So my question to you all is.....
What do you think is the age of reason when it comes to sex? Do you think 16 yrs of age is exceptable? 18,19,21? what age do you think is exceptable intoday's society and why? | |

In Canada it is legal to have sex with someone at the age of 14, as long as you are not in a position of authority. The current governement wants to raise the age to 16. Which I am in favor of. I don't have a problem with two teenagers getting it on. I have a serious problem with a 16 year old and someone who is much older. My reason I have a 14 year old. | |

Myself i think it should 19 yrs of age..... | |

They're beyond the control of their parents and any protection a parent may try to offer at that point will be rebuked by the child anyway. Anyone who has teens knows exactly what I mean. I agree that 14, 16 are way to young.

well J hon my two eldest are 21 and 23 this yr so that leaves them out.....lol My 19 yr old is allready sexually active.......Which only leaves my 17 yr old who i know is not sexually active.....So to answer ur question NO!....Just asking for oppinions as i allready stated | |

Posted: 2/20/2006 9:44:58 AM | 19!!...and it should be made law! I have two girls, one 17 and one 19. My oldest became active early and got pregnant when she was 18. My granddaughter is now 13 months old. My oldest dropped out of school and now works at a dead end job. She wasn't living with me when this happened and is still on her own with a BF who is 22 and won't work.
My youngest lives with me and is not active, doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs. She is in high school and doing well. She is looking at her friends that have dropped out of school because of getting pregnant and doesn't want to follow in their footsteps.
I know it won't stop the younger ones from having sex, but it might help act as a deterrent for a while if the law changes to 19 years of age. | |

I think it would have given me more of a need to go have sex, just because it was another thing I wasn't supposed to do.
Teaching your kids EARLY what it is all about is important. Teaching them SAFE sex is important. Taking them to get protection should be a law! Being open and honest with your child so they feel comfortable coming to you about sex is more important than some law. | |
