in L.A. held a concert in which music from a popular RPG series was played in front of a live audience by a live orchestra, it quickly became a world tour. The next step for RPGs is an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) These types involve thousands of people playing together on a single world. Games such as Final Fantasy XI, World of Warcraft and Everquest are MMORPGs and considered to be the most addictive genre out there. Anyhoo...
Similar Movies (By Genre) - Lord of the Rings....uh... Games - Final Fantasy series, Suikoden series, Star Ocean series, Pokemon series
(I'll do one more genre for now)
Simulation - There are NO movies that can be compared to the genre. It's impossible for a movie to have the same non-linearity as this type of game. If you've never played a video game before, this is the way to start. Although there usually isn't much of a story for these types of games, just playing them is well enough to keep people hooked. They are simple and progress based on what you want to do. There isn't a whole lot more I can say about this genre, it's pretty difficult.
Similar Movies (By Genre) - ......? Games - Sim City, The Sims, Civilization and Spore (Spore is made by Will Wright, the creator of the Sims.)
That's all for now. More next time.

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 12/29/2005 11:41:40 AM | Ah ha, violent video games.
The entire reason the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Bureau) was created was to give ratings to games based on violence, adult content, and language. It's up to the parents (as well as retailers) to keep certain games out of the hands of children.
Here is a quick list of the ratings.
Early Childhood (EC) - This is "lowest" rating a game can get. The games are suitable for children age 3+ and will have no content parents may find unsuitable.
Everyone (E) - Suitable for children age 6+. May contain minimal cartoon violence and/or language.
Everyone 10+ (E10+) - This rating is for children age 10+. The game may contain very mild language and cartoon violence.
Teen (T) - Rating for children 13+ this rating goes to games that may contain violence, suggestive themes and minimal blood, crude humor and strong language.
Mature (M) - These games are for those 17+. They may contain blood and gore, intense violence, sexual content and strong language.
Adults Only (AO) - Off the top of my head I can't think of any games that have this rating (Although an old game called "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties" may have). The game may include prolonged scenes of intense violence or graphic sexual content and nudity.
Ratings Pending (RP) - You will NEVER see a game with this unless it is a preview. The ESRB rates EVERY game that comes out without exception.
Now, as far as say, God of War, Manhunt, Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil go, they aren't supposed to be neccesarily fun. They are supposed to be entertaining. Have you ever watched say, Dawn of the Dead and had a laugh riot? Probably not, the movie was entertaining but was not fun. The same goes for games. Grand Theft Auto allows YOU to do as you wish. Beating up hookers after having sex with them to get your money back is something you CAN do, but the game never tells you to do it. Don't blame the game because of what goes on in your mind.
Manhunt is something I will agree with however, and the designer (Dan Houser) himself said " Anyone who finds suffocating a person to death with a plastic bag is sadistic and must have problem stemming from his/her own life ". (Not the exact quote but close.) He said he never made the game to be "fun" he made it to show how violent games CAN be, and has no plans on making a similar game in the future.
Anyway, that's all. More later. (I know I said that before but I needed to say something about the violence issue)

| In Reply To #1 Posted: 12/29/2005 12:41:29 PM | I'm one of the few that is a gamer expert. Let just start off and say that PC gaming is the best and is superior to any console gaming 1000 fold, PERIOD. Yes I understand most people cannot afford to keep up with PC gaming as it gets expensive but still it is superior.
So I see you are a game reviewer for the media.
Let me say that you game reviewers never and I mean never get the ratings down correctly.
I've been playing games since Pong then Atari 2600 well you get the drift. No matter what game reviewers say and I seen them all there is no excuse for most of the ratings that you give out.
I've actually only seen maybe but a handful where you guys hit it on the nose but it is extremely rare.
Ok now moving on, MMORPG's are dead, that genre has been beating a dead horse for some years now and most people are growing stagnant with it for many reasons.
FPS online gaming is where it is right now and has been for years as well. Your three top FPS games currently are Battlefield 2, ( Minus Special Forces Expansion it blows big chunks), FEAR and Counterstrike. Quake 4 is not bad and is a little addicting too.
Single Player RPG's look for Neverwinter Nights 2 when it releases and Elder Scrolls:Oblivion two most promising titles.
Anyways yes I still game and I'm 36 but I only get to do it once in a great while as I'm a very busy person. I know how to differate between responsibilties and free time. Some people get carried away with gaming and neglect everything else in their lives.

| In Reply To #1 Posted: 12/29/2005 1:14:51 PM | With the line between Console and PC games becoming blurred it is hard to claim which is superior.
You said the PC was, but failed to list the reasons why. Consoles are now becoming more and more powerful and with the release of the Playstation 3, I believe (note) consoles will eventually become the video game medium of choice in the future. Just look at the screenshots! I don't base games on graphics nor have I ever, but with the next generation of consoles, PCs will pale in comparison visually. And so many games are being ported from PCs to consoles (Ex. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind) and visa-versa. Further proof that the line is becoming blurred.
As far as prices go, I would rather pay $300-$350 for a console that will last 5 years without me having to put anymore money into it versus a PC which needs constant upgrades, not to mention the price of games/expansions/online fees etc. I'm not bashing PC games, Call of Duty was a great game and so is Everquest 2, but I would rather sit in a comfortable recliner across the room to play a game apposed to sitting on a chair with my face pressed against the screen of my PC.
Back to the next generation of consoles, All of the new consoles will be online enabled, meaning you can play games online with other people (for those who were wondering) again something only the PC could do less than 5 years ago.
As for MMORPGs, they are far from dying out. World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XI have a combined total of 711,000 players (Those are just the ones I could account for) and Everquest and Everquest II are in the millions. That's not to mention other free downloadable MMORPGs and one or two console MMORPGs.
And I will agree with you that MMOFPS games are and will most likely remain the dominate genre for online play. But again, that may change with the next generation of consoles going online.
(Edit) Nearly forgot...
As for Game Reviewers, the reviews are not meant to please you. Fans of different genres play the same game for a variety of scores. Games are also not reviewed based upon one thing. Music, Gameplay, Replayability, Story, Controls and just how fun it is all factor into the overall score. Because you disagree with the reviews doesn't make them wrong. And if you think they are dead wrong, just buy the games that get bad reviews, by your logic, you'll love them.

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 12/29/2005 2:43:47 PM | As Zim stated earlier (Way earlier, like 4 months) console games are at the mercy of large companies as far as the development process goes. However, companies like Microsoft, Bungie and Konami have a great deal of freedom in making their games, Microsoft provides game development studios for upstart companies as well as companies struggling to keep afloat, this is one reason the Xbox has become popular among developers as well as gamers. They are allowed the freedom to make the games as they wish as long as they are "Xbox Only" or Xbox exclusive for a period of time. This was a smart move for Microsoft as the system's line-up ballooned in a short period of time with quite a few great titles in the mix that "sold" skeptical gamers into getting an Xbox.
Some people don't know this, but Bungie has been around a LONG time (I believe since the late 80's early 90's) and due to their track record of making great games (even if they didn't sell well) gives them the freedom to experiment and take extra time making their games.
Konami as well, Hideo Kojima is one of the greatest designers out there. After the success of his Metal Gear series he was allowed to take time and money to better research things (Guns/Equipment/etc) for his games. Not only that, he is given the freedom to mess around with his games to make them more enjoyable. Again, Metal Gear Solid, you infiltrate a terrorist base and one of your main defenses is a cardboard box you can hid in. That was just a small example, he is allowed to inject his own sense of humor into the games because of his history of success.
Some companies, however, really restrict what a developer can do. SQUARESOFT (Now SQUARE-Enix) demands quality in a minimal amount of time. This leads to some poorly designed games. Hironobu Sakaguchi, the head producer for the Final Fantasy series got sick of this and left to make his own company (MistWalker). In doing so he left the company with a half finished game that no one has any idea what to do with (After playing a demo, I see how horribly they fouled it up). By restricting the game designers, the companies only hurt themselves in the long run.
So, it is a mix of being lenient and restrictive, where the lenient usually put out some great games and the restrictive put out sub par titles that depend on the company's logo or previous successes to sell the game.
PC's however DO have the upper hand in this area, by allowing the gamers themselves to create content or by releasing patches and mods to fix the game up or keep it popular without spending a lot of money to do so. But this too may be something consoles will be able to do in the future.
(I need to find something else to do. I'm bored.)

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 1/1/2006 12:48:14 AM | You shouldn't steal people's virtual magical swords and not expect to be murdered. I know its not something I should be joking about. Sanctity of human life and all that. But it really is absurd.
Just imagine. If this is one of a few cases that have come to light (knowing that reported cases are the tip of the iceberg), how many people have really been bumped off over virtual weapons, experience points, etc, in role playing games?
Really makes you wonder....

| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 1/1/2006 1:06:25 AM | Sure, I'll weigh in on this thread.
First, PCs and Consoles excel in different areas.
I contend that PCs are far superior in FPS and RTS controls because I've never met a console controller that works as well as a keyboard/mouse.
Platformers, Fighting games, and Side scrolling shooters are better on a console controller. I've emulated some of my favorites in the past, and the keyboard just is no substitute for a well designed controller for these games.
RPGs, Action games, and adventure games can work well on either platform, but often games will be designed with a specific control scheme in mind.
Flight sims are best with a flight stick, which often you can only get on a PC, and racing games are best with a wheel/pedals controller.
Due to this stratification of optimal control schemes, I seriously doubt we will see either platform disappear any time soon.
On the MMORPG issue, I personally am not fond of them. The plots in them are usually simplified and not as dramatic or over arching as stand alone RPGs. Also the community often leaves much to be desired. Finally there is the issue of control. If the game developers make several decisions that you dislike you have no recourse. Its not like you can just avoid patching, you have to accept their changes and often they are not for the better. That being said, they are probably the single most popular video game genre out there right now. It is a very profitable idea and a lot of companies are jumping on board to reap the rewards.
I personally preferr RTSs (Real Time Strategy), TBSs (Turn based Strategy), and RPGs (Role Playing Games). As a result, I tend to preferr the PC platform, but there are many console games I like as well and currently have a game cube, PS2, PSone, Genesis, Saturn, N64, and Atari 2600 plugged into my entertainment center.
I've been playing games since I was old enough to hold a joystick (many gamers now are not even familiar with joysticks).
Top 10 games for me are, in no particular order:
Elite II Frontier Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries Starseige Tribes Knights of the Old Republic Fallout Fallout 2 Starcraft Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War Sid Meyer's Alpha Centaurii Xenogears
Its really hard to pick so few favorites though.
|
| Video games. Oh you play them too. Posted: 1/3/2006 1:07:59 PM | A Xenogears fan! You're my new best friend!
Okay, I agree with you whole heartedly that PCs have better controls for RTS games, and although I hate to admit it, FPS as well, the dual analog setup for the Xbox and Playstation 2 are as good as you can get for a console.
I also agree that the plots in an MMORPG are extremely weak. But that's to allow gamers to create their own stories without breaking their sense of immersion with a cut scene or whatnot.
Example: FFXI - I was playing late one night and wanted to get a drink, I sat my character next to a fire and went "afk". When I came back someone was sitting by me talking. We started chatting and after about a half hour we had over a dozen people sitting around the "campfire" telling stories about our game experiences. Things like that made the game worth having, not the endless hours of gameplay, huge world or tons of things to do.
Very, very rarely will a console get that right. So far the only game I can think of where you can do your own thing and still proceed throughout the game is Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind on Xbox.
Um anyway...
If you're a console RPG fan I suggest Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant. It had a great story, awesome music, lovable characters and was just plain funny.
Since you listed yours, I may as well.
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant Dynasty Warriors 3 Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy 3/6 Lufia 2 Earthbound Xenogears Legend of Mana Final Fantasy Tactics Suikoden 2
There are a ton more I love but can't remember off the top of my head. As you can see I am an RPG as well as a Strategy RPG fan.
(Edit: Ah yes, joysticks. LOL! Makes me feel old knowing I know what they are. I remember the "dial" on the controller for Pong too.)

Vilmer, you sir have some good taste in games. You listed off some of my favorites as well. In fact, both Final Fantasy 3/6 and Chrono Trigger were in contention for the spot Xenogears won.
By the way, if you love RPGs, which you apparently do, I highly reccomend you try some of the PC RPGs that have been out there over the years.
Fallout 1 and 2 are truly great. Also they are exceptionally open ended and since they are somewhat old, you should be able to pick them up for a song and run them on an older machine.
Also you would probably enjoy Planescape Torment. Kind of a quirky game, but it is set in a very unique world that is very well explored by the end of it.
Then there are the Baldur's Gate games, Baldurs Gate II was better than the first, but they were both very good. Their expansions were... lackluster however.
I'll have to look into Shadow Hearts. I have heard a lot of good things about it. Please tell me it is not XBox exclusive, I do not own and will probably never own an Xbox. Just too few games that interest me on it to warrant the cost.

I currently have GTA: Liberty City Stories and Tokobot. I'm looking for a RPG or FPS with online (Ad-hoc or Infrastructure) multiplayer. Got any ideas?

I was a PGL(for those who know what that is) competitor for 3 years in both Quake2 / Quake3.
Now I play such games as Quake 4, Half-Life 2, Unreal Tourn. 2004, Soldier of fortune for fun...When I'm not playing there I'm usually writing code for a Lineage server I run, or am busy playing Evercrack 2.....
Needless to say Im a gamer geek to the core.... :( lol
