| History buffs? Posted: 10/6/2005 5:28:09 PM | First and foremost, I'd like to experience a week in ancient Rome. Anywhere in the Empire really. Also wouldn't mind being around just after the Ch'in Dynasty united China just to see what it was like then. Victorian London has a certain allure to me as well. Not too keen on ancient Egypt exactly but I have to admit that I would have liked to have been there to see the upper and lower kingdoms united. Would have liked to see Jesus first hand. Yeah, I'm a Jew, but so was he. lol
Too many really. Still, only would want to visit, nothing permanent.

| History buffs? Posted: 10/6/2005 5:42:51 PM | This is a tough question!
1. Ancient Rome, for the obvious debauchery 2. Old England as a pauper-I was told by a medium that I was a barmaid in a previous life. lol 3. Medieval England as a Queen-who wouldn't want to live as a Queen, but minus the chastity belt please 4. 1940's America, I have often thought the world should be more like the 40's, how romantic 5. Civil War, either side, it has always fascinated me
OP, you never said what yours would be?
|
| History buffs? Posted: 10/6/2005 8:18:07 PM | | I'd have to agree with everyone else and say Ancient Rome. But I'd also like to visit: France in the 13th century to see them build their gothic cathedrals, Florence in the time of Dante, Florence during the Renaissance, and finally Youngstown in 1915. (because I would like to visit my house during the year it was built.) | |
|
| History buffs? Posted: 10/7/2005 4:47:04 AM | I'd use it to solve old mysteries, like 'who was Jack the Ripper?' and stuff like that, I could solve the mysteries and spend the rest of my life resting on my laurels. | |

| History buffs? Posted: 10/7/2005 2:23:47 PM | I'm pleasantly surprised so many have responded
1)Ancient Nubia(Badarian,Kemet,"group A"circa 5000BC)-I'd like to see for myself the civilization that perhaps gave birth to all others.
2)Solomon's court/Shebian expidition.-To have witnessed and interacted with the "wisest of the wise" as well as 1 of the most beautiful spiritual, intelligent women in history would have been wonderful.(Of course,I'd have wanted her for myself;>)
3)Olmec America-The 1st civlization in the Americas with so many links to Nubia and China seems AMAZING.I'd love to find out how did it get there, why did it disappear or was it simply absorbed.
4)Florida during the "2nd Seminole War" or even during the 1st beginning in 1810-Seminole is part of my heritage and I'd loved to have been apart of its fight for soverignity and continued independence. The 2nd Seminole War also cooresponds with the largest and most successful slave rebellion in US history...and most people don't even know of it.
5)Court of Akenaton-Was Akenaton linked in any way to Joseph the Hebrew? Would have been great to have interacted with the 1st recorded monotheist in Egyptian history. Now this was a close call since I'd also say an equal desire would have been apart of Menelik II's government as advisor. I could go on and on...but I think those would be my top 5.

| History buffs? Posted: 10/7/2005 8:27:44 PM | Hey, all:
Great question! As a biologist, and assuming both the fuel for the time machine was truely inexhaustible(!) and that MY age would be frozen, I would like to go back and witness the major extinctions and their causes that have occurred during earth's history. The most well known is the most recent at 65 million YA, but more castastrophic extinctions occurred at times before that.
I would also like to be able to watch the earth from a few thousand miles up, and watch the progression of the development of the land masses of the earth. Plate tectonics is an interesting subject, and to see it as it happens would be amazing.
I would also love to be able to watch the ORIGINAL discovery of the new world, which probably occurred twice and by 2 different Asian cultures which moved along the coasts of Asia and North America, then spread out when they reached the continental areas of No. America.
Cool idea! Actually, probably comes to more than 5, but, we're just dreamin'!

| History buffs? Posted: 10/8/2005 12:46:57 AM | 1. Witness the creation
2. The Garden of Eden
3. Ancient Egypt to witness the building of the pyramids, then the crossing of the Red(or Reed) Sea
4. Walk with and listen to Jesus first hand
5. Witness and hear Mozart creating some of the most beautiful music ever created
It would be such a shame to have to stop at only five. There are so many other times, places, and events that I would wish to see and learn from! This is certainly a fun thread, thanks for posting it!

| History buffs? Posted: 7/4/2007 4:15:18 AM | | I would like to go back to whenever it was we stopped communicating, and ask you why. I know you are a man of quality, morals and compassion, and have obviously decided not to put your profile on here, but only submit to the forums, which is a decision I respect, but I miss your friendship. As for the other time-travel experiences, I know I have lived many lifetimes, and would like to someday have a past life regression. | |
