Ok, I really hate to whine, but I just kinda have to today. I really don't feel very lonely most of the time, because I have my two wonderful boys and some awesome friends, but man. Sometimes I just dread going to bed at night, because I'm in there alone.....again. I have not had a steady boyfriend, one that I can have spend the night, in longer than I am going to admit on an open forum. Family Guy and MSNBC with all of it's kick butt sexy man anchors help as far as putting me to sleep, but how do you all deal with this at an ongoing level? Anyone care to share?

I do love men for lots of things including companionship, sex, conversation, adventure, motivation, support in tough times, to kick me in the rear end when I goof off too much, encouragement to help me grow and learn, sharing things, thoughts and feelings with etc. But I do not need him sleeping in my bed, crowding me, taking my covers, moving around, laying any heavy limbs on me, etc when I want to SLEEP. SLEEP is waaaaaaay better alone. I have a California King size bed, I get in it...in the middle...and have all the room I want in any direction. When it comes to SLEEP...that RULES. OF course, sex is different...but we aren't talking about sex, are we?

For me it has simply become a way of life, I haven't had a someone to cuddle up with at night in well...let's just say a while and it does suck, big time. But I have accepted it as my fate and just curl up with a pillow and wonder where I went wrong.

Do what I do. Sleep on the couch. My guy left 2 months ago and I can't bear sleeping in our bed so I sleep on the couch. Now I'm just praying that the day will come that he comes home so we can get back into our bed.

I actually prefer sleeping alone. I don't like being smothered while I try to sleep and I hate it when someone breathes in my face. I have a big "personal space" thing...and I don't want anyone there unless I invite them in. Once in a while, ok, but all the time...no.

I think it's lonier when you are with someone who is far away, and he can't sleep with you...And you want nothing more than for him to spoon you while you sleep.

I'm ok otherwise. But, I sure do miss that special someone when he can't be.

It helps to sleep on the couch...It feels like you're almost spooning someone.

Never spooned nor cuddled with so don't know what that feels like, but it is very lonely
going to bed alone. But when I dream, let's just say I don't want to wake up.

Coastergirl,

All my friends are in different states and most of the people near my age at my church
are in high school. They're too young to hang around.

I soooo understand what you are feeling. It's still fresh for me and I find going to bed at night 'the' hardest part. We never lived together but he was here alot and I see him on his side and know that he'll never be there again. I have a california king size bed so you can imagine how much room I have to move around in, ALONE.
There was always touching of some sort for us all the time and at night especially, you really miss that when you're used to it.

I wish you well and hope someone will soon be there to cuddle up to.

Hugs,

ECB

Sleeping alone is more my preference. to many distractions keep me from falling asleep as I am a light sleeper as it is. Spooning, cuddling and such where you end up having your partner laying on your arm and it falls asleep instead of you and then you have to figure out how to remove it without waking them up. Then there is the bed cover hogging issue someone can never have enough covers and there you are shivering half the night becuz they are laying on your portion of the blankets. Then there is the snoring....I never knew women could snore like men do....Now that is a major issue for me it drives me into homicidal fits. Now I know I'm not without my quirks I have been told that I mumble in my sleep but for some reason the women always get a kick out of it I guess I'm more entertaining when I'm asleep.( Thats not good is it?) when me and my ex broke up I did start sleeping on the couch which is considered normal becuz you have your back against something like when you were in bed...you had your back against somebody. Ok now I'm feeling meloncauly ...anyone wanna gimmie a hug?

It's gotten so lonely for me that I sleep on the couch. I was used to it, crap I've been alone for quite a while now, but lately, it's just too much..I'm on the couch.

Don't worry, for anyone that's single, take heart in the fact that there will always be someone who has been single for longer.

I just returned to a real bed after a two year hiatus...
First couple months...I slept in my VW bus...
Then I graduated to a sofa...
Then to a matress on a floor
I got my diploma last month and am now sleeping on a queen aspen log bed with a pillow top.
I love it...Even alone!
Go out and purchase some 800 thread count sheets and slip in to wonderland.
It will get easier...Hang tough!

I love sleeping by myself. Well not exactly by myself, my 3 cats all jump into my huge overstuffed pillow topped down filled quilt nest with me. We all have our sides and spots, but if I move in the night they all show up for hugs. LOL, I love sleep time.

Ok, it's been years for me now. Some night are worse than others. For years I took sleeping pills but gave that up. I always watch tv untill I'm falling asleep on it then go to bed. I cuddle a pillow and eventually fall asleep. We never get to like this. There will always be something missing, but we get used to it. You have to. I used to hate going to bed, feelling so sad each time. I still do especially on weekends but the again, when you have to you have to. I don't think I'll ever have a relationship again so I avoid thinking about it.
