Usernames and taglines - turn offs and turn onsPage 1 of 5    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
I look at usernames and taglines as a sort of "introduction". Sure, you can't judge a book by its cover, but I'll have to admit that I find some usernames and taglines more appealing than others. My question is this.. What sort of things do you see when you see the username and tagline, and what makes you look further?

Me, I'm naturally a curious person. Even if I don't particularly care for a username or tagline, I'll look at the rest of the profile just in case the person creating the account had a point to make that I might find interesting.

Most of the user names I wanted were already taken, so I made one up, and it took it. That simple. So I don't think much of peoples user names, because most times its not the first one they wanted. Just the way I look at it.

Mine was suppost to be Good & Plenty like the candy !
But it didn't come out that way, it's only a user name,
not like it's tatooed to my butt

I quit doing that , let see, 1,2,3,4,5, six times ago

ZoomZoom Zoom, my car, I couldnt think of anything else at the time. Take me home say hello- a good song by April Wine. Once I had a profile with header... I like your pants around your feet a Nickelback song you wouldve thought Id have got tons of responses but not really that many. Maybe too sluty!

I seriously doubt anyone pays attention to any of it. I can honestly say I've never clicked a profile just because of their name/tagline...

Hm... I think that people must feel somehow COMFORTABLE with their username and taglines and in some ways they r e f l e c t them. If correspondence progresses I tend to find out what sparked their username or tagline (inquisitive mind )

If I look at their profile - that depends on what they wrote on Forum or if there is more to their initial msg.

Agreed, with the possible exception of obviously dumb or obnoxious ones.

My own screen name, 'mu2freighter,' is just handy, I use it on several different forums, and I like being consistent. I don't have any qualms if anyone should happen to associate one with any of the others.

Besides, it's a thumbnail view of what I do, for anyone that gets to even a superficial level of knowing me; I fly freight around in MU-2 airplanes...go figure...

I've wondered once or twice (when I was REALLY bored ) if either of mine put people off. I've used Scream for 10 years online for every forum I've ever been a member of. It's a Munch reference. The 1969 is simply year of birth, which a lot of people tag on when their name is already taken.

The tagline is Yogi Bear of course. People who don't get the reference likely wouldn't get a lot of my references.

A really provocative username or tagline can say something about the person (good or bad), but most of them fall into the middle ground of having little to no bearing on how I'd view them.

My actual nickname is Brazen but it was already taken, so BrazenBabe was born. Not very witty but I couldn't think of anything else when I signed up.

OT: Are we able to change our usernames?

My username is relevant in several ways. I like big cats (leopards, tigers, pumas, etc) - think
they're very noble (and often misunderstood) creatures. Also, "King Tiger" (konigstiger in German) refers to a German tank of WW II, another topic of interest to me. Finally the letters KT are actually my initials.

I have to say I haven't seen it so much on this site, but on a few other sites, I get SOOOOO sick of seeing a guy say "I work hard, and play harder". Ugh! Gimme a break.
