whole surrealist movement is punctuated by the brilliant works of this master.
Absolutely
.....Miro is another gem.
It's nice when the well-known artists of a particular genre aren't mindless unoriginal hacks for a change.

| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/10/2005 6:10:02 PM | | too bad I didnt' discover old school punk until recently. I am a fan of Dali. I went to the Dali Museum in St. Pete, FL. But I'd really like to go to the one in Barcelona. There are so many ideas in his paintings and drawings. I was most suprised by the SIZE of some of his works. They were HUGE. I have been suprised by the violence in some of his works and wondered how the war in Spain effected him. I saw a short film he did long ago. I'm not remembering the title. It was definately SURREAL. | |

| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/10/2005 6:38:27 PM | definitely huge works im contemplating several of his works as tattoos | |

| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/10/2005 11:29:02 PM | wow. salvador dali is like a god to me. despite the mans misgivings, he was a genius and is WAY overlooked in the art world. sure, Monet did beautiful work, but he didnt show the true genius that dali did. my all time fave dali painting is Young Virgin Autosodomized By Her Own Chastity.

| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/12/2005 12:31:32 AM | Dali briefly collaborated with Walt Disney for a film project, but it fell through and Disney lost interest.....but it would have been awesome!

|
| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/12/2005 1:25:25 PM | | Dali is said to have been homosexual, hey? Carlos Lozano (Colombian president, lawyer, author) and Federico Garcia Lorca (renowned playwright) were said to be a couple of his lovers. | |
|
| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/12/2005 3:56:18 PM | Dali was the greatest! Love that bizarre surrealism! By the way, has anybody seen the short movie "Un chien andalou", which Dali co-directed with Luis Buñuel ? Talk about strange imagery! The movie opens with the scene of a razor blade slitting a woman's eye; from then on, it gets weird... A great "first date" movie, to be sure!! | |

| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/13/2005 8:17:36 PM | | whether the were *sses or not, they still have amazing work. im sore there were other people in history who you like the work of who were *sses, you just dont know lol... no offense ally.. just my thoughts | |
|
| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/13/2005 8:23:36 PM | I have always based my admiration of Dali on his art and his eccentric nature - he really was a trip.
He was an artist, if I want to look up to someone because of who they are in the inside I will look at a humanitarian not an artist!
|
| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/14/2005 5:44:24 PM | Dali was a homosexual..which means?... Da Vinci was supposed to be one and he was a genius Elton John is,and he is fantastic..(Captain Fantastic.lol)
Dali was a genius and he had a sense beyond comprehension...and if you get the chance do a Google search for his diary...interesting reading.
|
| any salvador dali fans Posted: 12/14/2005 6:13:59 PM | oh crikey, if you would have read my followup post, you would have seen that i meant nothing by the comment. It is just a fact about dali that i found interesting. even though he was with his wife for many years and adored her, she was more of a muse to him than a lover.
Why d so many people on here have to pick apart peoples comments and take offense to what was unintentially said? *sigh*....
