Anyone into cars and dragracing? I consider this a sport. Pretty fun too! When the tree goes green, boy what a rush! Let me know if there are any other car fans out there.

Fastest time was 11.72 seconds, in a '69 AMX with a 468 ci engine. Chevy all the way for me.

I don't race personally, but I've been going to the U.S. Nationals here in Indy almost every year since I was a kid. To describe it as sensory overload would be putting it mildly. I love it.

I have a 84 Monte Carlo 350 slightly cammed everything else is stock. Last summer did 10.61 in an 1/8 mile track. Need to get headers and a better gear ratio with posi later on. I don't care to go too fast but fast enough.

87 buick T-type under construction here.
Should be in the tens when I`m done and still be driven on the street on pump gas.
Also have a dodge truck (daily driver) that runs 14s.

Why would I want to drive around in women's clothing?

^^^ I don't understand how you would see a sport or hobby in that manor. My cars have never given me any feeling of women's clothing.

Do you mind being a little more specific?

Having one of the first 12 second 1/4 mile production bikes beating out the 750 Honda back in the early 70's my 1975 Kawasaki Z1 900 (NOT KZ!) has ran a chill up my back many many times since I've owned it (84?)...I used to pull the lighting and the megaphone off and take it to the drags and had a blast before I went into business.

I still have my time sheets and even needing a tuneup (Points on those bikes are a beetch to time without having a Dyna S) I was cutting low/mid 12's with basically a stock bike. (smaller front 13 tooth sprocket & 4 into 1)

I remember having some awesome reaction times that were near perfect every time I left the hole. Back then 0000 was perfect and I consistantly ran 0001 on every run. I think if I would have stuck with it I would be either dead now or ?????? I guess I'll never know but here to tell about it? lol

Living on the edge and in the fastlane has alway been something I cant seem to shake. I've had her up to 144mph along side of a 1985 ZL 900 Eliminator before! Talk about scary? heh ... Still owning the bike is what scares me...

oooooooooooooo the good ol' dayz/future? ....

No, 4-stroke, 4 into 4 stock rice burner and now that you mention it I had a 75 500 kawi triple a week before i picked up the 900 .. kewl bike but no balls (to me) grew up on 2 stroke dirts bikes (vooooop! voooop!) and wanted to sit on the seat, not the tank and have the same "powerband" feeling scootin on pavement, not dirt ... The 900 is ALL that! gives me a woodie thinkin about it! lmao

Its in my bedroom now ... brb

88 monte carlo ss. I built the motor, stock convertor, stock tranny, stock rear, airbag with 15 lbs in the right rear spring, 11.51 in the quarter, 1.72 60 foot time. 121+ trap speed. On pump gas, and it gets 21 miles to the gallon. No bottle no boost

I'd like too see anybody beat a '67 Pontiac GTO (Hardtop or convertable). With a 422 engine & rearend with a Hurst 4 speed shifter! I seriously think the only thing that could beat that car was a cop car package deal, and of coarse the raidio in the cop car!!!!!!As for handling the '67 & '69 T-bird were the best ones for that!!!!!!!!I'm sure someones going to say a Corvette was faster!!!!!!!!!!

I'd guess my dads 69 L88 stingray was faster, i've heard lots of stories from many people, but any muscle car with a Big Block Chevy will always get my vote especially if it's a 4 spd.

in 65 the thunderbolts ran 10's - 427's - they actually sold some on dealerships to the general public - a littled toned down - but the ultimate package was fords 427 sohc hemi 16 to one compression - 4 valves to cylinder and it came in all aluminium - steel or cast iron - the monster motor - somewhat down played horsepower of 605 on ethel pump at the time - this was the precursor to the boss 429 - glidden made a good living with the boss for several years - spiked gas - he wasn't the only one - when ford was into racing they were extremely competitive - i remember the first flip body funny car the 66 cyclone gt - fell in love with it and got lucky in 74 when i turned 21 found a factory racer 66 cyclone gt and paid 450.00 for it - 390 series about 423 cu in - chrome molidium push rods - solid lifter cam - deep breather - the carb was bigger than my friends 350 in his cutlass - it ate gas the same as it ran - hard and fast - grew up on dragracing - watching it the summer nationals on wild world of sports - from 61 to current - prefer the old days though - everything seems generic now - must be getting old - all the best

Currently restoring 72 Olds Omega. Finished paint and body last year. Tranny rebuilt with shift kit. Everything else stock at this time. Looking to put in HEI .... change out Q-Jet for a Holly.... new intake.... hopefully this summer before the end of race season. Not competing this year because of the changes that will be taking place.... but next year..... will see. Only running 14's right now. Had hoped to compete this year as nationals will be here this year.... but.... oh well.

Chipperoo,
I had a 74 Z1 Kawasaki, 1050 kit, Mikuni big bores, decked head, yoshi cams. I ran 8.74 in the quarter 135 mph (no nitrous) yeah it was a rocket.
Bought a 89 zx-10 and was racing the 1/8 mile and was beating stock (no modified) busa's . Got alot of plagues on the wall for show and go for that bike.
 As you wish....

That's pretty cool!!! Good job on running that fast! There are a few female friends of mine around here runnig 9's and 8's in their Mustangs. My current toy should see mid 11's! I just dyno'd 455HP/500TQ, so now I just need to heat to the ol' drag strip and lay it down to the ground.

so you gotta drive around lookin for the finish line huh?

13.75 second in the quarter..... and slowin down. not bad, now how bout the quarter times from a standing start instead of the flying quarter?

anywho, roundy rounds are a whole different animal, i prefer to be able to drive mine to and from the track AND race it..... and mine stays clean, and dont have thos annoying black donuts on my doors

I'm an NHRA member and I race at a local track (mostly Edgewater in Cincinnati). Yup, my car is slow (16.0x). I can make it faster, but it's not consistent.

It's a shame Peggy doesnt have a ride this year, but there's some satisfaction in seeing Angelle rideless as well :)

Oh yea, car specs:

1984 Ford Crown Victoria AKA Frankenford
3368 Pounds with my fat rear end in it and about 3 gallons shy of a full tank (still running stock tank)
84 Ford LoPo 302 long block
Edlebrock Performer 289 intake
Quadraj(unk)et 4 barrel off a big block caddy
HEI Distributor for a SB Chevy
Ford 8.8" 3.73:1 trak lok from 2001 Explorer
Drivers seat from a 97 Ford Probe
primer black (for now)
Can get it to dip into the high 14's when playing with the carb (and it's about 65*) but it's not consistent there. When setup for 16 flat it'll do it all day, and consistency is what counts in bracket racing. Your car may be faster, but you gotta sit there and wait for the light after I launch muhahaha
