| Has anyone made a point of dating tall women?

"Ohhh, you should get yourself a taller girl."
The implication, I think, is that taller women are less sought after and so my odds of finding a good lady are better in that category. I was wondering if any taller men had tried this, and what a women's response would be to that criteria being openly applied? | |

Posted: 11/12/2005 11:17:35 PM | I'm about 5'10'' and maybe some change. I've found that women don't want guys to be shorter than they are, for the most part. I've only met a few women taller than me and all of them want a guy taller than they are. Not just taller, but substantially taller because they say they like to wear heels and don't like being taller than their guy.
As for the leggy ones, you can be shorter and still be leggy. My ex is 5'8" and I swear 4 feet of her height is legs.
I prefer short women. Dunno why, but I seem to be more attracted to short women. So I can understand the idea of the guy being the taller one. | |

I am just curious why you look for them if you think they feel unattractive? Is it so you can try to convince them of the opposite? Feeling taller feels worse than just feeling tall. I did once nearly drown in the shower with a tall woman, but it wasn't becaue she was taller than me. I'm a pretty tall chick and I'd have to say that generally I don't go out with shorter guys. I'm not saying that I won't date a shorter guy, but I'd most likely have to know him first and really like his personality.
It's pretty shallow I know, but if a guy is shorter than me it just makes me feel like some goliath. Weird head-trip I know. | |

I think we all buy into the whole "men should be bigger than women" thing. So which came first...men who like smaller women or women who don't feel comfortable dating shorter men?
I wonder if any of us would care so much about height if we weren't preprogrammed with the image of what couples "should" look like? | |

Posted: 11/13/2005 10:52:07 PM | For one thing, the point of an exercise like prioritizing height would not be to go after women with low self esteem, but rather those who would find my height to be an attractive quality and would feel more attractive with me because of it. I'm not winning any beauty pagents here, and attraction IS important at first. So it has value only as far as getting a date and making her happy to begin with is concerned. If happiness for many is a taller guy, maybe it's worth a considering.
PS. Never nuzzled a girls chest while vertical. Glad to know its a turnoff beforehand :) And I love heels (on her), so that is a plus for us both. | |
