| How safe is it to really pierce your eyerbrow or anything else on your body? Posted: 11/7/2005 1:18:37 PM | Hi! I was just wondering how safe it is to peirce the eyerbrow or just beside it. cause I ve seen people with eyebrow peircing, now I am not saying if somoene jumped off a cliff and if I would...No I've been thinking about this for some time now, just the same with the tattoo thinking on and off if I really want one and how bad I really want it and wheres the best place to go thats very sterile and clean. Maybe I am thinking I am not doing enough research. Theres a few peircing and tattoo places here in Kingston and trying to think of the best ones to go to. But I am deciding like if I could get away with a eyebrow peircing or if it will look stupid on me cause I would think some people can get away with it.
What do you think people?

I personally don't have any piercing, but my daughter has an eyebrow ring. It's really important to take very good care of it to prevent infections. As far as other body parts...I don't know ...lol
I waited until this october to get my first (and I think, last) tattoo. I wanted something unique as well as something that had a special meaning for me. I had been thinking about a tattoo for years. When my kids were 11 yrs old, (they're 21 now) they had made up a secret written code that only they knew. My daughter wrote down our names in this code and I had the tattoo artist for it into a circle, which I now have on the small of my back. I'm glad I waited as long as I did. It was worth it to get what I really wanted. : )

| How safe is it to really pierce your eyerbrow or anything else on your body? Posted: 11/7/2005 1:40:36 PM | I've had three body piercings.
First was my navel, then my labret (under the lip) and my nipple.
The biggest thing besides knowing the piercer is good, clean, and has expierence, is definetly the aftercare. I messed up my belly button real good and it got super infected and it was really, really disgusting. But, alas, I know it was my own fault. I was careless and didn't continue cleaning it as I was supposed to.
I learned my lesson from that expierence and did everything I was supposed to for my other two piercings and they turned out just fine.
Funny, because the only piercing I have left is my navel. But I really want to get my nipple done again, that one fell out and I didn't notice till it was closed up. Sad sad story that one is.

Posted: 11/7/2005 1:45:28 PM | I thought about nose too but I also thought about the navel but don;t you always have to wear low cut pants and under garments so it doesn;t catch, if you have your nipple pierced how can you wear a bra? Or do you? hahaha all these questions I wonder. I think some body art is cool.. hehehe I know I will freak my parents out cause they think that stuff is only for teeny boppers and doesn;t look good on older people but thats my moms opinion but mine or others, but in my humble opinion I think she;s just old fashioned... which is ok for her.

Ok, yes, I wear bras and I always have worn bras. The idea is when you initially get the nipple pierced to constantly wear CLEAN bras, preventing infection. I had a ring in and it never caulght on anything.
As for my navel, I have gotten it caulght on things before. My sister for one got hers caulght on a door when it was closing somehow and almost ripped it out (i'm sure everyones heard a million of their own peircing ripping out stories)
But, no, alas, I wear whatever pants I want.

"Chat" is one thing. Needing a private room is another. Take it to private messages before I need to take out the garden hose (read: suspension whip )
There is a big difference between getting some slack on the no-chat rule in a local forum, and hijacking a thread.

Posted: 11/7/2005 2:51:03 PM | I had my nose pierced about 4 years ago now, it was my 'screw being 40' rebellious act... lol. I haven't had any problems with it, just followed what he said to do. It was done with a needle, not a gun, and i had researched and had referrals to this guy beforehand.
Good luck! | |

| How safe is it to really pierce your eyerbrow or anything else on your body? Posted: 11/7/2005 2:58:36 PM | I just got my nose pierced this Saturday.. and i have tattoos and my cartiledge(sp) (upper ear) pierced.. my suggestions is that you go check out a few of the places that are in your area..
for instance I checked out a few places for my piercing.. 1st place was inexpensive.. however they where open till the crack of dawn and something about that didn't quite feel right.. 2nd place was also inexpensive but the floor was filthy and people where just hanging around the area where tattoos and piercing are done.. the 3rd place didn't do the nasal screw only a ring.. and finally the place i had it done was clean, sterile like walking in to a docs office.. they have been in business for 19 years and the piercing room was in a different area.. there were no people just hanging out there very clean so I went with them.. it cost me $50 as opposed to $27 at some of the other places but I rather pay the extra to ensure i'm getting a job done well and i'm not going to get infected with something or get an infection..
so just keep in mind if you go into a place and feel uncomfortable go with your instincts and find another place.. and enjoy the piercing.. they hurt like a mother.. but its so quick.. you forget it fairly fast.. lol..
have fun. | |

| How safe is it to really pierce your eyerbrow or anything else on your body? Posted: 11/7/2005 3:04:34 PM | Soultrykitten,
I've always been a fan of piercings, and sport somewhere around 20 on me in various places.
Best place to get it done is at a tattoo/body piercing parlour. Like everyone else said, make sure that the guy has a lot of years behind his belt, you've seen pics of his work, and he's friendly and approachable. Some piercers have strict ideas on where a piercing should go.. you need to work with him/her to make sure you get it where you want.
After care is always key, never use rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on it. Just clean with Spectro Gel 3-4 times the frist few days, and then whenever it needs it after that.
Now if you wanna get your eyebrow done, I say get your right one pierced with a barbell. The left side would look a little strange on you I think. Or if you're not ready for that, get a small stud in your nose.
Hope this helps! | |

Posted: 11/7/2005 3:07:40 PM | | good advice partially....my experience though with tattoos...have had 10 artists break my skin....over a 28 year time span....and i know spectra...but my latest, greatest artist tells me he owns it til it heals...and the piercer will or should provide his/her own personal guidelines and treatment for aftercare......

I guess I heard horror stories like if you peirce your eyebrow you can go blind.. is that not sound rather ridiculious? I am glad I started this thread cause I like to get opinions or answers for what I was concerned about.
thanx again. | |

the only way you can go blind by piercing the eye brow is if they slip and accidently pierce your eye with the needle..
I think thats one of those rumors like you will grow hair on the palms of your hands if you constantly er.. well you know.. LOLOL..
:) make sure to update us when you get your piercing done..

| How safe is it to really pierce your eyerbrow or anything else on your body? Posted: 11/7/2005 7:55:02 PM | I always wanted to get my Tongue done... actually almost got it done for years.
Until Today! I have seen everything that could go wrong... including Yeast Infections in the mouth!! And they are more common than you think! My Prof who is a Medic and a RN went through a point in his Careers that he would see atleast 1 piercing related infection/injury a day.
I love piercings and think some people look AWESOME in them. But just be VERY quiet.
Most recent story we heard..... 5 people were driving from Ottawa to attend the Queens Homecoming. The driver lost control and hit a rock cut. The girl sitting in the back in the middle had her seat belt on but not completely tight because of her belly ring. Because of the force the seat belt ended up "clothes lining" her (im sure you all know what that means) and fractured her pelvis. (VERY VERY bad because of the amount of blood loss) My teacher knew exactly what happened and they had her airlifted to KGH where she later died due to the blood loss. She was completely conscious when they were on scene.
I know it specifically has nothing to do with piercings but for those of you that have belly rings or any other piercings that can affect safty stuff... keep that in the back of your mind.
It's not one of those things that you would think of, if you're wearing a seatbelt you think you're safe. But wearing it wrong can sometimes be more deadly. I was totally shocked when I heard the story!
Sorry to bring down the mood guys... I just feel I should get that out!

Posted: 11/7/2005 8:14:15 PM | I have worked in dental surgery for 14 years....I cannot tell you the number of times we've had to lop off sections of screwed up tongues and had to do very expensive surgery to fix damaged gums from lip studs even to the point of young people needing to wear a denture because they actually lost the 2 front lower teeth but are too young for very expensive dental implants to replace them.
I know lots of people have success with tongue and lip wear...but just my 2 cents.
