And we build a nice wood fire - sitting in the garden relaxing. Ladies in the kitchen making the salads, garlic bread and pap. Friends arrive through out the day - bringing their share of food - music playing. The fire is ready and the meat goes on - the smell is mouthwatering. Garlic mushrooms and bananas wrapped seperately in tin foil are put on the grid above the fire. Dont forget the mealies - roasted on the grid as well! Potatoes and butternut put in the coals. Children playing games in the garden. Lunch ends around 6.00pm - when we all wind down for the day and get ready for the week. Oh yes I do miss those family days.

Posted: 7/8/2006 11:55:45 AM | | when I was growing up we always did a big sunday dinner in the early afternoon which cosisted of a roasted chicken or turkey or a beef or pork roast with all the trimmings and friends or extended family were normally invited. Nowadays people dont have time to do that anymore which is a shame. The most popular sunday tradition today around here is going out to a sunday brunch buffet which is normally just for special occasions.
