| Why isn't there a Gamer thread!? BRING ON THE VIDEOGAMES!

I say they add it. :)
If anyone dares respond to this you should definately list your current list of favourite video games. You never know who might pop up with similar interests.
Personally I am a Metal Gear Solid FANATIC! I'm very excited for number 4 to come out... although not as excited to see Snake as an old man ^_^;;
Currently I'm playing Kingdom Hearts and enjoying it verily, a lot less childish than I was expecting.
As always I devour DDR.
And I also have a love for Soul Caliber 3! ^_^;; great times.

Posted: 2/20/2006 9:05:38 PM | MY Current Favorite Video Games Are quite numerous,Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri for the PC,Diablo(1 and 2) as well for the PC,Burnout 3 and 4 for the xbox Halo(1 and 2) for the Xbox as well,T.H.U.G,Elder Scrolls 3 Morrwind(xbox),Doom3,And of Course GTA San andreas.
Now a Lov eof Video Games is a turn on for me(I dont even mind gettin mah but whooped at em) its at the very least a Definate plus in my books :) | |

The San Andreas games are cool as well as the Madden football series. I was looking at Battelfield and Call of Duty the other day and thought they'd be fun to try. There are lots I like to play and think this is a great thread.As far as it being a turn on or turn off well, I gotta say it's kind of a turn on. I dig a woman who can frag like the rest of us! | |

I've tried most genres; RPG, puzzle, and so on, but with the emergence of good hardware-driven 3D games in the 90s it became clear that my favorite by a long shot is the first person shooter action game.
I took the handle 'Gunloon' in '97 when I got into Quake I and that's still the name I go by...through Quake I, II, Jedi Knight, and Unreal Tournament.
When I upgraded to a better PC a couple of years back I tried and liked UT 2004 somewhat, though it left me a bit cold. Far Cry was good, but wasn't so hot in the online play...then Half Life 2 came out. Oh my...
As expected, it's an exceptional online playing experience. I was even in an HL2 clan for a while (till it got juvenile), though now I'm pretty happy slaking my addiction with a few rounds a day at my favorite server. It compiles stats, and at my age of 44, it's nice to be ranked #5 of 155 regular players, especially given that so many there are teens and 20-somethings, usually caffeine-stoked to the gills on Code Red Mountain Dew or the equivalent!
Ahhh...nothing like meeting new and interesting people from around the world...and nailing them to the wall with a bolt of red-hot rebar from my crossbow!
Also, I've been thinking about developing my skills at online WW II type aerial combat. The premier game for this is still IL-2 Sturmovik, even though it's a few years old, especially with the addition of the Ace Expansion Pack and the newer Pacific Fighters. I think it'd be neat to get good enough to join an online squadron, though I've got a ways to go before my skills are up to snuff!

Kiddo has every game platform imaginable...he's making a collection, so he says...sheesh...hope he keeps them in good shape. he wants me to set up his P2 here so we can play on-line...but I haven't a clue about his games.
I like sid Meyers civilization series. Or Masters of Orion...guess I like the "god" type games, rather than the shoot and move type games. I did get a wheel and pedal for the P2 kiddo has...he has a couple race type games...closest thing to real driving I've seen....almost a simulator! I was impressed.
Lots of fun games out there...not ebough time to play them...or sometimes, not the money to buy them either. I'd like to try more on-line gaming (for free!), or even play against someone else...the puter is an ok opponent but not as fun as a living person! | |

Anywho.... I love all the real time strategy games like Red Alert, and Tiberian Sun, etc... As well as the first person shooters like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor, etc...

Posted: 2/22/2006 9:04:56 AM | Much like kallinite here, I am inclined to say I prefer RPGs over other video games. I'm probably a bit more extreme, but then again I am a loser.
Anyway, here's my list of top games:
Final Fantasy VI
Chrono Trigger
Tactics Ogre
Final Fantasy VII
Seiken Densetsu III
Short list anyway.
I must add that I also enjoyed Makai Kingdom, and actually played it a lot more than Disgaea. Then again I didn't buy Disgaea, that might explain things. | |
