Hey I just read some of the thread which asks of women if it's a turn on if a man cooks...according to popular posters, it appears that it is somewhat of a turn on for some and at the front line in the bags of tricks from a man that to cook to impress ladies with.

My experience on the matter is that the men in the dating phase with me have used the "let me make you dinner" and have prepared and served what I have come to call their 'bachelor meal' ....for some it is the only thing they can cook...(besides breakfasts of course...but that is probably another thread altogether)

In any case, this is the thread here:
any truth left in "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" ???

So men...please post your opinion, experience and kitchen humor if you must!

Yeah, to a certain extent...
I'd propose to any woman who loves to cook Tandoori chicken (and other such Indian food...yuuuuummmmmy)....as well as miso rawman....pies....chocolate chip cookies....chocolate cake (thick icing)...roast beef...fish...pizza...

I think that 'certain extent' may be an extremely strong yes...at least with this guy.

Damn, I'm hungry now. Just ate dinner not even 10 minutes ago, and now hungry again?

i'm the kind of person who would find what their favorite meal is and take as much time as possible to prep the "perfect meal" for them. even if i have no idea how to make it. thats what the internet is for. So i think about the person not just well... she would love this cause its what i know how to make... because if she ever ends up living with you. she cant have that same crap over and over again

Tho i've had the oposite where my ex tried so hard to please me and set a nice candle dinner and everything... except she read the diretions wrong... and i beleive she read 3 cups instead of table spoons of water... or something like that too long ago to remember... she tried so hard to make a perfect dinner, and she ended up crying cause it was ruined :( i felt bad... so i helped her make something else for dinner.

Picture this:

Your girl likes everything you eat together. Then no more, she can't eat certain things that you absolutely love to eat. Then she begins complaining about how you don't like to eat things that sie likes to eat.

Something swell has just turned into something that your own applied effort cannot resolve. Your girl has gotten ill and maybe she'll get over this or maybe not, but it's caused an unexpected rift by limiting what you can enjoy at least for its short term. Maybe later you can learn to accommodate her needs, or maybe you can't bear this new unforseen limitation.

And can u handle this new decline, because it means that you must decline also? You must either cook separate meals or hold out those mystery ingredients and add them o nly to your portion. What we eat surely means a lot. I guess circumstance means a lot in this equation.

Well to me, that expresses this thread's sentiment better than what has appeared maybe too often as cliché.

Razz,
I have found that most men appreciate a good homecooked meal because they feel nurtured, even tho they won't often admit they need nurturing. The way to their heart? It might help, but I doubt it has a LOT of bearing on the relationship.

Make me a tray of lasagna, and ask me again after I finish eating...

Don't forget the apple pie for dessert.

most freaking definately... i have to say, that a woman who can cook, to me, is a jewel.. i love to eat... I MEAN SERIOUSLY LOVE TO EAT! most of my day is revolved around eating.. when you eat 6-8 meals a day, you gotta eat some good food...
I think it has to do alot with the upbringings of the individual..
I was raised in a house where every evening we sat down for a full dinner. My mother is the most amazing cook in the world TO ME.
now, that does make my standards a little high, but i love the effort put into it more so than the taste..
so, in answer to your question, YES. the way to MY heart could possbily be through my STOMACH.
I find it incredibly sexy when a woman can cook me a meal... I mean so attractive that i have been known to try to undress you while you are cooking!

but not everyone can cook so if the food sucks than thats the issue.
they are being nice, then they dash if they are just lying.

Hmmm...is it so much to ask a woman to have a half decent meal ready when a guy gets home from work? Unless of course they BOTH work. I mean...out there trying to support the family, sure...he can go home and eat some junk cause he's too darned tired to take the time and make something decent...but why should he?

Small example...the ex told me that her and the kids would eat at 5 PM....just when I got OFF work, rather than wait for me to get home...and I could get my own meals when I got home, OR eat left-overs. BUT...when her friend ( a guy) stayed with us for awhile....she couldn't wait to get up off her azz and start cooking porkchops and potatoes for him, even IF I was the guy who paid for them! Her dad couldn't believe this, so I invited him over one night after I got home from work...he saw for himself, and was totally shocked. I soon left town afterwards, and left her and her "friend" to their lives. The kids may not have understood very well why I left (neither were mine...I just helped raise them for a few years), but someday, they'll KNOW the truth.

So...all in all...yep...if you can cook, you can get a guy...and it don't take much more to be able to KEEP him either.

Yeah, as a matter of fact , if he has pissed me off that day, he gets the egg and frying pan thrown at him as a hint! Just kidding! It's a joke!

Men love to be cooked for. I have yet to find one who is worth the time and effort I put into it though.

But I think sex keeps him there more than food does. That's just my 2 cents.

You know the relationship is pretty much over for me if I don't cook your favorite meal anymore.

There's a current advertisement on television which describes the family sitting down for dinner often as a way to keeps kids off drugs an alcohol and a host of other good results that the simple act of sitting down together can promote.

So my kids brought the advertisement to my attention while sitting down at the dinner table. Mine at the age of six and eleven, recognized that we were unique in our community at sitting down for dinner together and took pride in that somehow. They don't know that it's one of my Mom tricks and I didn't need the ad to tell us that this act of dinnertime had tremendous value.

So, when I started this thread, I was hoping to see some support that the old saying still had some relevance or value to the opposite sex. I cook well and often for many reason's besides that a man at my table has never failed to return.

When working long hours I will take a weekend day and cook all day to have the basics of great dinner made ahead for the days ahead...I read somewhere once that pheremones for both men and women were raised when they were exposed to the smell of baking bread, apple pie and vegetable soup....(cinnamon sticks simmering will emulate apple pie ..another good trick to know!!)

Keep this thread going, I am curious as to how many women are not cooking and how that affects the opposite sex...and for those of us that do cook, has it affected your opinion on going forward with a woman at anytime?

my profile headline is : she looks as good as she cooks...it's a line that one of my best friends says to me (of course he calls home before he leaves work to see if and what his wife has cooked...)

PS : as for sex being what may keep a man...I think sex should be the easy part of a relationship...it's between the lines, a given and a necessity..and should be nothin but better over time!...and there are those recipes that are only appropriate for the bedroom anyway......ok let's not take this there.....

i WILL COME RIGHT OUT AND SAY IT. i oops

if a woman can cook for me and cook well, she is gonna get maga points in my book. MEGA!!!! I love to cook, and I certainly love a good meal. I totally appreciate it when she takes the time to make something. I dont care if it is pancakes and eggs, a good lamb curry, vegetarian stuff, Turkey Pot Pie, steaks on the grill or salmon in almond crust. If she made it, I love her for it!!!!!!

Bakers of bread, Brewers of beer, and someone who knows how to make a good pie crust get bonus points. and if she can cook fish and game, HOT DAYUM!!!!!!!!!!

my fondest memories of my marriage were coming in from a morning of duck hunting or a long day cutting wood, or a brutal day at the office, getting out of the car/truck and SMELLING that awesome meal wafting from the home, walking in and being NAILED with the wonderful smell and sitting down to pure bliss!!!!!!!!

I've cooked dinner for men... with men... and they always seem to really be into it.

I had one guy beg me to cook for him again! I've been told I'm a great cook... but.. LOL UMMM not sure if that captured and kept his heart! LOL

I made a special dessert for a boyfriend that was something his mom ALWAYS made special for him.. I made it when we were dating.. and he loved it.. I made it when we were thinking of getting back together.. I guess it was to let him know that I remembered he loved it and it was special to him.............He ate it.. but a really rude comment followed the next day.. HIS MOM is the ONLY one that should make that for him! NO one can make it like her! OMG WTF !!! IT fricken crushed me!

womens lib has totally taken the dignity out of a woman doing simple acts of service (which IS one of the 5 love languages)

I am all for dining in. one of my friends brought me the BEST sandwich and I was soooooooo grateful, I just had to let her take my clothes off
