| environmental concern? Posted: 10/4/2005 10:31:53 AM | | Dihydrogen Monoxide is an oderless, tasteless solvent that has been found in every, and I mean every, singe active reservoir worldwide, yet there has been absolutely no legislation to address this problem. It is a major component of acid rain. In large quantities it can cause excessive perspiration and urination and, if inhaled, can result in death. This chemical contributes to soil erosion, corrosion and oxidation of many metals, and has been found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumours and lesions. When is gaseous form, it can cause severe burns. It can even cause degeneration of sodium homeostasis. That is only a short list of the dangers of this potentially fatal chemical. Just to let you know, someone posts about dihydorgen monoxide every few months. | |

Apparently for good reason too.

| environmental concern? Posted: 10/4/2005 11:13:05 AM | | Really? Darn then this has already been done to death. I'm pretty new to the forums. Hate to beat a dead horse, since everyone's already probably savvy. Oh well, I guess a moderator can go ahead and delete it then. | |

Being as I've heard so much about it, you would think I would be able to spell it correctly. | |

| environmental concern? Posted: 10/8/2005 11:03:42 AM | H2O also known as water or hydrogen hydroxide is trerrible stuff. It is found almost everywhere on 'the Blue Planet'. It covers about 75% of the earth's surface and is about 75% of the weight of the human body. Yes too much of it can kill you but try doing without it for 10 days and see if you are still alive. Same is true of oxygen, try breathing pure oxygen for 30 days, I doubt if you will survive. Try doing without it for 10 minutes and I know you will not survive.
Peace,

Peace.

| environmental concern? Posted: 10/9/2005 11:41:10 PM | Even though it's a repeat, I don't think that the cat should have been let out of the bag - but now that it has:
A junior high student won a science fair for his project entitled "How Gullible Are We?" where he tried to get as many people as possible to ban Dihydrogen Hydroxide after listing the dangers involved with it. Also, the municipality of Aliso Viejo in California got as far as scheduling a vote to see whether it should be banned. • http://www.snopes.com/toxins/dhmo.htm

| environmental concern? Posted: 10/10/2005 7:59:04 AM | | That's scary! But that was my point in posting in the first place. People need to be made to realize the importance of education, and what constitutes real factual information. So many people so quickly jump onto this or that bandwagon due to some overarching principle and pay no attention to the real details. Environmentalism is a good example of this. While I agree with the general principle of caring for the environment, there is so much false information disseminated by groups like PETA, that it turns rational people against the whole environmental agenda. There are real issues in that regard that should be addressed, but they become obfuscated by all the nonsense. Having political concerns is great; being a sheep for people with a political agenda is counterproductive, simple minded and irritating. | |
