So for all you over 30's and some of you over 40's.. do you go to meet and greets in your area when they are planned?

Do you find them to be a bit "young" for you? Do you ever meet anyone your own age???

Does your area have 35+ meet and greets and are they successful as well?

Just doing some market research ;-)

Just seems like they are for chronic partiers, personally not my cup of tea or coffee. Id much rather get together with people for coffee and conversation. Like Kim Mitchell said, "Might as well go for soda." Wouldnt mind seeing a casual coffee, meet and greet, likely be a lot less entertaining but the quality of people would possibly be a little better then the bar crowd. So "nay" to the current offerings.

I have attended a few Meet and Greets in my area and would have to say all were a success,....it is not always about the age group or the venue,...but from my experiences they always turn out to be best if you make an effort to mingle and put yourself out there socially,....

The ones that I have attended were wonderful as the ages varied and there was really people at every age group,...I do however wish that certain functions could be catered to certain age groups but it is unfortunate that the rules say this is not allowed...as it is considered discrimination. The best way to figure out if you might want to attend and to see the age range is to view the guest list and check out how old most of the people are that are attending,...this is what I do,...(Just don't tell anyone...LOL)

Actually, the weekly meet & greet in my area is usually filled with the 40-50+ crowd. LOL!

But I don't mind going to them. You never know who you might run into.
Besides, half the fun is just making new friends.

i haven't been to one, but would consider it if there was one close by. never hurts to get out and meet people vs. looking at pics online.

I haven't seen one of the ones from here because I'm sitting it out- but I know I stumbled into a reunion from another area (let's call it)... I recognized a few of them from their profile photos.

I have to say I have never seen a gathering of more dysfunctional people in my life. Guys had no tact, were all puffed out wearing their tacky wife beaters and bringing the watermelons home from market (walking like they had lats or something). All the mouthy people from the chat room were all mousy and sheltered. Women were just boorish and straight out of a B movie. Most grossly overweight / obese and ranked up with the sickest makeup jobs I've seen since the original Star Trek. It really turned me off of the whole thing.

With that being said, having talked to a few people who seem to like attending them, I guess if you're a part of the group as opposed to simply observing it with god-like impartiality... it can be fun. I suppose it depends on how seriously you treat the "friendships" you develop online.

There aren't any in my area (or even close really) but I think I'd attend if there were.

It's totally different meeting folks in real life- and if we're all in the same boat, so to speak, then that makes talking to one another all the easier.

I've yet to go to one. Missed the last one. Will try for the next. Be nice to meet a POF person IRL.

i don't really get the point.
i kind of assumed people joined a site like this because they are sick of meeting people at bars....not to plan parties to meet people at bars, haha. just doesn't make sense to me.

Well I've been to a couple of the local "singles" dances......... just not my cup of tea so to speak.
Might just be me but I just felt like I didn't fit in......... wasn't part of the "crowd" although shyness is not one of my problems...........
A sense of desperation was in some of them there........... just not for me.........

I haven't been to one - there aren't too many in my area, and the ones that are planned, always seem to be happening in a bar or dance club - not really my scene. I think I'm just more of the type to meet someone one on one, at a coffee shop or such.

There was one in Newcastle...I'm not much of a drinker so it wasn't anything I wanted to attend. I heard it was a good time, but that was from some friends who go to town every weekend and enjoy partying etc.

I think I've gone boring in my mid life....

I attend regularly since last fall a local meet n greet..in the summer we go patio hopping around the city. It has become my favourite night of the week! Overall, the age ranges are all over but generally it works out +30.

I look it as an opportunity to meet poeple online, I've made a bunch of new friendships for which I'm very grateful and while nothing came about for me, there have been some wonderful relationships develop out of the group.

We get new people each night mixed in with the regulars.

I used to organize some informal meet and greets.... I'd email men and women in my age group with a date and time. We had a lot of fun! I made a few friends out of it.

I say YEAH to the meet and greets. I've been to a variety of them so far. I've gone to a sports bar & grill to watch a football game, another I sang karaoke, and others have been with terrific dance venues, lol.

Most of the ones in my area are closer to Chicago, the age range is varied a lot. It's a great way to meet new people, both male and female and catch up with old friends that were met at previous meet and greets . I may have a drink or two, then switch to either pop or water, and plan on having a good time.

I go to them and so far I have only been to one that was way too young for me. You have to decide if its something you want to do. It doesnt hurt to try you never know what might happen.

I have been to some of the local POF events, and I enjoy them. We had one just last night at the Coffee House in Muskegon, and quite a few people were there. For those who lament that the events are always at a bar, and they detest the bar scene, this was a nice change of pace.

Besides giving me the opportunity check out a new local establishment, the events also provide a chance to make new friends, both male and female. And there isn't much pressure to be with someone since you don't arrive with them. If you hit it off, you could always continue talking after the event is over.

I've gone to a few meet and greets. I think I may be becoming a regular soon.

No, I haven't found them to be a bit "young" at all. In fact, at one party event, I met someone there who remarked how it seemed to be mostly older people at the event. Sometimes there are people may age, though I'm not sure how often should one be asking a woman her age as that isn't proper manners as I was brought up.

I think there may be a 35+ event planned in Southern Alberta but I don't think I'll go as I'm not much of a camping person.

They never have any in my area ...

I would if they would come to Shippensburg or even Harrisburg-- or Carlisle...

Never seems to be one around these parts...
