| What do you miss most about being a kid?
Posted: 9/19/2005 10:05:03 PM | I miss the cheezy shows like the dukes of hazzard, the original charlies angels, greatest american hero...
I miss sitting on my dad or mom's lap as they read to me...
Being able to call out their names when I am sick, and they are right there with a cup of tea and a blanket (funny how as we get older, those roles are reversed, but even now, my mom will make me a cup when I go 'home' to see them :( and dad still reminds me I am still his girl, even though not so little anymore) I miss them tucking me in at night with my faithful teddy by my side
the biggest worries I had involved getting the latest posters for my walls (usually kiss, dukes, and yes, rick springfield lol), seeing if my hair was feathered just right, and when i was younger than that, if santa actually listend to my requests...(usually included smurfs and the latest snoopy related items)..
And not to worry about rent, career, relationships, health, the world...
So what do you all miss? And if you could be a kid again for just one day - what would you do? | |

Posted: 9/19/2005 10:13:09 PM | | I'm so much happier now than when I was a kid. Most of my life growing up I was plagued with depression and felt pretty much worthless. Getting out of bed and facing the world was a daily chore that I abhored. Much of my life growing up I chose not to revisit. Life is so much better now as an adult. | |

That is a problem with a lot of peoples childhood, including my best friend. I wish everyone could have some good memories of when they were a child, but thats not so...
some of us definatley had it better than others. I have had some shite luck lately, but as far as parents go, I had (and still have) the cream of the crop and huge luck. Sure things were not perfect, there were arguements, tears, some tough times financially, but they were always there. Even today - mom and dad still look after their 'kids' (especially the last bad breakup I had, they were both there for me, comforting me and reassuring me that things were going to be okay- when things looked bleak). But now mom and I are more friends, but I will always be daddys little girl..

Posted: 9/19/2005 10:31:47 PM | oh no not at all! I actually have great parents who I am now very close to. I didn't want for anything (food, shelter, violin lessons, riding lessons) and have a good family. The depression thing came mostly from bullying, but that's for a different thread.
I didn't mean to get on the soapbox with a whiney violin. Sorry!
Let's hear some good childhood stuff!

I am glad you had good parents :) Sorry i jumped to conclusions...
(and no it wasn't a whiney violin, i hated the school I went to for friggin 12 years, and the people actually never changed, but now the smoke dope around their children, and drink and drive with their kids in the cars).

I miss getting excited about the smallest things(actually, I still kinda do lol) Not having any serious worries, at the time some things could seem so horrible but after a day a lot was forgotten. I miss when boys had cooties and we ran from them, and thinking that my parents were perfect like super heros. I miss believing in Santa Clause and the easter bunny.

- not worring about bills (rent, phone, insurance, etc...)
- my childhood friends
- cutting school to just hang out
- no responsabilities
- saturday morning cartoons
- boys were gross
- mom doing my laundry, cleaning up after me, mom "waiting on me hand and foot"
- family road trips and dad screaming "if you kids don't shut up i'm turning the car around" when we were 4 hours from home and an hour from the cottage
- beating up my step brothers (now they're huge! LOL) | |

I miss playing house with my best freind and her name was always Rose,,and mine was always Penny (loved that name from Lost in Space haha)
I miss my dad taking us to the drive-in (we dont have drive-ins here anymore) in our jamma's and making our own popcorn,,,watching a scary movie
I miss laying on my stomach on the floor with my feet up watching episodes of The Twilight Zone with my best freinds' dad lol (hi im talking tina and i dont like you! haha we still talk about that particular episode!)
i really miss my grandma taking me and my 2 brothers camping and making those yummy pies with the pie irons and sitting around the campfire, and her taking me for rides on her bike withme sitting in the back fender.

My parents were so strict! A dad who was a marine and a mom who was his drill instructor! (so she seemed) 4 siblings , in which i was constantly fighting with and a buttload of homework. No way would i want to repeat that. The only thing i could come close to missing was my weiner dog named buddy! At least he was there to lick my face when i cried lol | |

Being able to run around all day, and not have a single muscle ache,
The nature walks I had with my grandpa.........it was always a competiton to find the best walking stick..........and he always smelled of rub A535........man I still love that smell!!! lol. | |
