I finished the break system on the buggy, new brake shoes, new master cylinders, wheel cylinders, new break lines etc.
now I got to make throttle, and clutch cable lines from the pedals to the transmission and engine, I'm using metal gas lines to run the cables back.
I'm basicly building a car from scratch, I need to do all the electrical and guages, battery box, turn signals headlights, etc.
fun. | |

| Working on cars. Posted: 12/6/2005 4:22:47 PM | I have a 1972 Datsun 510 station wagon that I bought for $200 18 years ago and it gets run daily. I've probably put $1000 into it over the years. It has about 358,000 miles on it and it still catches a healthy 2nd gear patch and does over 100mph. Easily the most reliable machine of any sort I have ever owned, other than my boat. Goes to show what they can do when they put quality before profit. For those too young to know... Datsun is what became Nissan in the US. Good start, Mel!! Keep it up!! | |

| Working on cars. Posted: 12/7/2005 6:18:25 AM | | I have my baby.. A 79 Chevy Z28 Camaro.. I bought it 5yrs ago from a guy in Orlando for $500. The story behind it is, He was driving I-4 at 130mph and it died on him. So instead of fixing it, he sat it on the side of his house and 2yrs later, I bought it. Not in bad shape at all. No rust and the undercarrage has been undercoated. But I couldn't get compression out of all eight cylinders, so I replaced the engine, other than trying to rebuild the old one. I started out with a 267cid that I got from a friend with a 81 and seven months ago I bought a 350 crate engine for it. What a difference. I had the car painted 4yrs ago, black W/gold and Dark gold Z28 stripes.. The car is pretty much all original. Except some miner things.. Even the clock still works.. Like I said, I've had it for 5yrs now and I've grown very attatched to it.. Since I bought it. I've put almost $6000. into it. I always wanted a Trans Am, but it's about the same.. And I drive it everyday, and I always get asked about it when I'm getting gas or at a red light. And I took it over to Daytona this year for the Turkey Rod Run, and had a great time.. I do have a pic of it on my profile.. | |

Main problem is geting the factory computer harness to make the fuel injection and the sensors work properly. But a used engine can be found for around 1k. Lot cheaper then porshe parts too. Right now "baby steps" with the 50 horse power stock vw engine. | |

(600 HP 406 small block - solid roller) Should be in the 9's with a 150 shot of nitrous. Engine is out to be freshened up right now. Hopefully I'll get it back soon! I do all my own work on the Vette.. However, I don't work on the Ferrari myself..
Here's a little video of me going down the 1/4 mile..
