The 9/11 Florida schoolhouse reaction was really weird, and he seemed too easily intimidated in the campaign debates... There are many more examples out there...
To serve well as president I think it takes extraordinary judgement and nerves of steel. He seems to lack either trait. But I'm no Political Scientist, just calls 'em like I sees 'em.
If he makes it through he'll be mediocre at best. We can all agree to that, red or blue.
But is he OK?

The republicans in this country recruit people like Reagan, Schwarzennegar... famous actors and so forth... and they don't know government from spit. They have a name that the public is familiar with... even bush, although in a political family; couldn't name the leaders of five major nations after he declared his candidacy for president...
The may ask "What do I have to know?"
They're told "don't worry about it, just read the speeches and we'll deal with that part." which is what administartions and secretary's and party insiders like Carl Rove DO.. right?
now in the case of Reagan, he knew a little bit... He knew how to play the public and he knew what side of the issues republicans were on. Believe me, some of those debates he got SMEARED, but the public didn't know he was lying, so no big deal....
Sonny Bono is another... but he was actually SMART...
Schwarzennegar doesn't know politics, but he has public relations skills way above the average politician and enough smarts to know how to relate to dems. He's actually a good *political* friend of smart politicians like Willie Brown and the like...
Notice how little he had to do with Bush in California before the election... he's no dummie.
But bush is witless and stupid.... he's wrong every time. He's a liar and an a** and a thief... and EVERYONE KNOWS IT except an equally witless bunch of voters... and I don't believe the outcome of the elections. Something rotten at the polls... | |

Posted: 1/12/2005 3:05:02 PM | At the end of Fahrenheit 911 Micheal Moore played the scene over and over again where Bush heard the news of the terrorist attacks and then just sat there. Like it was a major crime. I don't think it was weird, because if I were in his position I would want a few minutes to think, too. Anything to buy some time to think, before the whirlwind started. All I can say is I'm glad I wasn't president on 9/11 or when the whole economy went down the tubes. Even though I didn't vote for Bush either time, and felt strongly against it, I still have to appreciate the sacrifice that it would take to be in his shoes. It's hard for me to understand why people take on a job like that voluntarily. And yes, I think he's mentally well.
Imagine the pressure of having to respond to the destruction of the world trade center and part of the Pentagon. It seemed like Afghanistan was finished and regime-changed in no time at all. I did not agree with going into Iraq, but I can understand why the administration did it. They were up against something entirely new, and hadn't been attacked on the mainland U.S. since the inception of the country (I don't think). And the potential mass destruction of some of those weapons out there!! Very hard to know --- I don't pretend to have greater wisdom on all the ins and outs of international actions than those who have all the inside scoop and the responsibility of 300 million people's lives, who have entrusted them to keep them safe. In their shoes I might have done the same thing, as hard as that is to imagine. | |

Guess what chief, whats good for California and the East coast isn't always good for the Midwest and the South. That goes for both social and economic issues. At 45 years old I would have thought that that would have dawned on you by now. | |

You do something. You MUST do something.
What do you do as commander-in-chief?
1)You EXCUSE yourself from the classroom. An invasion is more important than a photo op.
2) you ask what response to the threat is taking place
3) you talk to people analyzing the situation. Find out what's being done and what NEEDS to be done.
4) You make SURE everything that should be done is GETTING DONE.
5) You contact advisors who are supposed to know what's supposed to happen and how we're going to respond.
You DON'T: just let someone else worry about it.
George Bush is incompetent.
No matter HOW many excuses you make for him; that was his defining moment as president and he's never risen above that level.
The mess we're in right now is just a continuation of that incompetence. | |

Deflating the dollar has been the best thing that has happened to the Midwest in 20 years. That alone gave Mr. Bush my vote this year. American beef prices can compete on an international level again which means about everyone inthe Midwest is doing a whole hell of a lot better than they were during the Clinton years. | |

However the 911 school reaction shouts of incompetence more than anything.
I have a pic that has been banned from this site... it is a picture of time magazine cover, with "black tuesday" ribbon crossing the upper right hand corner, says 'time' in big red letters at the top.. Under that in white "we are" under that, bush with a incredibly dumb look on his face, from one of last years debates (i think)and under the pic it says, in white "Fucked"
So, unless he is impeached, yes we are Fucked for the next four years. | |
