I've been told a few times I had an effect on a woman, but I always pessimistically tell them to be careful, because liking someone online doesn't necessarily mean the chemistry is there in person. I speak from experience. Some peopel I knew and really liked online were ok in person, but we didn't click nearly as much as we did online. The internet leaves room for interpretation to some degree, and you really only talk to people who are in a talking mood, so you don't always see their worst side.

Posted: 2/6/2006 2:27:13 PM | I agree with them both. Most people do not meet your expectations when you meet them face to face - because often expectations are set very high.
A way to alleviate a nervous first meeting or a chemistry test is to try webcam - even if for a few minutes. It's ALMOST live, but if there's chemistry there, then there's a good possibility that it will still be there in person. | |

Posted: 2/6/2006 4:46:11 PM | | Yes I have. But like Melissa said, sometimes they just quit talking to you for whatever reason and you find yourself missing their emails. I believe with every person we meet they have an impact on our lives whether good or bad. Cherish the good experiences and let the bad ones slip off into the night. As far as the webcam thing...I agree that it is cool to talk to eachother "face to face" can bring you even closer together, but unfortunately I haven't had any good experiences with the webcams. So I put the cam away until I get to know them through email/chat/phone. But even then you never know, unless you're into that sort of thing. For me there is no satisfaction in cybersex and most cammers are out for only that. Or at least in my experience. | |

Let me tell you something though. No matter what has happened in my life she has always been there for me. No matter the subject content of our conversations, we have never.....ever, judged the other's beliefs nor their lifestyles. I only asked what her real name was once in all this time and she chose not to tell me. I respect her wish's and to this day still do not know her real name. She has been my little light in the dark times and hell on wheels in pointing out my flaws. She is like my second subconscous self. Has never asked anything of me other then my friendship and I the same of her. I at times thought of pushing the name thing but realized if I did so I could loose a very good friend. I know everything about her, and I mean everything, as she does me. If she never tells me her name so be it. I value her friendship above all else. | |

We live about 650 miles apart and both knew that there was something special that had to be explored. Happy to say that after 2 + months were still feeling each other. We call, email and communicate any way we can daily. | |

I have known one guy for the past 5 yrs and we have only emailed and talked on the phone. He is a very special person and I value him amd our friendship. He remembers the little details about me and what we have talked about. | |

He has been a friend to me like almost no one ever has. I have friends and family but this man knows ME...and we've never even met. One time he told me that I was someone that he could really "talk" to....that it's hard to meet people who can look past the image of who you are and really see what's inside. I try to do that with everyone I meet but realized that people rarely look beyond what's on the outside...what you choose to show them. He is a fairly well known actor on broadway and I imagine people don't look past the good looks and the image that he portrays to understand the man inside. It's had a profound effect on me being his friend...because he's taught me never to look at the outside...and always see beyond the smile. | |

Posted: 2/7/2006 9:55:57 AM | Mine was a radio announcer...listening to him just brought back the real me when I was in an unhappy marriage. He made me remember the me I had lost and to find it again. I have actually met him and talked to him via email but I don't really "know him"...if that makes sense? But I am deeply grateful to him even though he was just doing his job and didn't even know he was helping me so much!!! And, yes, I have told him.

I know there are some deceitful people who hide behind fake profiles pretending to be someone else, but I've always given everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Those that I do communicate with are of both genders, and I truly enjoy them and care about them! I'd love to meet them all someday, and maybe someday I will!
