rude emails that spoil your POF experience
Posted: 1/15/2006 3:36:03 PM
This is the first time I have started a thread. I did a search and there was another similar one but it had more to do with guys just being pigs.
My question which is mainly for the women but men might also have something to share is this: Do you ever get emails that are so rude that it takes away from the fun of being on this site?

My reason for posting this is that last month I had an email from someone that had been a regular at posting. They emailed me to comment on something I had posted and we began an exchange of emails discussing various topics in the forums. Then just after Christmas She mentioned getting a lot of really rude emails from men. Followed by an email saying she had enough and was leaving pof and deleted her ID. I was shocked. I don’t know if that’s why she left but it was the only thing that was mentioned as a possible reason. I feel bad now, as I hadn’t exchanged email addresses as we had just kept the conversation thru the pof email. I wont mention who it was but I know that there must be a lot of others that have noticed her sudden departure. This person lived very far from me and had a bf so we really were just having friendly discussions.

What percentage of emails do you get that are rude or that in someway make you want to block the sender?
As a man the worst email I have ever had just simply asked what I did for a living and how much did I make. That was it. Just a one liner. I think it’s the only email I haven’t responded to. It was just too shallow. If I make lots then I guess she’s interested and I have a gold digger. Or I say I make a little and she moves to the next profile. There is nothing wrong with asking those questions but not before you even say hello.

If somehow the person I am refering to drops by the forums and sees this...I hope 2006 will be a good year for you.

Haven't received any that were rude and wouldn't dare allow any to ruin my experience here.

It's possible that I know of the poster you are referring to. If I'm right, there's a good chance she'll be back because this isn't the first time she left.

I can say with all honesty that I know how your friend felt. At least a third of the email I get is from either really warped people, or just plain strange. I have had people try to preach their religion to me right off the bat without even a hello. Send me scriptures that are so long I would never have time to read them all. Yes, I blocked him. I have also had emails from guys that think that I did not service my ex enough and that that is why I am a lonely old hag and then there are the ones that really hate Canadian girls because we think that we are so perfect. I am not sure how any of them could tell any of these things from my profile. There are times that I get so frustrated that I just stop answering the email altogether. I do get many letters from people that I have come to feel are dear friends and it is not really fair to them that I can not get past some of the resentment and frustration to write to them. I have even considered deleting my account as well. This would not be too bad because I have given my regular email address to those that are friends. Yet there are also some that do not have regular email and do not know how to set one up. I would loose those. I have now opted for just blocking them. If I get more, and I know that I will, I will just block those as well. But it does get frustrating and I can see why she would delete her account. She probably just needs time to cool off and may very well create a new account. If and when she does, she may contact you.

I have recieved some rude ones, but the majority are nice and polite. I guess maybe 2% are rude. None of them make me want to block the sender. I have never blocked anyone because those morons give me the best laughs in this pond.

Here's a good example: This pin-head wrote to me out of the blue (no previous contact) and said "Molested by your dad?" That was it...wow...I've seen rude, but that was the rudest. So we exchanged a few hate-mails and now this retard thinks I want to meet him!! Honest to god, he sent me his pic, started spilling his guts to me about his vulnerabilities and sensitivities, what makes him cry, and blah blah blah and...he thinks we are going to meet. Man o man! What I want to know is how did he get the straight jacket off and escape from the mental hospital.

Oh there is another funny twist to the story, if you want to know....

Why let them ruin your fun?? Who cares what some moron has to say? DELETE and BLOCK!! Simple as that. Its so easy for people to hide and talk trash from behind their computer!! Why get upset by that.

some guy saying he wanted to lick stuff. that was really gross. i dont remmeber if he had a pic but he some 19 year old boy. i actually took the time to reply to his email and let him know what i thought of him and proceeded to block him. gross motherf*cker. an email doesnt neccessarily have to be rude before i block someone. even bad english is a good excuse

i know of a few pofer's who have been harassed by rude emails and stalked on the forums. you can block and delete but sometimes, these people will log on with different names/diff computers and start the whole process again. it's a shame that some idiots ruin the pof experience for some, and you can report this type of abuse to the moderators but there's only so much a mod can do. some of these bullies are relentless.

for many people, it's not worth giving the bullies the power to ruin your day over email. why keep coming back for more abuse?

there are some people i loved chatting with on here that left b/c of rude emails. i am sorry that they are gone b/c i really liked reading their posts and chatting with them.

Yuppers....I get them all the time, and it does wear a person down after awhile. The first few, I was appalled and would answer them back, then block them, so they wouldn't retaliate with an even worse barrage of insults. I think that makes them even more insulted if you just block and don't respond. They might want to rethink what it is what they're doing wrong to have everyone they mail block them.
I had this one 60 year old mail me nasty one, so I replied, "What's the matter? You don't measure up and want something you can't ever have? I also berated him for acting like that at his age. Then I blocked his nasty self.
Another, at 59 just sent a one liner asking for a pix of my azz so, I mailed him back and berated him as well, but forgot to block him before I logged offline. In comes some garbled message about killing rats for his last supper.....All I could think of was ewwwww!! How gross was he?
Another wanted to know if I was really hot or was I just making stuff up in my profile. I responded with he'll never ever know and good luck with your searches.

Then the rudest were from some marrieds looking to play...and the kidlets looking for a MILF experience.........I blocked them too.

Got one hate letter from a guy but he did it to everyone in a certain thread. Otherwise, never received anything even remotely rude.
