| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 11/19/2005 6:14:26 PM | In Portland, maine I highly recommend the Village cafe. you can getr anythong from Pizza to Lobster there - and everything inbetween. Prices are good, food is excellent, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very good for converation - no loud bands or other noises.
Someone care to meet me there some evening..?

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 12/3/2005 5:21:28 PM | I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly -- it's my first post in a forum on this site.
Around here, locally is a relative term! Evo's or the Chocolate Grille will pretty much guarantee you some good food and it's quiet -- nice for conversation. They belong to the same family of restaurants and are dotted around the state (at least the central portion -- I don't know about northern or southern Maine.)

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 7/18/2006 1:49:53 PM | Since I live at the front door of Acadia national Park, I cant think of a better place for a first date than to head into the park exploring...find a nice flat rock in the sun and listen to the waves while getting to know each other...perhaps a picnic lunch!
In the evening, helping each other make a mess eating lobstah at some dockside restauraunt should keep you laughing......
As for great places to eat locally....I have never found a bad one in these parts...if they are in business for more than one year, chances are pretty good it will be a great meal.

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 3/26/2007 5:43:47 PM | I think a nice place to take a date in Belfast area would have to be determined by what kind of food that you are interested in, the Weathervane down on the boat landing is very nice specially in the summer (can eat outside) but they are mainly seafood, the Oriental Plaza on the east side of the bridge is nice if you are into chinese, and then there is Dos Amigos (when they reopen for the season) which is mexican, fi you head towards camden on rte 1. | |

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 5/21/2007 9:02:08 PM | since my girlfriends and I all have a thing for Chinese, we've tried a whole slew of'em! They are all pretty good. China Jade in Waldobor0, there's one in Brunswick (can't remember the name) on the main drag, not far from Cook's Corner, that one has the BEST buffet- I can take friends who are vegans, friends who love Chinese, friends who hate Chinese, and absolutely everyone can find something they like. The one in Unity is good, but they water down the sauces tremendously!! (makes them anemic.)
Le Garage is good.
Robinson's in Georgetown.
Moose Crossing in Waldoboro.

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 6/30/2007 8:16:12 PM | Maine Mike is right on with recommending the Village Cafe. Several years ago I was their hostess when the Saturday evening lines had people practically standing in the parking lot. A lot has changed but the meals, price and atmosphere continues to be topnotch! I hear they will be closing their doors however...not sure when or perhaps it's just rumor. They've been there forever in a little section of Portland that was once known as "Little Italy".
There is plenty of space there for a Maine get-together actually! Food For Thought!
A place for breakfast if your date went remarkably well or you've been dating for a time would be The Bayou Kitchen...the corn beef hash is homemade and fried on the grill...omelets are extraordinary and if you're in to, exotic? Crawfish is on the menu! That is located on Woodfords Corner/Deering Avenue, Portland..across from Dunkin Donuts and Big Sky Bread(a place to check out for coffee roasters and a fruit breakfast bread!).
In Old Town, Maine, Pat's Pizza for a beer and good old fashioned time listening to a jukebox!
Thai food? There's a place I just discovered that was very pleasing called Mekhong Thai, located at 865 Forest Avenue(outer Forest Ave), Portland.
And of course most any restaurant with the word Diner attached to it is usually fool proof! There's the Maine Diner in Wells that is well known throughout the states!

And folks, she is right, it does have one of the best buffets' around the area. It's pretty close to Bowdoin College. If you get a chance, check it out.
