| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/13/2004 7:51:33 AM | Okay on my way to work this morning I heard on the radio that the goverment is trying to change The Christmas Season to the Holiday Season so that they don't offend others... and that they've started taking the word Christmas out of Christmas Carols in public schools
How do you feel about that?
Personally it offends me that they even consider such a thing....I'm not at all the perfect Saint by no means nor do I pretend to be but the Purpose of Christmas the true meaning of it is to Celebrate the birth of Jesus!!! | |

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/13/2004 7:58:04 AM | Same problem here, there is a local government in England who has changed the name of christmas to - Winter meat festival. I'm sorry but i dont agree with changing it, and if you're going to change it then please come up with something better than that!
Difference is we are a christian country - our head of state is also head of our church. | |

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/13/2004 8:00:06 AM | Don't they have better things to do like run a country rather than worry about x-mas carols.."kids there no such thing as Santa Claus"
Can't wait to see what's next?
This country is already in pergatory...lol | |

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/13/2004 8:20:27 AM | I think it's a sad.
There are many many greater problems in our world (society) today then this.
Today our society is so busy running around like a chicken with it's head cut off tring to be POLITICALLY CORRECT.....It's now a mission of someones "guilt" to force others opinions down ones throat. The minority has a right to be heard...of course this is North America....~~~~BUT~~~
with the underlying threat tactics and constant shaming ...and foot stomping.... to do what's POLITICALLY CORRECT..... I'm SOOOO sick of it.
If a radio station plays something you don't like...you just switch the station...you don't rally together with other people who happen to hate that song... who have way too much time on their hands... who don't want to look at real world issues, and drive out to the radio station and SHUT it down!!!! or demand they CHANGE their programming....!!!
What ever happened to some acceptance.....if you don't want to say Merry Christmas.... then don't....it's that simple.
Enjoy your way of celebrating...... and I'll enjoy mine..... simple.
If the biggest problem in your life today is worring about someone wishing you a MERRY CHRISTMAS instead of HAPPY HOLIDAYS
I'd say you got it pretty d*mn good!
~~~~~~~~MERRY CHRISTMAS~~~~~~~~
Completley agree, i have jewish firends and muslim friends, catholic and protestant friends. i dont feel insulted if they wish me well on ther religious holidays, just as if my chinese friend wishes my happy new year on hers rather than mine i'm not insulted! and they are all the same when i wish them merry christmas. Plus i would not dream of going to a country that is predominantly muslim and complaining about ramadan and i doubt very much that they would change the name!!! I think political correctness and positive discrimination has completely got out of control, it's a way for governments to be seen to do something without addressing the real issues.
Anyway - I'll wish every one Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!! | |
They're just trying to homogenize the life out of everything. For Christ's sake, it's CHRISTMAS!! | |
The more "politically correct" people get, the more I want to hide in a cave somewhere.
If for some godforsaken reason this were to actually come to pass, just number me among the multitudes who will refuse to cooperate with any such edict. If that offends the Powers That Be, well, so be it...I'll be spending my CHRISTMAS DAY very willingly in jail, if that would be the consequences.
Sheesh....in my book, more often than not, "politically correct"=censorship. | |
Why is there a need to change Christmas season to holiday season? When both apply? Besides, Christmas is 2-syllabled. :)  | |
| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 10/21/2005 10:56:49 AM | | OMG, finally, I thread that addresses the same sentiments I have had for a long time now. It just pisses me off that we have now become so worried about being so "PC" that they have resorted to taking away or trying to change things we have embraced or celebrated for years and screwing them up. I was at work a few years ago and someone had drawn a CHRISTMAS tree on the grease board and made it to look all festive and wrote above it " Merry Christmas Everybody". Well, one of those 'gooders' told her she needed to erase the Christmas part of it because not everyone celebrated Christmas. I heard that and thought WTF? where do you, as an American no less, get off telling her that. She erased it and I asked her why she did it, she said cuz it might offend someone. Well I put it back and told her if someone has a problem with it the they need to come to me with it and I'll set them straight. No f'n way am I about to give up the holidays I've celebrated all my life nor am I about to let anyone tell me when or how I celebrate them. This is still, for now, a free country and as long as it remains so I am going to do my celebrating and holiday observing the way I grew up doing. I am also having a problem with the taking the pledge out of the schools. If a child doesn't want to participate for whatever reason fine, just don't tell me or my children they can't just because you don't like it or believe in it. Things are changing way too much and way too fast in this big panic of trying to become "PC". I have nothing at all against immigrants, hell this country was founded on immigrants, but don't come here and begin to tell me what I can and can't celebrate or where it will occur simply because your beliefs are different than mine. If you're offended well, home is always an option. | |
| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 10/21/2005 11:41:49 AM | Its Christmas !! What I love...is if you go to a different country, and try to change things like how things have been changed here (Canada) you might just end up in jail lol~!
I posted this on another thread... an e-mails thats been floating around for a few years...
Will we still be the Country of choice and still be Canada if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in Canada because it is the Country of Choice??????
Think about it!
All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?
I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.
It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?
We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all !
This is an editorial written by an Toronto newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!
IMMIGRANTS, NOT Canadians MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Canadians. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Canada Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of Canada being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Canadians....... we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH/FRENCH , not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "We Stand On Guard For Thee" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles............. founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because God is part of our culture.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping....... about our flag....... our pledge...... our national motto........or our way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great Canadian Freedom.......
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
It is Time for Canada to Speak up If you agree -- pass this along; if you don't agree -- delete it!
AMEN
I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please | |
| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 10/21/2005 11:44:02 AM | Loves....its still known as Christmas in the UK......can't see it changing.......there is no debate.......I have an Indian besssie mate and she has always bought and sent cards ,trees flowers and pressies just like everybody else.
I see Muslims and Sikhs and all sorts buying Crimbo pressies in England...no need to change it...........they certainly do NOT mind at all.
Whole of Britain is racing towards Christmas....presents,food and clothes...not to mention...trees.
Why would they mind??
Only thing we should do is remember what Christmas does mean......??
And find out that Jesus Christ was NOT born on DEc 25th
Might help the temper tantrums on this issue.
PS- Bells...love....where in the UK are you on about??? | |
| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 10/21/2005 11:44:30 AM | The fact remains that these politically correct people wish to please a minority of people in spite of the majority of people.
But I am not deterred in how I will celebrate the season. If someone wishes me a Happy Holiday, I'll return in kind and say MERRY CHRISTMAS! If they get offended, that is their problem, not mine. If someone wishes me Happy Kwanzaa, I'll return in kind and say Merry Christmas or perhaps, depending on my mood, Happy Kwanzaa back to 'em.
Toon, It wouldn't be "White season", no no. It would be "Colorless season", ha ha.
A great example:
THE TWELVE DAYS OF A POLITICALLY CORRECT CHRISTMAS
On the 12th day of the Eurocentrically imposed midwinter festival, my Significant Other in a consenting adult, monogamous relationship gave to me:
TWELVE males reclaiming their inner warrior through ritual drumming,
ELEVEN pipers piping (plus the 18-member pit orchestra made up of members in good standing of the Musicians Equity Union as called for in their union contract even though they will not be asked to play a note),
TEN melanin-deprived testosterone-poisoned scions of the patriarchal ruling class system leaping,
NINE persons engaged in rhythmic self-expression,
EIGHT economically disadvantaged female persons stealing milk-products from enslaved Bovine-Americans,
SEVEN endangered swans swimming on federally protected wetlands,
SIX enslaved Fowl-Americans producing stolen non-human animal products,
FIVE golden symbols of culturally sanctioned enforced domestic incarceration,
(NOTE: after members of the Animal Liberation Front threatened to throw red paint at my computer, the calling birds, French hens and partridge have been reintroduced to their native habitat. To avoid further Animal-American enslavement, the remaining gift package has been revised.)
FOUR hours of recorded whale songs
THREE deconstructionist poets
TWO Sierra Club calendars printed on recycled processed tree carcasses, and...
ONE Spotted Owl activist chained to an old-growth pear tree.
Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Good Kwanzaa--Oh, heck! Happy Solstice! (unless otherwise prohibited by law) * *Unless, of course, you are suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). If this be the case, please substitute this gratuitous call for celebration with a suggestion that you have a thoroughly adequate day. | |
Politically-Correct Christmas Holiday Parties
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees RE: Christmas Party DATE: December 1
I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23, starting at noon in the banquet room at Luigi's Open Pit Barbecue. No-host bar, but plenty of eggnog! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 P.M. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time, however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! A special announcement will be made by our CEO at that time!
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Patty
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees RE: Holiday Party DATE: December 2
In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we're calling it our "Holiday Party". The same policy applies to employees who are celebrating Kwanzaa at this time. There will be no Christmas tree present. No, Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment.
Happy now?
Happy Holidays to you and your family. Patty
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees RE: Holiday Party DATE: December 3
Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table ... you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA"; you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody? Forget about the gifts exchange, no gifts exchange are allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and executives believe $10.00 is very little for a gift.
NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED. Patty
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees RE: Holiday Party DATE: December 7
What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20 begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps Luigi's can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party-the days are so short this time of year-or else package everything for take home in little foil swans. Will that work?
Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Overeaters Anonymous to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men's table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, no cross dressing allowed though. We will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food we suggest for those people with high blood pressure problems to taste first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply "No Sugar" desserts. Sorry!
Did I miss anything? Patty
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees RE: Holiday Party DATE: December 8
So December 22 marks the Winter Solstice...what do you expect me to do, a tap-dance on your heads? Fire regulations at Luigi's prohibit the burning of sage by our "earth-based Goddess-worshipping" employees, but we'll try to accommodate your shamanic drumming circle during the band's breaks. Okay???
Patty
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees RE: Holiday Party DATE: December 9
People, people, nothing sinister was intended by having our CEO dress up like Santa Claus! Even if the anagram of "Santa" does happen to be "Satan" there is no evil connotation to our own "little man in a red suit." It's a tradition, folks, like sugar shock at Halloween or family feuds over the Thanksgiving turkey or broken hearts on Valentine's Day.
Could we lighten up? Please????????? Also the company has changed their mind in announcing the special announcement at the gathering. You will get a notification in the mail sent to your home.
Patty
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All #%&$**@ Employees RE: The %#*&^%@*%^Holiday Party DATE: December 10
I have no #%&*@*^ idea what the announcement is all about. What the %#&^!@ do I care... I KNOW WHAT I AM GOING TO GET!!!!!!!!!!!! You change your address now and you are dead!!!!!!!!!!!! No more changes of address will be allowed in my office. Try to come in and change your address, I will have you hung from the ceiling in the warehouse!!!!!!!!!!!
Vegetarians!?!?!? I've had it with you people!!! We're going to keep this party at Luigi's Open Pit Barbecue whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your #$%^&*! salad bar, including hydroponic tomatoes. But you know, they have feelings, too. Tomatoes scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right now! HA!
I hope you all have a rotten holiday! Drive drunk and die you hear me!!!!!!!!!!!
The ßitch from HËLL!!!!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM: Terri Bishop, Acting Human Resources Director DATE: December 14 RE: Patty Lewis and Holiday Party
I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Patty Lewis a speedy recovery from her stress-related illness and I'll continue to forward your cards to her at the sanitarium. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd off with full pay.
Happy Holidays! | |
| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 10/21/2005 4:35:45 PM | I think people make a mistake when they argue that christmass shouldn't be censored because it's christ's birthday or it's a holiday that many people enjoy.
Christmass should not be censored because doing that is agaist the first admendment protecting freedom of religion and prohibiting the government from establishing a religion. The promotion of secular activities over christmass is the same as establishing secularism as a religion.
That said, I think diversity is a good thing be it vegatereanism, celebrating the winter solace, islam, jewish celebration, etc..... AS long as it's inclusive. Unfortuneatly it seems to be all exclusive thes days with people wanting to exclude all kinds of traditional christmass traditions. Supposedly make way for diversity. | |
