OK, recently (since the start of September) I have been getting boils. I had my first one on my left arm, went to the doc, got that taken care of, got on meds, then it went away after a couple weeks... The this week I got another bigger one (seriously it looked like a breast, it's nasty) on the back of my left thigh, now I have a little baby one on my right arm. I went to the doctor again where they put me on more medication. The little one doesn't seem to be getting any bigger and the HUGE one that takes up most of the back of my thigh is starting to go away and itches from healing.

These are my questions...

How do I prevent more?
Why do I suddenly get them when I NEVER got them before?
Why me? :P
Does this happen to anyone else?
Anyone want to tell me about it? I don't want anymore because I have NEVER felt this much pain in my life until the doc lanced the one on my thigh.

Could it maybe be something you're eating?

Or possibly another kind of allergy? They say people can become allergic to something at any point in their lives.

Older people get them, I have seen three people with them in my life, so it happens. Most people live with them and I am not sure why.

Yea the doctor said some people never get them while other get 1 their whole life and other keep getting them. She said I since I have eczima and scratch a lot, the "bugs" get in the wounds and that's how it happens. I don't believe that because I have had eczima my while life and that didn't happen till now. And POP went those weisels! I just want to know how to prevent them. They suck!

pple who are diabetic or have some type of immune dysfunction can also be prone to them.....there is some evidence that shows that certain antidepressants can contribute to getting boils but i'm not very certain of this.........also, stress and anxiety play a huge role, especially for those who have conditions such as eczema, which can stem from an over active immune system disorder..........your doc should make sure you don't have diabetes or other serious such conditions........boils or absesses are also commonly seen in those who use injectable drugs and in those who drink heavily!

Surely gods punishing you for something? Ever cheat on a test? Or wear white after labour day? Maybe stretch a yellow light just a bit too far? Look into that area, cause doc's are all quacks! Utter nonsense with them!

Try a Naturopath Dr or Homiopath, treat the whole system, not just the symptom. That's my 2 cents. I have had some serious stuff cured by a Naturopath.

My experience with boils is not a personal one but I have been practicing skin care for 17 years and have worked for several dermatologists.

First docs don't know exactly what causes a boil.
Stress can be a major contributer to a breakout of boils.
There is a salve you can buy over the counter called "boil ease" Right Aid also makes a generic version.
Eating a wholesome diet, very little refined foods. NO FASTFOOD AT ALL.
Stay away from, Sugar, Caffeine, Spicy Foods, and anything else that is toxic to your body.
Consider your monthly cycle is it normal, on time or do you skip it, or have very long cycles.
That can also be very toxic to your body.
Drink as much clean filtered water as you can.
Rest.
Do something nice for yourself.
Take vitamins that include lots of B's and antioxidents
The homeopathic remedy Hepar Sulfer 30c dose every hour for up to 10 doses.
Warm compress.
An epsome salt ,1 cup, bath with the essential oil Chamomile, 20 drops, soak with no soap for 20 min.

Your skin is the largest organ your body has ,when your toxic it will react in a way to release those toxins. They say people who get boils are actually healthier than people that don't because their body doesn't hold on to the toxins. DO NOT PICK AT ALL, THAT WILL SPREAD THE INFECTION. I find that letting the boil run it's course rather than lancing is a better alternative. You can speed up the drainage by using a heating pad and the Boil Ease salve I mentioned earlier. You are not the only one that gets them but most people are not as brave as you to admit they get them. Try to pick up an activity that makes you feel good and relieves stress. Like Yoga, Meditation, Knitting, Scrapbooking......
Love, Light and Peace

What I did was take warm compresses of salt water and soaked it for 30 minutes every few hours (it worked GOOD!) Now since the one on my leg is eerr sorry to gross anyone out (but the whole thread is gross I'll just say it lol) I popped it and got all the crap out. There is a small hole in there now. I should show pics lol. I swear I had a C cup breast on the back of my leg. It's starting to heal nicely, but man this is weird! All of a sudden, BAM there they are. Thanks for the suggestions and comments guys, I really appreciate them all!!!

wish I could help, unfortunately I don't know much on the matter. I do have a very minor case of eczema though, which occurs every now and again. My guess would be allergies. Good Luck girl, get better!

Don't you worry darling, I'm not afraid to admit that I once had one and had to be hospitalized to have it removed surgically (well, lanced and drained, fcuk!)! I was on percocets and off work for 2 weeks! Once they become abcesses they can poison your system and make you really ill! Did you know that repetitive irritation to a part of your body can cause them?

It was honestly one of the most painful things to ever happen to me, and it was a result of continuous skin irritation due to clothing - believe it or not!

Yea, it IS messed up. The first one and the one on my leg took up most of my arm and most of my thigh in a matter of less than a day. I really want to put pics up. It was NUTS! But the first one, the doctor said it was so infected that if I waited another day I would have had to go to the hospital and God knows with no insurance, that's a nice kick in the a$$!
