| They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day... do you agree... what did you have today? Posted: 1/25/2006 8:03:13 AM | | The reason it is the most important meal is it jumps starts your system/ If you are losing weight you need to have something early. The euros have it right, fruit, bread and cheese. My problem is this, if I eat early I am hungry again earlier. And then I eat more so now I eat, maybe once a day and am not even hungry now until late in the afternoon. At least I don't gain. Not losing anymore. I have heard that several, 5-7, smalls meals a day is best for losing weight, assuming you aren't eating the 99 cent menu at McD's. | |

Posted: 1/30/2006 3:34:17 PM | my son will only have the thin corncake ( popcorn sqaushed into a flat cake) with peanut butter and vegemite on them... or some netulla on bread.... those pretty much keep his engery levels up all day....
i know this sounds gross.... but on sunday mornings i make up.. diced middle bacon rasher with rind still on... 1 medium onion diced.. thru in a pot with a bit of butter.. cook until bacon is crispy... then toss in a large can of buttered mushrooms... until that is heated thru.... and serve on toast.... ya should be eating within 5 mins....
another one of my quick favourites.. is a bacon, egg and cheese jaffle.... butter 2 slices of bread.... put one buttered side down into the sandwich maker then crack an egg.. salt and pepper... raw bacon.. then cheese... topped with the other slice of bread with butter facing up.... then cook until bread is toasted and egg is slightly firm... all sides of the sandwich will be sealed from the sandwich maker... you can also put in there ham tomato cheese... or savoury mince.. or anything your little heart desires.... that too should only take about 5mins to cook.... and your left with a pretty pattern on your sandwich from where it was clamped and toasted...
oh maybe i should have something for brekkie now....

I like to boil bacon into cabbage, beans or soups, so I don't mind it like that, but most Americans are into crispy bacon.
Is the "sandwich maker" kind of like a double sided waffle iron? or like a little horizontal toaster oven?
I am in a hotel until the end of the week so I ordered up corned beef hash and sunny side up eggs. Don't understand these New Yorkers.... i asked for hot tea and it came in an expresso mini cup. Man, that's just not right.

Posted: 1/30/2006 5:24:02 PM | the bacon does cook i guess it is steamed.... it doesnt get crispy.... as it is in the actual jaffle and doesnt hit anything hot to make it crispy... but i must say it does get messy when cooking...lol.. theres a nack to it...
I guess you can use a double sided waffle iron... i have a sandwich iron that dad gave me.. which you put on a hotplate and turn... he finally went electric after about 30years using the iron.... but... these arent flat... they are slightly raised in the middle so you can put filling in there.... its hard to explain... heres a link

thats one of many around here.... you cant do it on a contact grill or sandwich press... wont work...
Hmmm...lol... did you tell them to take the tea back.. as it is not what you wanted?.... maybe you shouldve asked for a mug and you wouldve gotten the normal cup size....lol... everything is done on the large here... you might pay an arm and a leg for it but you do get your money worth... as when i took an american friend out a few times he couldnt get over how much better our foods tastes... the only added thing to everything over here... is the chefs love...lol...
