| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:06:20 PM | | if it's free go ahead then , if it's a pay site.......dating takes enough of a toll on us, let alone paying for it! | |
|
| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:06:44 PM | | what is it? is it another dating site? is it free? what's the address? I mean hell, I'll try it I haven't had any luck on here so why not? | |

| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:09:58 PM | | No, it costs big money. It's not a dating site. They take a complete personality profile in a two hour interview and then match you up with one person at a time. | |

| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:13:18 PM | | This is maybe off topic, but is the only reason you are on POF is because it's free? If someone is prepared to put money into it, it says that they are a little bit serious. To be honest, there's a lot of flakes on POF. | |

| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:14:50 PM | | Lifemates isn't a website. Well, maybe they have a website but it is, essentially, a matchmaking service that you pay for. | |
|
| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:14:56 PM | xp, the reason I STARTED up with POF is because it's free. Frankly, it's the only one I can afford. And I've found it to be a lot better than some of the paid sites I've been on.
No, have no interest in trying Lifemates.

| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:17:24 PM | | I guess what I am looking for is someone who has gone through their process or, at least knows someone who has, before I dump the cash. | |
|
| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:20:38 PM | | save the cash...find something your passionate about and do it, you will find like minded people doing the same.......it's a start! | |

| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:24:38 PM | Hi,,,,,I think I can help you. I paid. At the time,,,newly divorced with custody of my five yr old,,,,,I was a tv news professional in a small town in Iowa. I was so horny and happy to be free! Ready to date and get down and dirty,,,,but,,,,,one problem,,,,I was on television and everybody talks about news people like they are celebrities in small towns....so the bar scene didn't "jive".
When I was at wits end to find a boyfriend. Bunch of dummies there,,,anyway, I went to a professional place in a strip mall....
I was on t.v.,,,and newly divorced,,,,so shouldn't really be hanging out in a skanky bar lookin' for men. But that's what we did back then.
Realizing this wasn't good for my public image,,,,I went to a place, paid the $200 "interview" fee. (LOL) kind of like a processing fee. or "connection fee".

| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:30:50 PM | Put it this way... the reason this site is as populated as it is with what I consider quality people, is because it's free, thus the pressure is OFF to hook up with someone who may be all wrong for you.
I have never tried Lifemates, but I can guarantee you would prefer to have a say in who you choose to meet, like you can on here.
They are interested in lining their own pockets without having your best interests at heart.
|
| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 6:42:06 PM | You are right,,,"Dreamer"....they sent me a red-haired guy down from sioux falls, ia,,,about 90 miles away,,,,a businessman,,,independent guy who was 42 and likes to fly planes. He flew his cessna in two hours late while my son and I waited at the airport.
Went downhill from there. No chemistry.
AND,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I paid them $200 to sign up,,,,and,,record a 30 second blurp about me for video,,,put me on the internet (SAME THING YOU ARE DOING NOW...... ) AND,,,
No chemistry. Blah.

My advice: Dont spend the money,,,,u r doing just fine here. AFTER ALL,,you met me!

| Lifemates...anyone tried it? Posted: 12/4/2005 7:18:21 PM | OK, here's the scoop and slag me if you like:
I have been on POF for about six months. During that time, I have dated and met good women. I have also been stuck in this sort of email limbo with many. We communicate and share a lot on-line but it goes no further. Now, for a women who says "chat/email" or "only here for the forums" I can understand and I enjoy our frequent banter back and forth. But if a woman states her intentions to date, or "long term" or whatever, why does she say "I am not ready". I have met many women on this site who express an interest in dating but, in fact, date nobody. When push comes to shove, they opt for the safety of their home and their computer.
I am not a guy who presents himself as a pitiful case desperately looking for a "soulmate". Maybe that's part of the problem. Maybe if I presented myself as a poor wretch looking for another poor wretch then we could be wretched together.
My thoughts on the matchmaking service that costs money: A women is, essentially, putting her money where her mouth is. By putting her credit card on the line she is not allowing herself to float around in POF neverland.
Again, there is value to the free forums on POF and value to the free dating service that POF provides. However, a dating service may handle things in a different light.
OK, I'm done. | |
