Around my area (Alton, St.Louis, Carrolton) there are some good places along the Mississippi. I really like going to The Loading Dock in Grafton. Google it, there's a website telling all about it.

There are so many places around here along the river that your date could consist of cruising, seeing the sights and settling for one of many great places to grab a bite.

I also really like Los Tres Amigos in Jerseyville. YUM.

i know.. i actually think if you really want to impress your girl on a first date. take her downtown chicago for a horse and buggy ride in the winter.. its soo pretty in the winter time with all the lights and people.. plus she will get to hold on to you to warm up... and the best part is... IT IS NOT EXPENSIVE!!!!

I went to RAIN in St. Charles, Il. New restaurant. elegant, upscale Bar has rock wall with rain falling. Outstanding food & atmosphere. Live music every night. Try the woodsmoke bacon wrapped figs- yummmmm.

Key Wester in Naperville is the very best in the area in my opinion. How can you beat having palm trees in front, swans in the pond outside their large windows and a huge waterfall indoors. Plus the food is incredibly good. Fish that doesn't taste fishy, vegetables that are actually tasty and the food is brought out quickly. No rush to leave afterward and a dessert try after the meal.

Well, it all depends on where you live and what you are looking for. In Pekin, where I live now, there isn't really much of a good selection of good romantic restaraunts. However, in Decatur, my home-town, Pastabilities in downtown Decatur is a great Italian place that is cozy, and very roman. It is well decorated, has great food, and is reasonably priced.

okay I'm a little biased since I own a night club here, but if you live in the Central Illinois area, please consider a trip to Mason City, IL. Located halfway between Peoria and Springfield, we are a small community that has some momentum going as far as renovated buildings and nightlife. My club is called Mason City Limits and we feature stand up comedy most weekends with some live music thrown in on occassion. We also have an open Jam on Thursdays with some of our talented local musicians, no cover. Our website is www.mclimits.com

Next door we have a couple great restaurants in Jack and Jo's Steakhouse and PJ's Pizza and Pasta. The Arlee theater is just around the corner and features first run G and PG movies. So here's an idea, if you have kids that arent too young. Meet your date at one of the restaurants, after dinner, walk the kids around the corner to see a 7 pm movie, then catch the early show at Mason City Limits (starts at 7:15). The movie and the comedy show lets out about the same time, and it's a small, safe community.

Hope to see you down here.

if someone offered to take me on a horse and buggy ride in Chicago in December, I'd jump at it, as long as we could warm up somewhere afterwards. =)

I'm with you sister. It sounds romantic and fun. I think it can also be done in St. Louis, which is not far from my area.

In Huntley I'd suggest the Walleye Grille in SunCity. Sounds strange being in the but food is great and view of golf course and clubhouse isn't too shabby.

Everybody ought to go to Ladd, Ill. for a date! People come from Chicago, Oh, Mi. Ia. to eat Rip's Tavern Chicken. It's a MUST GO TO THIS SUMMER!

Take I-80 to the 70 mile marker. Exit to the north and this will put you on Main Street in Ladd. You will pass Torey's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor on the right. 50's interior and old fashioned soda fountain. About another block you will see Soft Tails bar, people are SO friendly there. Great bartenders! The following block on the corner to the right is Rip's. Lanuti's is caddy corner from Rip's. They have Italian-American food and frog legs and turtle.

Rip's will have a line outside and it's SO much fun mingling with the people to see where they came from! SO MUCH FUN! The waitstaff comes down the line and takes your orders. When you get seated you're served a plate of crumblies. The breading from the chicken. It is HEAVEN!!!! Everything is served on Chinette cardboard plates and no utensils as everything is finger food. Prices are cheap. A piece of Italian bread is on bottom and you get 1/4 white or dark meat. I believe a plate of white was $3.50 & $3.25 dark. You also get french fries. Ask for dill slices. The dill pickles are GREAT! I think 1/2 chicken was $6. 50 or $6.75. you won't be sorry!
You can go to neighboring Princeton and see the Red Covered Bridge and shop downtown Princeton. They have a china shop, "Patterns Of The Past". Quaint town.

Hi, I'm from Champaign, IL
We have a huge assortment of restaurants on north prospect North Champaign, Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, Red Lobster, Lone Star, Outback, Cheddars, Fazoli's, Wendy's, Burger King, Steak n Shake, Hometown Buffet, Penn Station, Boston something (pizzaria-heard it wasn't to good). McDonalds, Bob Evans, Panera, Olive Garden, Taco Bell, Chili's not to far from North Prospect over by Market Place Mall.
West Champaign----Texas Road House (awesome steaks), Monical's pizza, Pizza Hut, Taffy's, Sammy's, Taco Bell, KFC, Arby's, Za's Italian, El Torerro (awesome mexican food), der Weinerschnitzel, Village Inn (pizza and sandwiches), Orginal Pancake House, Little Porgies, Burger King, McDonalds, Garcias Pizza
On campus----no way I can name them all, but here are a few off the top of my head:
Papa Del's pizza (chicago style - awesome), Chipolte, Noodles, Potbellys, Garcias Pizza, Pizza Hut, White Horse Inn, Legends (famous for their fish sandwiches on Friday), IHOP, Zorba's, and many more.
Downtown Champaign---Radio Maria's, Jim Gould, MaryAnn's, Guido's, 7 Saints, The Great Impasta (would be nice for a romantic dinner). No horse and buggy rides that I know of in Downtown Champaign...yet!!! We have been called "little Chicago" several times, so it probably won't be long LOL
