| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 3:05:05 PM | I often wonder if people (Especially the Ladies) see video/computergames and Anime as a legitimate form of Entertainment? Also, do you add or subtract points to the person if he/she does enjoy it?
It's already known that the average age of a gamer is 30 and that games make more money than box office films.
So what are your opinions on the subject, ladies and gentlemen?

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 3:58:55 PM | | i had a 'friend' come over for a booty call. I neglected to turn off my XBOX, and when she showed up, all she wanted to do was play Grand Theft Auto lol. I did not get any booty that night, but it was still cool lol. So maybe it IS a turn off lol. But we still had fun. That's what really mattered. | |

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 4:20:54 PM | | Another thought; I have had many a fun date in an arcade. As for anime? It is Japanese animation in a certain style (normally huge eyes and short skirts with a lot of sci-fi futuristic stuff thrown in). And I know a lot of women who like it, but a lot more who don't. It always depends on the person. | |

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 4:44:34 PM | I've found there is usually two point five types of women in this regard
Type 1: Absolutely hates anime, video games, etc - immediate deal breaker if you bring it up at all ever
Type 2: Totally insane crazy for it Otaku Gamer nerd
Type 2.5: Tolerates it, and will maybe want to play with you but basically has no idea what is going on. Doesn't have a strong interest in it, but is neither a maker or a breaker.
*There is always exceptions, nobody is the same, bla bla bla...

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 4:52:58 PM | Thanks friend! If someone sees your treasure as trash they are not worth your time. When I was a boy Pong was about the only video game. I have a friend with one of those 30 plus year old machines in his adult playroom basement along with other more contemporary stuff. He has no problem with the ladies. | |

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 5:48:59 PM | I love anime....so any woman that can't except or at least tolerate my passion for it....well....tough cookies.
Video games are still cool with me...though I haven't been playing much of my PS2 lately...the thrill is dying I think.

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 5:51:46 PM | | I used to be a big time game player.. but I realized that being next to a warm body every night was much better then battling the forces of evil. Now I'm just a PoF forum junkee! | |

Major subtraction of points for anime. I dont agree with a lot of things those cartoons promote, including the excess violence against women and the sexual innuendo which is not always so hidden.
Not all anime is like this, but too much of it is.
Video and computer games? They can be cool. I'd love to be in an online game with a significant other. But sometimes gaming is just too much.

i guess that means i'm a 2.5 but its absolutely NOT something i consider attractive. I realize boys have their toys just like many of us women have our own vices that men don't understand (like shopping or crafts or makeup). however it needs to NOT be an obsession... one time a guy, after the first time we were "together" turned on some anime movie (which he also told me he was taping by the way) and proceeded to ignore me for 2 hours. i was d-o-n-e!

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 8:22:20 PM | would video games and anime be the same as dress ups and girly flicks?
a small minority of people may idolise the violence and hardcore sexual attitude towards women in anime, but these movies are not the only culprit. they will find another "thing" to make them feel empowered over someone.
playing games is not an inner child. all animals play games through life. they just don't do it on a system that makes certain people very very rich :)

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 8:41:31 PM | I don't get anime at all. I've tried and tried to see what is interesting about it, always come up waaaay short. I play PC games a lot. It never gets in the way of other things though. I'm 30. I play less now than I did when I was in my mid 20s. There's some girl gamers out there btw.
girls get irritated when their bf spends all their time with games, or ANYTHING for that matter. If it isn't games, it's tv, or drinking, or shooting pool, or working on the car.....

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/30/2005 11:55:29 PM | | I used to love video games, I think they've been losing their lustre though... but when I think about it, if a girl was obsessed with playing video games, not overly observant to her surroundings... I'd be turned off too. | |

| Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points? Posted: 10/31/2005 12:58:14 AM | | Hey, there's no question here as to whether they are great or not. I love certain First Person Shooters aswell as Flight Sims, but the point is: it's not very attractive to watch your mate tune you out while they are being consumed by a 19" screen. | |

| Anime : Pre-Pubescent Girls??? Posted: 10/31/2005 4:07:27 AM | Doesn't "anime" usually portray the girls as quite YOUNG, almost pre-pubescent??
(or at least early teens type thing..)
something DISTURBING about 25-30 year old plus guys doing that stuff, to me..
I don't know much about it, but that is the impression I got, please correct me if I'm wrong..
I think the Japanese sort of tend to have a fetish about that type of thing, teen girls in catholic school-girl uniforms, if you do some reading on it there are quite a few teen girls in Japan who "supplement" their allowance by meeting with older men...for..??

One thing you have to realize it that you cant really categorize anime into one group.
Anime is simply a story-telling medium. Just like any type of book medium, television show/movie/radio.
There are Animes for very small children, children, teens, young adults, and older adults.
Some have sex, some do not. Some are educational, some are not. It's as various as all the shows on television.
It's just that we import only a select amount of anime to our country to veiw on certain channels. (Cartoon network, G4/tech tv, action channel, etc.) So we get a very small percent of the majority of whats available overseas.
So, if anything, it's our country's fault for picking any particular series out of the masses to show to the people.
