What if they don't drink booze at all?

Hey all,
there are guys and gals out there that dont drink alcohol at all. Personally I tend to think that because this society is so fixated on the use of it, these few stand a lesser chance of "hooking up".

Whats your take on Liquor? would you go out with someone that doesnt need the poison?
Do you think it could ever work out in the long run?

Im curious to hear what you have to say.

Thanks.

Why are you calling it poison? Does thismean you would judge a person who drank it?

I would have no problem dating someone who didn't drink. After dating an alcoholic I think i would rather. But, on that note, the person better be able to handle that I enjoy drinking. Not drinking to get wasted plastered and not remember the night. But to enjoy myself.

Working out in the long run, sure, as long as one or the other can handle what the other does.

Still wondering if you might be the one that judges though.

I drink socially but haven't been drunk (or even had a buzz) in about 7 years. I don't need alcohol to have fun. And as I'm prone to memory loss - I prefer the sober route.

I do like the occasional margarita with my meal though, so if someone was completely against the idea of ME consuming then I would probably not expect anything to develop there (unless they had a valid reason). eg: If the person is a recovering alcoholic it would be unfair to drink around them. I would never put alcohol above a great connection though, so if everything else was awesome - I can lose the margarita as well.

Just my 2 cents.

depends on how uptight the person is about it. Is it a moral thing, 'hey that's a sin'. or is it just a personal choice. Will they expect you not to drink if you're with them...

Sorry no judgements. You can do as you please.
The difference between ethel and methyl (grain vs wood) is only a couple of atoms...besides I have seen the effects of chronic use. Its nasty how it works...
Its your body. I have no control nor do I judge, but because I care, I would most likely show my concern... without ruining your good time that is. did that make sence?

Totally agreed with Devilish.

I like a few social drinks, and if Mak is around perhaps a few more.

If she doesnt mind then all is good, I have an automatic DD.

Makes sense enough.

So really. Its you that would have the problem if you were dating someone that drank?

I agree many take full advantage and don't know how to control and ruin their bodies. My ex for example and his family. But I do not think drinking at a moderate level is gonna kill you.

No i dont think i have a problem if its on a social scale. If you live to get pissed everyday then there is a problem that everyone would see. that's when something has to give. I find it amazing how it is legal to drink. some people get into cars and kill other people because of it. yet its illigal to use pot, which i dont think has ever killed anyone and if it has, the stats are far less than those of alcohol.

I can go either way, it really doesn't matter...if she doesn't drink, cool...if she does, cool.. I like my beer personally. It is definitely not a prerequisite though.

RTT - I seen a commercial that opened my eyes a while ago about driving while high. Its not dominant in the media like drinking and driving but its still a high risk thing to do. Check your stats on that one

I remember one time on New Years Eve. The taxi driver was in worse condition than I was.

I think that being alcohol free would be a good thing, as long as she didn't mind me drinking on occasion.
Still, if given the choice, I would rather her not drink, than to be always drinking. I'm just not that interested in babysitting......

But, ideally, it would be nice for there to be some happy medium........ a couple of drinks on an evening out, the occasional glass of wine while dining, that type.

I hear ya Rus. I was just saying.. I think more people drink&drive but i cant verify. Im just going on basic social acceptance. By that I mean that liquor is by far more easily obtained than pot. Im quite sure that the ratio of liquor stores to pot stores is quite steep. just an observation.
