| Classical music Posted: 11/2/2005 10:07:58 PM | I love all types of music but I absolutely adore classical. To me it isnt just about the technical perfection, but also the emotion that is conveyed without the use of a single word.I love Mozart,Beethoven,Bach,Saint Saens,Copeland,Dvorak,Haydn,Handel, and a myriad of others...Anyone else love classical? | |

| Does anyone else appreciate Classical music?:) Posted: 11/3/2005 5:33:26 PM | | I'm with Otto on this. I love classical music, but now what? This is just going to be a long list of people saying they like classical music. Maybe someone should make a statement comparing contrasting different movements in the history of classical- baroque, classical (in the true sense of the term) romantic, impressionist, neo classical, atonal, micropolyphonic, minimalist... or perhaps discuss music theory. Does the O.P. have a favorite historical period, or do you like it all equally? | |

There was an interesting experiment conducted in Europe (I think Switzerland or Scotland). Classical music was played to a number of cows. This amazingly resulted in higher milk production IMO, classical music must accompany us in our daily routines when we're working on some projects, but not too loud because MUSIC distracts, you know...

Listen to bands who have been categorized in the 'post-rock' section. The majority of those are fantastic bands and you can hear classical influences often.

| Does anyone else appreciate Classical music?:) Posted: 11/4/2005 2:00:11 PM | | I like minimalist composers such as John Adams, experimental music done by Kronos, or percussive music by Kodo. Turtle Island String Quartet is mostly jazz, but they have a fantastic sound all their own. My all time favoriet is Sibelius Concerto In D Minor for Violin. When it's over I feel like I should have a cigarette--and I don't even smoke! | |

The only one I'm familiar with is Vicaldi's 4 Seasons. My friends tell me to listen to the more contemporary Kronos Quartet.

Thanks Mom and Dad for being so patient with me and allowing me to experience it all.
Started out on piano quite early, added violin for several years, then moved on to the french horn (and coronet ... they wouldn't let us take the horns out on the marching band field), played fluegel horn in Germany for a while in a special brass choir, I own an autoharp that I get out and play from time to time... use that mostly when I'm singing folk songs ... Joan Baez and Anne Murray are favorites, have an electronic keyboard that I use when I'm working on some sheet music preparing for a singing performance. Taught myself to play my younger sister's flute and my older sister's cello.
Phantom of the Opera is one of my all time favorites ... I have fond memories of playing different music from it as I moved through the various instruments in my life, and I also sing some of the songs as well.

Yes ... as I said, "I have my favorites"... did you want me to name them or do you want to know HOW I appreciate classical music.
I appreciate it while playing it, while singing it, while listening to it ... when as a high school student I ushered for the Columbus Symphony Concerts just so I could get in free, when I played classical music in the Ohio State University Orchestra, when I sang classical music in the Columbus Symphony Chorus.
Man darf wohl annehmen dass Sie haben auch mitgemacht ... schade.
