Posted: 11/30/2005 1:27:46 PM | | I was wondering what everyone thinks about FAKE PROFILES. I'm am fed up of seeing new profiles of beautiful women who need a confidence boost. They have no info what so ever on their profile. I don't think they have any intention of finding someone, what the hell is point for creating a profile, if you want people to tell you your beautiful and want to F$%^ you, then become a stripper or prostitute. From what I understand this site is for people that are looking for a relationship/ friendship/ intimate encounter.....whatever. These people never write back, respond to emails etc.......I had enough...not just this site....Myspace/Hi5 every other chat room in the world. Do they make any money from doing this? I feel like writing them hate mail everyday of their life until they finally delete their account.!!!!!! | |

If they have no pic, I pretty much ignore them.. no interests listed, I skip it.. less than a few lines in their about me secion, I pass it over.. The way I see it, i want to talk to people who have something to say.. I don't have patience for people who are just wasting their time, or mine. so.. yes, i hate fake profiles... If yer here, make it worth everyone's time.

I like profiles that are direct with a little personality in them. The rest, I rather get to know personally. You can write a novel and talk a novel but its face to face that counts. | |

I hate the fake profiles that spam local events that if you looked them up in a serach engine - show up. Spam bots on POF?! Nooooooooooooooo! Say it aint so!
Also dont like the people who email you to tell you how you're 'not worthy' of them b/c they're sooo much better looking then the pic you've posted. | |

this site is free, and the paid dating sites just keep sending me spam from "hot women" who wants to have sex tonight, if only I was a paying member to mail them my hotel suite number

What exactly are you expecting from on-line? You are upset about fake profiles, then you are upset about them not responding to your emails, then you want to pester them with hate mail until they delete their account.
Get over it! If the profile looks fake to you, then MOVE ON! Why are you wasting your time worrying about something that you can't control? Best to spend your time on those people who have honestly put themselves on-line here.

I dunno. I don't think its gay people like I've heard some express. I think its something else. Hiding fer sure.
Having a picture and verification is by no means proof. The picture could be of a neighbor for all we know. As long as its not someone famous, no one WOULD know.
Before laws and rules can be put into place, there would need to be a way to establish definitive proof of identities. For all you know that "doctor" your talking to is really some 13 yr old kid.
And not everyone whose married is looking to cheat either.
If their spouse did go on here looking for them and they had a fake pic and fake profile info, then how could they get caught? exactly.
So best advise is, just be careful and use common sense.
I agree with the second posting. Alot of these people are just on here to chat and maybe flirt online and never plan on meeting anyone. They probly figure the best way to do that is to make an attractive profile.
Yes it decepetive, but they probly figure they aren't hurting anyone if it just harmless chatting and forum posting.
It is hard to enforce anything on posers/fakers as you can't really pin anything down unless they REALLY screw up. A good poser looks like anyone else. So just be careful. | |

It's just a question of common sense. I think if you take the time to talk to the person it should be evident how genuine that person is. A poser's profile is an empty shell - probe it deep enough and it will fall apart. A genuine person actually has substance to his character, and whether you're chatting with that person online or in person, that should come across.
Of course, some people are looking for a nice cover without bothering to read the contents, and I think these type of people are more easily take in by a glamorous photo with a "wow" profile. If the person sounds like a 13 year old to me, I won't give them much attention, no matter what age they claim to be. | |

interests: many
about me: i will tell you when i know you better
first date: why do i as woman have to decide that (or similar)
...but they might not be fake... i was thinking if they might be the "real" thing! coz it's the best way to tell others that you are unimportant, have nothing achieved in life, nothing to talk about and as so you are boooring! says everything i think...
i've never answered those.
regarding profiles without pic:
i dont get answers neither (i would then only write if profile is awesome), but i can top that: four times those profiles now wrote me first and then asked me after the 2ND (!!!) email for my number.
and to come to an end, i'd like to say that you never know what you get. if that person is a liar, if the pics are real, ...
only way to find out is to select carefully and then finaly set a date
