| The Petty Tyrant Posted: 11/17/2005 9:56:38 AM | | I'm sure at least some of you have read the writings of Carlos Castaneda. In his book "The Fire from Within" he has a chapter in it called "the Petty Tyrant." In it he speaks about how to succesfully deal with the people that drive us crazy in our lives--"Petty Tyrants" He goes on to describe how the "Sorcerers" of ancient Mexico would deal with such people. Always looking to further their knowledge and spiritual growth, they would use such people as a means of eradicating "self-importance" or ego, altenatively responding from spirit. They would learn how to laugh at themselves and would actually see the "Petty Tyrant" as a blessing and the worse a "Pettty Tyrant" was the more potential for growth they had. Now, having seen how people respond to and treat each other at times at POF this might be a helpful philosophy. My question is, who is the petty tyrant in your life and would having such an attitude be beneficial? | |
