| What sports have YOU competed in? Posted: 1/29/2005 8:16:34 AM | Where do your experiences lie?
When I was much younger, I played basketball for four years - then all the kids around me hit their growth spurts. . . . . .*sigh*
For six years through junior high and high school, I played fastpitch softball.
In my high school and college days, I was a curler - and a not too bad one either! I actually miss curling. It's pretty lousy as a spectator sport, but it IS fun to play.
And, most recently, powerlifting.
As much as I loved hockey growing up, I never played on a team (unless my Grade 5 floor hockey team was worth any beans - the only memory I got from that was a tournament where I scored the bronze medal winning goal in shootout OT).

The last few years I've been playing touch football and softball, and just about to start ball hockey this winter.

I played softball and basketball in grade school, but had to give it up for soccer and track in high school.
I ran track from 6th grade till my junior year in college. I was a hurdler, and pretended to be a good javelin thrower.

I was a good long jumper too. I wonder so many people here played soccer in their early years, but soccer never picked up in the USA.

| What sports have YOU competed in? Posted: 2/1/2005 2:08:18 PM | | I went to a private school just outside of Houston, TX. We won 2 state championships in basketball, and managed to get to the championship game my senior year but lost in double-overtime. We had a 16-point lead at halftime. Was one of the two worst days of my life. I was named player of the year 3 times, and state tournament mvp twice. In addition, I scored over 2,200 points in my high school career, as well as starting and playing in every varsity game from my freshman to senior year. In the 4 years I played, our team record was 114-16. | |

Seems like everyone has forgotten about all of that, so I take it upon myself to remind people who don't care whenever I can........sorry.

| What sports have YOU competed in? Posted: 2/3/2005 11:20:41 AM | | -I've competed in cycling for 13 years. And in high school I ran cross-country and track. In cycling, I've done most of it, I started as a road racer, then I dabble in cross country mountain biking, and settle on making track racing my specialty. The last time I did a downhill race was 11 years ago- I think we all rode ridige bikes back then. I've been everywhere from the first to suffer and drop out of the race to the top of the podium at a provincial championship. In high school track I started as 400m runner and after alot of endurance training I steeplechase was my best even when I graduated. I managed a 2nd in my region. And I did a couple of triathlon sanctioned duathlons in there somewhere. | |

| What sports have YOU competed in? Posted: 2/4/2005 6:30:48 PM | LoL ^^^ you definately passed me up, homes!!! Not because of a fear thing, though... I think that was the problem. I had none. I was on my back and off my pegs too much to be very good. I had the disease of jumping beyond my landing spot..

I'm sure you know what I mean when I say there is just something about being in the air that is wonderful, chaotic, silent, and hectic all at the same time. People either get it, or they dont.

| What sports have YOU competed in? Posted: 2/5/2005 4:00:22 PM | | Well lets see, I was a football player and ended up being a captain my senior year. I played golf, did track, and even one year of baseball. But the only true sport to me was WRESTLING. I started wrestling as a freshman and made the state tourney as a senior. I have since coached High School wrestling, competed in old timers tourneys, won the Badger State Games, and now I am a coach on my sons little kids club. I am sure glad to be back in the loop. I have also been to almost all the state tourneys since I graduated, except when I was in Saudi playing Sand Volleyball. | |
