| Sports that make no sense
Posted: 11/1/2005 7:22:47 AM | Ok, there's some sports in this world that seem to make no sense to me. I'm sure everybody has an opinion on this.....
These are some of mine:
1. Rugby. Why not just put on some pads and call it "football"?
2. NASCAR. Yeah, let's get into a couple dozen cars and zoom around in a circle at 200 mph for 2 or 3 hours (or 400 or 500 miles) and whoever survives....er, I mean, finishes first, wins!
3. Cricket....why would anybody play a sport named after an insect?
4. Laccrose....isin't this just soccer with sticks and a smaller ball?
5. Dirt Bike Racing....see the entry for NASCAR, only insert jumping for zooming around in a circle.

2.Shooting clay target's is a sport to some. I just think it's a waste of time. Who goes to work bragging about how many clay target's the took out .
3. monster truck's are about stupid to. They may look cool. What good is truck that can't haul anything . You can bet there freind's don't call them when it's time to move. It's also easy to crush a car that hasn't moved from someone's lawn since 1978. | |

Just too arbitrary for me. (I'm not saying these guys are poor athletes, I just dont' get how this is a sport) | |

Posted: 11/1/2005 3:31:32 PM | Is Nude Twister a sport? There seems to be a lot of contact and you have to be fairly agile
to get into some of those positions. Strength is also involved since you have to hold it up for a long time in certain circumstances. There is also the occasional reaching for beverages and drinking without spilling it over everyone else. I guess since nobody pays to watch it it may not be a sport. Forget what I said. | |

It takes 3 hours to play a 60min game
Basketball
Faster but it takes about 2+ hours to play 60min game
The last 2 mins of Football and basketball take as long as the entire 1st qtr.
Baseball
It takes 3-4 hours to play 9 innings of only 3 outs each.
Soccer
It takes 90mins to play a 90min game with a 15min halftime.
Occasionally they will add 1-3mins for "injury" time.
Only game with 100% action, 100% of the time. | |

If you're using the NBA as a measuring stick of basketball, then it's only a 48 minute game, not 60. There are four quarters each of 12 minutes. | |

First off, soccer (or football) is boring. That is why most people that leave soccer playing countries immediately become interested in other sports and loose all interest in soccer.
It is very low skill; that's why it is so popular with young children.
At the professional level it is just a bunch of grown men in short pants,faking injuries and after a 90+ minute game a usual score of 1-0 or 2-1. | |

OT, there are a few sports that should be outlawed altogether.
1. Polo of any kind.
2. Golf.
3. Tennis.
4. Basketball.
5. Volleyball.

So, is that why there are so many fans of Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Japan, Korea, China, Argentina (the list could go on and on) who support their teams (club soccer) when they live in the US and Canada? | |
