I just have to ask....Page 1 of 1
Just to get it out of the way, I was raised republican.

Yes, it is wonderful that Saddam was taken out as leader of Iraq...

But wasn't there a certain individual that we should have gotten way before Iraq?? Wasn't there a certain someone that George W. Bush vowed to track down after his terrorist group blew down our buildings and punched a hole into the Pentagon??

Well.... where is he, Mr. Bush?? You owe it to the victims of 9/11 to actually catch the guy who did it, and not play giddy little games of video tag with him and his buddies.

Yes, the Iraq war was o.k, but we've overstayed our welcome...... Now get our men out of there and give them something to do besides sitting around and playing crossing guard in the middle of mine fields!

If Mr. Bush put as much effort into Osama like he did with Saddam, Bin Laden would have been dead already. If we can invade a country and remove their dictator that easy, then we should spend some time finding the ones who've actually done some crap.

5 years and counting...... Old age will kill Osama before we do at this pace.

Hey, does that other guy come before or after we put a man on mars??
(promise from last years state of the union).

Maybe he thought pictures of Pakistan were actually mars and that's why he wants to go there. He makes a lot of promises then breaks them. Remember how he promised to do a bang up job rebuilding Louisiana and Mississippi after Katrina?

so..
1. Osama
2. Mars
3. Katrina
4. Addiction to Oil

I rolled through Gulfport and New Orleans on Feb. 4th..... Those places still look like hell. Metal Billboard poles were snapped in 2 like they were twigs... This was like a big area of damage from Gulfport to New Orleans. I know it's a big area, but still, New Orleans should still be looking alot better than it does right now. There's still 25-35 abandonded cars underneath a bridge, and they were all flooded out. Hell, right when we hit New Orleans East there was a splintered sailboat that was overturned on the median.

The only progress I saw was the I-10 bridge. Everything else looked like it had stayed the same. Now they have more crap to clean up when Mardi Gras ends. Nice job, George.

Faking
Emergency
Management
Assistance

People were wondering about the looting, and comparing it to why nobody on 9/11 didn't loot..... Well, they had a way out of New York. Their city didn't flood, and they still had an economy. Yes, the people of N.O. should have stocked up if they stayed, but hell, they would have needed a truck full if they were going to wait for FEMA. When they declared martial law on the city after the hurricane passed, you kind of figured that looting would happen. Look at it this way, if they didn't loot the food would have been spoiled anyways..... Put it to good use!

Bush is like that kid in class that get's pushed down (9/11), then keeps stumbling over desks (hurricanes, economy, his past) trying to get up while the classmates (the World) keeps laughing at him.

I doubt Eric was the head of the most wanted terrorist organisation in the world (by a government, otherwise many would consider Bush #1). He wouldn't have needed communications, access to large quantities of cash, to talk to his mum and dad who are family friends of the Bush's... How about that, if Dubya was wanted by the Saudi's during Bush snr's term, do you think he would have been turned over by his dad? When he was going to be executed with no doubt whatsoever?

Saddam was a really bad man and his weapons of mass distraction covered the slowing action in Afghanistan. Even though saddam and osama were not buddies at all, the idea made it to millions they were. How could that happen? Does anyone else notice paralells between 1938/9 and early 21st century?

I think our failure to "get" Osama is just a symptom of the US's inabilty to gather reliable real time intel

With all the hiding of facts and protecting the Saudi government AND Bush finances by James Baker from investigation by the CIA and FBI and five secret torture prisons discovered last month that the US public didn't know about; I'm not sure Bin Laden isn't being hidden by the Bush administration in some part of Saudi Arabia living under their protection and laughing his butt off, eating peeled grapes along with the "have mores" in Saudi Arabia who are life long friends of the Bush family.

Does anyone believe ANYTHING this administration says or does without invesigating 2 or 3 times?

another Bush Bashing thread with impotent ****ers and moaners whining about the current state of affairs while swearing that the sky was falling and we're all doomed.
Blah blah blah.

Libs, Leftists, people. Please come up with something more original or at the very least something more entertaining.

Well Jack: the Bush administration is literally HIDING FACTS about why 911 happened.. still: to this very day.

Baker's been given an office IN THE WHITE HOUSE with taxpayer's money to defend the Saudis against investigations into their finances to determine if they contributed to the terrorist network responsible for 911 for which a subpoena was requested by the victim's families.

Now, can you tell me why they're doing that?

... and Bush also called off the investigation into HIS OWN finances by the CIA and FBI regarding this.

If they're not guilty, why don't they let themselves be investigated; the same way they're insisting everyone else should be? ... even at the cost of everyone else's constitutional rights as in his illegal wiretaps?

Wouldn't that clear the matter up?

"When all impossible solutions have been proven to be so; all that remains is the truth."-Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

oh.. and aren't you a moderator? Why are you calling people "libs" and "leftists"?

Did you hear what I said?? I am a republican!!

Bush - 34% approval rating (even his own party is turning on him)

Cheney - 18% approval rating (Nice shot, by the way)

Quit using your radio talk show style insults and present me a valid argument on where Bush has gone right here..

Tell me why we are in Iraq when Osama Bin Laden is roaming the mountains in Afghanistan/Pakistan?? Not only are we slacking in our search for him, but our troops are sitting in the middle of a civil war over there in Iraq.

It's like if someone punches you in the face, so you go off and pull thier sister's hair..... Tell me why Bush didn't take care of the Osama business first?? Tell me why Bush accomodated his family by flying them out of our country? (and oh yeah, this is when all air flight was restricted.. It was instantly after 9/11 when this happened).

Iraq is free. Saddam is gone.... leave them alone! Being over there is not protecting our freedom. Who knows what in the hell Bin Laden is up to.

Why don't you come up with something more original than calling us "Bush Bashers", Libs, Leftists, and all of that other nonsense that you people come up with. I was on Bush's side for a while until he started making bad choice after bad choice.

It is a JOKE, and I want you to tell me why it isn't! If you don't have anything else to say but what you did above, you just need to stay silent.

Come up with something better than calling people Bush Bashers? I did. I suggested people stop complaining like impotent jerk offs and actually do something about the situation that they think the country is in.

I would suggest instead of people complaining and whining and pissing their pants, instead to be more productive members of society as well as actually doing something if things are so terrible for them and for this country. Those who whine, most of 'em, are all talk. Very few actually take action and try to do something about it to help turn the tide.

You no likey the current administration? Roll up your sleeves and get to work!

Of course actions speak louder than words. What have you done recently to try and change the tides of where you think this country is going.

I like where we are at currently, give or take, and hope to be durther into the political process in my state as well as nationally once the races get up and running for '06.

Volunteering for your favorite candidate and/or political party would be a great start in actually trying to do something to change things.

BBman, I could care less if you claim to be a republican or not, doesn't matter. I too am a repub, and I do not agree with everything the President does. It fries my taters that 'ol boy is not "the great communicator" nor even tries to come close until a month after the fact.

I am also not fond of the border policy that the administration has pretty much kept status quo that previous administrations have. These things I have a problem with.

But I have no problem with us going into IRAQ to enforce the UN resolutions Saddam promised to keep yet thumbed his nose at everyone for ten years.

I have no problem with staying in Iraq until the Iraqi's take control of their own country. Right now, I think the Iraqi's are relying on someone else (US) to do the work. They are not used to working for what they believe and instead are used to living in fear and opression. So obviously, this is gonna take some time.

I couldn't care less, for the moment, about Iran and what they do or do not have or what they do or do not want. I just dont care.

I am concerned about the ports, not the selling of certain port responsibilities from one foreign owned company to another, but rather the fact less than 1% of all shipping containers that come through our ports are looked at ins ome form or fashion.

Yes, I am a repub, so what?! You are a repub with either buyers remorse, guilt or simply being influenced by the half truths of the "other side of the aisle". Hey, if ya hear it enough and do not exposure yourself to the actual truth, in time you will start beliving it. Why do you think the leftists libs are as they are? They have the same talking points drilled into their heads nearly every waking moment and they even start to spout off those same talking points and representing themselves as their own individual thoughts.

Bush Quotes on bin Laden, between now and 9/11. Flip Flop?

''It's not a matter of if they're captured and brought to justice, it's when they're brought to justice.
-- Speaking about Osama bin Laden and other 9/11 planners on March 1, 2006

''I truly am not that concerned about him.''
-- Responding to a question about bin Laden during a news conference March 13, 2002

''He is not escaping us. This is a guy who, three months ago, was in control of a county. Now he's maybe in control of a cave. He's on the run.''
-- Dec. 28, 2001

''If our military knew where Mr. bin Laden was, he would be brought to justice... The noose is beginning to narrow. The net is getting tighter.''
-- Nov. 19, 2001

''I want him -- I want justice. And there's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said 'Wanted: Dead or Alive.'''
-- Sept. 17, 2001

Here's a question, everyone knows that bin Laden is somewhere on the Pakistan side of the Afghan-Pakistan border. Afghanistan and Pakistan are US allies in the "war on terror". Ummm...what's the delay?

Oops, I forgot to address your questions.

Why are we in IRAQ?
To back up, by force, the UN resolutions that were established to bring about the end of Desert Storm. Just as it says in the resolutions, of which were passed by both the US Congress and the UN.

Bin Laden is not in Iraq, he is in Afghanistan, of which we are aiming for 'ol boy there. Unfortunately, he hides in Pakistan and that government is not all keen on us going in there and taking him out. They fear for their political lives.

My question would be, "Why aren't we in Pakistan?"
I would guess because we are trying to do things in so many ways (Diplomatic country to country but also through the tribesman and such) at the moment plus Al Queda is pretty much crushed.

Saddam is gone but the country is still new, and the government a feldgling. They have to spreadh their wings and increasing their role within their own country. That takes time. But perhaps I should ask you, how much time you think it should take??

Being over there IS protecting our freedom. We took out the taliban, Al Queda and Saddam (who is documented to have paid terrorists as well as have terrorists camps, not to mention paid families of those murder/suicide bombers.

Lastly, "If you don't have anything else to say but what you did above, you just need to stay silent."
I am not sure what country you grew up in, but here in the US, we can speak our mind, express our opinions and form our own thought processes. If mine go against how you think or feel, TS. Can't help ya there. You can either deal with it and move on, or sit and wallow.

Okay, back to Bush's State of the Union Flip Flops.

State of the Union address - January 31, 2006
"To change how we power our homes and offices, we will invest more in zero-emission coal-fired plants, revolutionary solar and wind technologies, and clean, safe nuclear energy."

Senate Energy Committee Hearing - February 11, 2006
At a Senate Energy Committee hearing on the department’s budget, Sen. Craig Thomas, R-Wyo., pressed Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman about the proposed reductions in Bush’s budget for coal-to-gas conversion, clean coal technologies and research and development funds.

“We talk constantly about the need for coal, we talk constantly about global warming and so on, and here’s one of the things we need to do and I notice in the energy bill that it’s zeroed out,” Thomas said.

- Bush’s budget requests $330 million in coal research and development, down 12 percent from the $376 million in fiscal year 2006.
- Bush requested $5 million for the Clean Coal Power Initiative, down from $50 million last year.

Another Bush State of the Union Flip Flop...

State of the Union address - February 2, 2005

"And we'll make it easier for Americans to afford a college education, by increasing the size of Pell Grants."

The President's 2007 Budget FREEZES the maximum size of the Pell Grant for the FOURTH year in a row despite the growing cost of a college education which has increased 46% since 2001. 5.3 million college students depended on Pell Grants in 2004-2005.
