I really prefer a good sharp Jarlesberg with a Merlot. Brie is always an excellent choice for a light whine. But I'm beginning to simply prefer the cheese foregoing the Whine entirely. It's so difficult to distinguish one Whine from another. There's the Where-Have-All-the-Good Women/Men-Gone Whine. There's the Women Hate Men/Men Hate Women Whine. There's the all time favorite He/She's Married-Validate-My-Involvment Whine. And then there's the unforgettable Everyone-Lies Whine.

My tastes are more refined now.... I can not accpet any wine of the following: corkiness oxidation sulfur hydrogen sulfide or cloudiness I also now tend to go with the wines that have a long shelf life.... semillon reisling chenin blanc from the loire botrytized sweet wines Grand cru white burgandy The regions i like best are wines from france: bandol Pessac- leognan chateauneuf-du-pape toraine madiran also from spain: pennedes rias baixas and italy: veneto tuscany cheese would depend on the specific wine.

You can get a really bad whine quite cheap (MD20/20 anyone?). I'm extremely picky about who I share my favorite cheeses with however. I have noticed there is an over abundance of 'Why Me Lord?' currently out on the market though. Would probably be able to pick it up fairly cheap.
