| What are your words of wisdom? Posted: 10/20/2005 11:18:55 PM | Most people have a quote or two they like to keep in the back of there head, things they can recall when life throws you a curve ball.......and hits you right in the temple. Those words that when put togther JUST that way put you back on track and gives you that little nudge in the right direction. Dosent matter where they come from, no one ever said wisdom ONLY comes from the wise.
a few of my favorite quotes are: "For a man to be truely imortal, he must first live a life worth remembering." BruceLee.
"there are things that we know, and there are things that we dont know. Everything else is exploration" Albert Einstien.
"Alls I ask of this world, is that, when my time comes that it be FOR something, and not OF something." Anamatrix
"A wise man once said,"Paitence is devine, But NEVER pay full price for a late pizza."" Michalangelo T.M.N.T.
"You should never feel anger towards the ones who cheat, steal or lie to you. You should feel pity towards them, for they are the ones who are lacking in Character, Integrety and Honor." Ed Jones.

| What are your words of wisdom? Posted: 10/20/2005 11:31:05 PM | I have a couple of weird ones. One is a poem I copied from a card I received years ago. I have no idea who wrote it, but I can still recite the first few lines:
There is distance between us these days, my friend. Distance and a little ache.
For some reason, these words resonate with me, and I think of them whenever I feel like a friendship is slipping, and I am concerned about another. It drives me to call them, and see what they are doing/up to.
My second is a much longer quote from a book (whose name I don't have). My counselor gave this to me the last day of counselling a while back; I had survived about seven major stressors, and she wanted to show me just how far I had come. Each chapter in the book is a word, where the author wrote something, personifying the word (emotion) into something concrete. She picked POWER for me. I photocopied it, and it's up on my wall now.
"Power made me a coat. For a long time I kept it in the back of my closet. I didn't like to wear it much, but I always took good care of it. When I first started wearing it again, it smelled like mothballs. As I wore it more, it started fitting better, and stopped smelling like mothballs.
I was afraid that if I wore the coat too much someone would want to take it or else I would accidentally leave it in the dojo dressing room. But it has my name on the label now, and it doesn't really fit anyone else. When people ask me where I found such a becoming garment, I tell them about the tailor. Power, who knows how to make coats that you grow into. First, you must find the courage to approach him and ask him to make your coat. Then, you must find the patience inside yourself to wear the coat until it fits."

Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. -- Albert Einstein
Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens
When bosses talk about improving productivity, they are never talking about themselves.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.
I got more where that came from.. tune in next week..............

"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.'' Winston Churchill
It is also better:
To remain silent, and be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

| What are your words of wisdom? Posted: 10/21/2005 1:13:47 PM | i've posted it before, but here it is, my mantra lol,
DESIDERATA
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
