We should dress for comfort, and part of that comfort is how we are recieved. All women are beautiful, and yes some more so than others. As a man I want to see as much of that beauty as possible, but sometimes a little mystery can really get the motor turning over too. Dress as you want everyone to see you, not how a few judgemental, perhaps jealous, women feel you should.
You know every guy here is wondering just how darn fit you are, don't you?

Posted: 12/6/2005 6:21:37 PM | | I think that women who are "of a certain age" should not dress the same as 20 year old girls because it makes them look desperate to look young. The clothes they wear are not about fit stomachs, they are about youth - which a 40 year does not have (compared to the 20 year old). Dress your age, not your desire to look like a kid. If you really have a great body, it will show just as well in age appropriate clothing.

Posted: 12/6/2005 9:47:42 PM | | Dress in what makes you feel good, who says revealing a belly button is only for 20 year olds..if a 40 year old has a nice tummy why the heck can't she wear a lil top as well? There are some 20 year olds out there wearing those types of tops that so shouldn't be..and are they frowned upon? No!! so why can't an older woman who looks good in one wear one?

I prefer clothes.

Yes, I would say there is definitely "age specific" clothing stores - for both men and women. Or, in some places, different departments. Oh what stores are they I will dress however I want. I'm 42 and look over 10 yr younger according to everyone that meets me- men & women I have a better body than my 21 yr old daughter and yes she will say so So why can't I dress in whatever I like and/or looks good on me?

| How should a very fit 40 year old dress? Posted: 12/7/2005 4:13:41 AM | A 40 year old woman should dress in whatever makes HER feel comfortable.. As someone else pointed out, girls 20 years younger walk around with muffin tops ( ) If you work hard and have a body to be proud of there is NO reason not to show a wee bit of skin.. Go Girls!!!! | |

Let's face it, if you go to the trouble to stay in very good shape, chances are you like yourself. So don't start in on "tastefully", or "age appropriate". Sure some people (men and women) couldn't dress themselves well if thier soul depended on it, but your original post shows enough thought about the social alternatives in dress so you should be given the respect to know the difference between class, trash, and just nicely prevocative and want to know where the lines are. Fair enough. If other women give you the look up and down, just ask yourself the place adjusted equivalent of, "Am I wearing a bathrobe to the Opera?" If the answer is no, then don't sweat thier jealousy, or thier men's either for that matter.
My two cents. | |

IMHO that is appropriate and fine to dress that way MOST ofthe time. To a board meeting, or business function maybe not....but on your own time for sure.
More power to ya.....and do NOT let all the jealous people get you down, they just wish they could look like you .
