| Has anyone heard about the new child support law coming into effect? Posted: 12/19/2005 3:40:58 PM | | Ok, so this guy tells me last week that starting between jan and april, that child support will begin having the parents split the cost of raising a child by month.. He said that both the CP and the NCP will have to pay the state then it gets shuffled around and sent back to the CP after their fees and crap are taken out.. what the hell does this mean!!?!! does that mean that the CP is benefiting?? because we all know that the child support we get doesn't even amount to HALF of the cost to raising a child! OR is the NCP benefiting from this??? I have been so upset about this anyway.. I don't know what to think, don't i pay enough, instead of having to send MY money in to them anyway??? whats the purpose of that?? child support is suppose to be for the NCP to help pay for the support to the child.. is it not?? what purpose is it going to be for the custodial parent to pay child support for a child they are already supporting?? In which also other bills sometimes come up for the child unexpectedly!? | |

| Has anyone heard about the new child support law coming into effect? Posted: 12/19/2005 7:32:02 PM | | I agree with you o-t-b, the courts aren't fair. I've been in the same boat $1500/month in CS/Bills/car payment, while I had to borrow a car to get back & forth to work & 11 people (and none of them with jobs) lived in the house that I was paying for... Mine turned out ok though, I have my son/house/car now. Child support is meant for the child but I can't come up with a way to make it work for the dead beat moms (not generalizing, just speaking of my X) who don't use it they way they should. Oh I could rant & rave on this, but guess that requires another thread... | |

| Has anyone heard about the new child support law coming into effect? Posted: 12/20/2005 5:04:44 AM | | Most child support laws are a state matter, not national. That includes determining how much you pay. I believe most states actually have formulas based on your income to determine this. The states oversee enforcement of orders as well as how it is obtained from the non-custodial parent. Personally, I would hate to see the federal government putting their hand into it....it is confusing enough already. | |

Posted: 12/20/2005 5:29:34 AM | | I dont believe the govt would be taking out fees for this sort of thing and if its a new one it would affect only the new cases coming up - it would give the more power to them to collect from the more parents that dont pay. They will sent out notices explaining what its about - than after reading instead of taking what one guy says as literal, youi can get upset.

| Has anyone heard about the new child support law coming into effect? Posted: 12/20/2005 5:49:07 AM | i HAVEN'T taken it literal, .. My Case isn't new either.
But it does upset me for the simple fact now, even as my daughters bio father is enforced to pay child support he is still NOT paying the full amount each week and it really irks me that he can get away with that. This money is for the support of my child.. and YES i do depend on it to pay for her freaking daycare.
Oh and btw.. cse DOES take out fees, just so ya know.. the ncp pays it when they pay child support.
You'd be surprised as how the cse works here! They don't send out notices for ANYTHING!

Danigirl: I live in PA where the state automatically attaches CS from wages and grabs tax refunds for arrearages, all with no fee. However, if thre is a fee, it should be going towards enforcement and child protection services so you should complain to the agency that is supposed to collect the full amount.
o-t-b: I have some killer rice and beans recipes! Necessity being the mother of invention and all.

In Nevada, the supreme court has a website that people can access and see whatever the latest opinions have been issued in the cases that they hear. This includes family cases, criminal cases, civil litigation etc. You may want to find out about something similar for your state. If it exists, you may want to visit that page at least weekly to see what decisions have been rendered. These are the cases that are later used as references in future cases.

Posted: 12/21/2005 11:52:36 AM | | This sounds like it could be related to a case where the parents are having problems coming to terms with child support. Kind of a last resort, bring the courts in to help solve your problems. Which would explain why they are charging fees, trying to get you to work it out before making the courts do the job for you. This would not go over as a normal procedure.

| Has anyone heard about the new child support law coming into effect? Posted: 12/21/2005 12:45:37 PM | | well, dani i havent heard anything about this until now. but im not familiar with any of it yet. i would hope it isnt true though, that wouldnt seem to help the custodial parent at all. i mean, i could see them splitting the cost for insurance, or even for school costs, but if the child lives with 1 parent 99.9% of the time, wich i personally know yours and many others do. why should THEY pay even more out of there pocket, ( wich they probably dont have anyways ) to any one? shouldnt it be enough that they hold jobs ( sometimes more than 1 ) , stay out of jail, keep there children in school, and put a roof over there heads, food in there bellies, and love them everyday?... thats WAY more than some ppl do and the state still takes money from us that supports those children that parents have chosen to give up. i would hope this is all a load of bull, or we r all screwed......can u say PROTEST!!!! | |

| Has anyone heard about the new child support law coming into effect? Posted: 12/21/2005 9:58:53 PM | this is new to me and girl north carolina laws are not that much better. cse sucks out here in Raleigh, NC. I mean the amount I receive for my son only pays for his lunch at school per week and to hear that they may make the cp pay support as well is just CRAZY.. I mean we only take care of them morning, noon and night. provide a place for them to stay and food for them to eat. Yes it is my responsibility and all but that makes no sense. Give me a break. But I too will do some investigating down here in the NC to let you know. This is just down right wrong if it is true.

Sign up with the child support recovery in your state iowa is 1-888-229-9223 and they will take all of your ex's income tax return check until the kid is 18. I think it is a good law for dead beat parents. Of course you already have to have a court order in place at the time that you call them. Good Luck!
