| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 1/7/2005 4:05:26 PM | *puts on a pancho, walks around barefoot in the mud for a bit and gets high, in order to achieve 'hippie mode'*
Survey says, a protest rally. Find out where the WTO or the G7 nations are hanging out this week, and go there... there's bound to be some unemployed deep-poet-types there crying from tear gas or unfair trade practices.
You might also consider jazz clubs or those oddball poetry readings that are prevalent in college towns, you might actually run into some employed deep-poet-types at these events.
PlentyOfFish also has a few I've noticed. Sadly, they're all in Berkeley and have a lot more money than me, which makes me angry.

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 1/8/2005 5:57:46 AM | | Since none of those places sound like fun to me, it got me thinking. Maybe instead of deciding what kind of woman I want, I should think of fun places to be and go see what kind of woman is there. I wonder where a guy goes to find a target rich environment if he is looking for a hermit, homebody or loner? What kind of net catches a social butterfly? The women I've seen hanging out in coffee shops seem nervous. I will have to give some more thought to this idea of the relationship between where I look and what kind of woman I will likely find there. Thanks for your inspiration. Dr. Phil is vague on the specifics. | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 1/8/2005 6:00:37 AM | | A recent new your times article said that Bookstores are the best places to meet people, especially ones that have a coffee bar. Just hang in the section that interests you, and sooner or later a woman will come by with similar interest. And you will have something to talk about, and it can progress easily to sharing a coffe. | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 1/8/2005 6:34:34 AM | | That explains what I noticed last time I was at B&N. A flock of empowered women were surrounding a display of Oprah's book club titles, while a stand of furtive men were packed into the aisle by the human sexuality books. Maybe I should have said something to that cute blonde standing in the self-help section with her head hung low, who looked so sad and confused. Next time I go this insight will help me judge people by the covers of their books. I will go to see what kind of books have the best women standing next to them. The NYT has come through again for the cause of true love! I will check the sofa cushions for enough change to buy a coffee. | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 1/9/2005 8:48:50 AM | I prefer the groupie route myself. There are plenty of local bands here in Knoxville and once you get to know one person, you're in.
Bookstore idea: AWESOME! I've done that before. I was in the horror section or whatever and I noticed this guy was following me. A purple-spike haired cutie. ANYWAY! Enough of that.
I would definitely recommend the open mic nite. Do you write poetry yourself? Bring some along with you that isn't incredibly personal but thought-provoking. The "Borrowing" idea is good, too. Especially if the poet isn't that popular. It shows you have a real deep interest in the subject instead of just skimming the surface.
Just my humble opinions.
PS I write poetry... | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 1/15/2005 12:24:38 PM | Well I finally made it down to the local megabookmall to redeem the gift card I got over the holidays. The good news is, the self-improvement section was empty. It looks like my neighbors are content with themselves. I am glad.
I stood by the small poetry selection a while reading titles. Some old friends, some I haven't met yet. I am sad to report no success meeting someone there. I found a nice big collection of translations by Robert Bly.
Before leaving I swung by the magazine rack in case some hot biker babe was waiting by the hot biker magazines. It was a long shot. On the way back to the cash register I passed through the religion section, where a pair of perfectly matched young white blonde souls were side by side, she looking at books, he almostly not looking at her. Past them in the human sexuality row a big gay panda man smiled and said excuse me as I squeezed by.
For some reason there were four open cashiers and no line. The farthest saw me first and smiled, so I went to her. She was amazing! My age, too, I think. She was exactly what I am looking for as first impressions go. I don't like to bother people while they are at work. It seems impolite. I'll say hi if I see her around somewhere.

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 4/30/2005 11:28:00 AM | we're up here in Canada
;)
some of us are everyday people on the sidewalk...
we love to write it...
be it for ourselves...
or to sneak under the pillow for our unsuspecting lover...
we're all around you...
some don't even know the poet within...

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 5/1/2005 9:13:13 AM | | The last time I went to Canada to meet a woman she was only poetic and light-hearted online. She was suicidal in person. But I had a good time except for that part of the trip. I like meatloaf but I can't have any these days because of my fat loss weight training program, which is much more manly than a diet sounds. Barnes and Knobble didn't produce, but now that it is Spring I will have another try. Maybe bookworms get frisky when the trees blossom. | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 5/1/2005 9:52:43 AM | Bookworms do get frisky when the trees blossom, and even in the depths of winter.
A "light-hearted Poet"- I've yet to meet one. They may be mythical or extinct. I can only speak about other writers and poets I've known. We are only ight-hearted on occasion. Other times, we may be searching for the right word or phrase, or metaphor or similie and may not be as attentive as you might wish. However, if you should come upon a poet or a writer who has just been pulished. Get ready to celebrate!
Bookstores are highly recommended, whether or not you meet someone. They're also dangerous since they suck up my cash when I visit them.
