I know this forum is about guys and girls breaking our hearts, but mine has been broken for over a week. My dogs were stolen from the backyard on the 7th and we haven't seen them since. Of course I have put ads in the paper and hung poster everywhere. I have called all the Vets in town gone by the pound, but still nothing. Yesterday I got two calls but neither of the dogs found were mine. That was a total let down. Anyway, I just wanted to vent and this forum was here! Thanks for listening....hope everyone is having a great New Year!!

that is just soooo wrong!!! I really can't understand that people would do something like that. Don't they understand that pets are a huge part of the family? I'm really sorry to hear that lickingliz... and im pissed about it as well.
I took a look at your profile and saw your doggies....so cute... I hope that you'll get them back or atleast find out what happened to them... Take care

Totally heart breaking. So sorry for you. Don't they have the death penalty in Texas for kidnapping?

P.S. Check the classifieds for dogs for sale, you just never know.

I used to work as a vet assistant for six years. And one of the things I learned was that most dog-nappers take dogs for the soul purpose of breeding them. They know they don't have papers, but they see it as a quick way to make money.
They use dogs for a 'puppy mill' and sell them cheap, without papers.

If you haven't done it already, it might be a good idea to check the local breeders and have them keep a look-out for people who want to breed their dogs, but can't produce papers, or if the papers look suspicious, etc.
Yes, some folks are really that dumb.

I really, really hope you get your dogs back. I know how heart-breaking this can be. And I HAVE seen great endings to stories like this.

It may be a good idea to call your local animal shelter at least a few times a week. It never hurts to check.

So sorry for you...I am a huge animal fan, as well as a breeder...I agree with Cat...call some local breeders...we usually advertise in the pet section of the newspapers...or local magazine (like a bargainfinder or such)...or go on the internet to your dogs "breed" site..and check for local breeders there. Best of luck.

Thanks again for all the great advice....they are both Weimaraners. I have Spencer an 8 month old male and my baby girl Mason 3 mos. who is his sister from a later litter of puppies. If someone were to try and breed the dogs, they would find out the puppies won't be very pretty. Both dogs are AKC and CKC registered. The woman I got them from is a very dear friend and has been helping me through all of this. In essence these are my children...like I said before I am just devestated. I go to the pound every day at lunch and I call every Vet in the book in the mornings as well as the shelters in town. I have also reported them stolen with the police. We do have ads running in the local newspaper and the ad sack. We even have clothes in the front yard for them to smell our scent if they were near by. Again, thanks for all of your advice and kind words...even if there is a meat grinder and chain saw involved.....

My ex-wifes dog came came up missing once. He was gone for a few days and then a friend called to say she saw him tied up in a yard a couple towns away. She went over and the guy tried to tell her he thought this beautiful dog of hers was a stray so he took him home. Some people really are messed up. I do hope you get them back.

I sympathize with you completely. With any luck, they were taken by someone who actually wanted them Stil a**holes though. My ex scooped my 2 dogs before Christmas when I was at work and moved 2000 miles away. Then she gave them away. You don't know how good a friend your dog is until it's gone.

Still no word on the dogs, but we did get a call from fate....a gentlemen saw our ad in the paper and called to see if we were interested in buying his Weimaraner...turns out that his dog came from the same litter as our oldest dog...so we have adopted him. Completely different from our dogs, but we are going to give him as much love as we can and still hope for the return of our dogs.

awww that's so nice ^

I think checking the classifieds for dog sales is a good idea.
Who knows... they might even be on a breeding farm or whatever those places are called.

If my car was stolen...I'd get a friend to drive around knwn 'drop off' spots and help me look at it.
If something else was stolen... I'd start checking out pawnshops.

I think you can apply this kind of thinking to looking for the dogs.

I know how tuff this can be...I had my puppy a pure bread cocker spanial since he was 8 weeks old. About a year and a half before me and my ex started going out. And when we broke up 4.5 years later she took him and put him alseep the next day. I was so mad I asked her why she did this....her response was a simple "I didn't want you to be happy with him" I was so mad...she took $20 000 cash out of my bank, stole my car, my dog and cost me over $50 000 in legal fees.....and I miss my dog the most....At least she doesn't have him...but i sure wish she would of let me keep him

So chin up and I'll say a little prayer for your dogs....I know how a dog owner keeps them close to their heart.

Well still no word, but the Police Detective did come by to pick up recent photos yesterday...no it wasn't Ace Ventura!! Anyway, they send out like a missing childrens thing to the Vet clinics in the area (county?). So I am hoping we will get some response from this. Still not giving up! Thanks for the prayers....

I think I would slap a B!%@H for putting my dog to sleep just b/c she didn't want me to have him....sad thing is you probably DO miss the dog more than her and rightfully so!! Sorry for your loss, somewhere deep down I am sure you can see that the money and car were well worth not having her in your life.

You have my heartfelt prayers for the return of your babies! I know the attachment, I have one cute little dog "cowboy" a long haired daschund. I understand the attachment and love you have for them, they are loyal and loving members of the family. I was sick for a long time and when ever I would have a chemo treatment, or whatever, he would never leave my side. People don't understand, they have personalities as individual as ours. They are happy, sad, and give totally unconditional love. I am a firm believer in Karma, who ever took them will pay. I wish you the speedy return of your loved ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to read about your situation. Unbelievable the level some people stoop.
We were breeding jackson chameleons and had most of them stolen.
Hopeing it turns out well for you....
