| why cant people see past the uniform
Posted: 1/16/2006 10:09:22 PM | | hi im just wondering if anyone can tell me why most women dont like to chat with squaddies when they dont even take the time to get to know them. Its really annoying being painted with the same brush as every other squaddie. so maybe the uniform is the same but the people are always different, if anyone can enlighten me please go ahead. | |

All they ever wanted to do was fight, with there own people,you guys would go out in groups and fight anyone that looked the wrong way,that was a few years ago. But on saying that I also worked with some very professional airforce personnel over there. So I can imagine the reputation that follows you around,I know you are all not bad. | |

Posted: 2/15/2006 9:08:08 PM | Well i agree with young Thomas here. Being a squaddie can make your love life a bit shit especially if you have to live in another country ie Germany. You come home and no girl wants to know you if you say you're a squaddie. Soo you just avoid the subject!
Disagree with the other geezer though, we dont all want to fight! We are highly professional. The best Army in the world! | |

Haven't you learned that the majority of women think a guy in a uniform is sexy? And, if you are finding women that you say "don't even take the time...", well, why would u even care? They are obviously not worth knowing either, if they are that shallow. | |

But maybe you should consider that women realize if you are in the service, you will be away a lot. They could be thinking, why bother, he won't ever be home. Which is a understandable, especially at your age. Give it some time and either the you and the girls will mature, or you'll get out of the service....either way, it'll get easier. | |

I speak to a lot of guys like you that get really fed up with it, it's just small mindedness, see if all squaddies are the same, does that mean all nurses are, all shopworkers are etc etc
